Has anyone heard of these? I used one a while back when in the alps. I am looking for one here in the USA. I am looking for something fun to do while my kids are in ski lessons. If any of you have a lead, let me know. I would love to pick one up. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skwal
  4. Thanks everyone! What level skies were these? course skis? open water? I am pretty sure, ~20 years ago, we weren't very serious about our skiing...
  5. Forgot the to attach the second one!
  6. Closing up last weekend I came across these skis in the attic. I have little to no knowledge on them. Were these something back in the day?
  7. I ain't too proud to say it, sure, I'm in... it's not the boat, it's the skier behind it. I'll take pink all day long for a killer price!
  8. As a follow-up, I was able to snag a Reflex R-style, and take it for a couple runs in the 48F weather (though the water was 68...) and found that it took a bit of getting used to, it helped clamp things down, and triggered me to straighten my back leg instead of lifting my heel. Thank you everyone for your input.
  9. Looks like it should be a snap to get up on one. I might go with an evo over this though...
  10. @BraceMaker - It is my sister's, and she has been doing great on it. At 46, she started getting up on one for the first time using the ski. I jumped on it for one run, and had some fun. The design of the ski is unique and really well thought out.
  11. A couple from this summer...
  12. Are you in a course or or you more open water? I have a carbon and couldn’t be happier... the carbon is a little more forgiving in open water... please read this write up... https://www.ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/comment/299837
  13. Thanks everyone for the input. @Horton - Thanks for the input... Though I dream of being a pro, however your suspensions are confirmed... I'm not that good :)) Sounds like i need to straighten my rear leg - any suggestions on how to break the bad habit? (I suppose that is why I am asking about a rear boot, to hold down my foot) @lazzn - yes, I am a bit duck footed (and a bit bow legged). I have turned out my RTP a bit to help compensate for that.
  14. I have been transitioning to new equipment this season, new ski, new binding set-up, etc. in my efforts to try to adjust to the equipment (hard-shells) and improve, I am finding that I lift my back heel... A LOT. I am reaching out to you, the collective wisdom of BOS, and seek your advice. One thing I am wondering, is should I switch to a double boot set-up or hybrid system to help me realize when my heel is going up, or is there a change to my binding set up that I should try out. Thanks again in advance
  15. I am about 2 hours away as well, but on the other side of the ADK... Lake George.
  16. Here's the link: http://www.hosports.com/hardshell-boots-demo.php Also, it was stated above, but the transition is a bit tricky. This is in part because there isn't a canting system in the hardshells, like ski boots do. SO... when you put one foot in front of the other, the shin leans a bit to the hip, and puts pressure on that side of the boot. I have rotated my rear

I have rotated my rear foot out a little (yes it rotates my hips) and that helped with the transition.
