  1. I was doing some research on the Syndicate Omega, and came across this... Perhaps we should get a package deal? https://www.pastemagazine.com/drink/ale-syndicate-omega-midnight-review/
  2. well... at least the bubblers are working...
  3. ***UPDATE*** I purchased both, with the intent to return one or at a minimum to sell it on SIA. Both have arrived, and I wanted to have a sense of how each would feel. Though, overall I I liked the feel of the HRT better, there was a significant problem. Without modification to the binding (and therefore making it unreturnable) the hole alignment did not match that on my ski... so it is the R-Style for me. I have been looking at some of those how have modified the binding, should the one i bought cause any problems, after a couple of sets.
  4. @oldjeep ... because i have a Syndicate Omni.... ?
  5. Thank you all for your input. I think i am leaning towards an HRT. can that binding be turned slightly to one side? I know that my RTP and the R-Style allow for that, but not sure about the HRT. Thanks...
  6. I am in the market for something to do with my back foot while I am skiing. I have read several threads regarding both the Reflex R-style and the Radar HRT. Generally, it seems that for both, they take a bit of getting used to, but people generally love them. How do these two options Compare to each other? is one better for X, and the other for Y? Are there differences in stack height? etc. By way of background, I have a Syndicate hardshell, and have been using an RTP, but find that as i get older and more duck-footed, that my heel is sliding off the side of the RTP, and thought one of these options would help keep things in place.
  7. On my ski, I currently have a syndicate hard shell up front and a reflex r-style on the back. I mostly am skiing in deep water. My biggest complaint about the r-style is the concerns of losing the liner when swimming back to the boat. I saw that there is a "thin" liner that has a Velcro strap on it. Is it worth switching to that liner, or should i *attempt* to sew on my own Velcro strap?
  8. I'll see all of your pro alpine skiers, and put down this kid! https://www.instagram.com/p/B7GvT1HhqnC/?igshid=9lyowvajkevb
  9. Keeping this girl pumped about skiing! So I can keep trying...
  10. I’ve been watching the new promos on the new syndicate skis. How does the syndicate Omni compare to the Omega? Seems as if the omega is very different from the Pro/alpha combo.
  11. I have the neo sleeve on my 69 Omni, and by 69 CX before that. A 68 is on the higher end of the spectrum, so it should be snug. In fact, it may push out the bottom a little as well.
  12. My cousin's wet suit have a 420 funk to it, to the point that my kids have asked about it. He swears up and down that he hasn't used the stuff in 20+ years, let alone, while wearing his 2 year old wet suit. Any input on the cause of the smell? Any way to get it out?
  13. Decent references at the end for comparison
  14. Thanks guys, and I agree with what you are saying about being a healthy weight, and a better ski will not drastically improve your buoy count. My question is more based on what the marketing materials don't tell you. Think of Subaru. For all intents and purposes, the Impreza, WRX, and STI are all basically the same car. We know the differences in engine, HP, and suspension set up, but what does that mean in terms of 0-60 times and Lateral G's on a skid pad? I am trying to understand some of the other details on the ski (for my own personal curiosity) what is the impact on weight? Or Flex for that matter?
  15. @eleeski - Thanks! I agree that buying a better/more expensive tool won't necessarily make a drastic difference. It's the drive that counts the most. I have gone MTBing with some gram counters, and learned that lesson. My question stems from curiosity more than anything. I'm not REALLY in the market for a new ski right now... as far as my wife knows :)
  16. I have been looking through everyone's ski catalogs, and noticing that manufactures are producing 3-4 variants of ski (presumably the same shape). Think Radar with the Senate (Alloy -> Graphite -> Lithium ->Pro) or HO Omni (Base -> Carbon -> Syndicate) I understand that there is a progression from a fiberglass to carbon fiber to variable core constructions. My question is what is the weight difference between the lower level of skis to the higher level?
  17. @SkiBeKaus - it sounds like you are a better skier than I am currently. A couple years back, i have an OTF crash and didn't come out of my boot. It resulted in a horrible season ending sprain. After rehabbing my ankle, I found I was too timid to really push myself. I ended up switching to a syndicate hardshell, and later added on a r-style. I feel that the piece of mind that they provide allows me to ski a bit more aggressively. One last option to look at (referenced above) is a MOB. Good luck, and ski hard.
  18. Looks like you need more kids! (they help self regulate!)
  19. @horton - where do we pick up one of those hats you were wearing in the whisper fin review?
  20. The one that is attached to the boat that is pulling me.
  21. Still pretty cold here... That's my kids (and dog) standing with a buoy 20 yards from shore...
  22. @jasonvandenbrink @BraceMaker ... What are hinge bindings?

it IS fast, the hard part is dumping speed if I recall. groomers are a must, and I'd stay away from super steep stuff.
