  5. Ask any GOODE employee and they’ll tell you there is one question they hear most from customers: “When are you going to bring back the Wide Ride?” They don’t have to hear that anymore now that GOODE has re-engineered and relaunched one of water skiing’s most groundbreaking ski models by adding it to the Carbon Core series. Based on the shape of the world-record holding XTRcc, the Wide Ride Carbon Core is engineered for the slalom skier who is looking for a higher-riding ski, whether it’s because they want to maintain speed through the turns at 36 or 34 mph, or get more support and stability at 32 mph or lower. Like the XTRcc, the Wide Ride Carbon Core features a softer flex that makes turns quick, symmetrical and automatic, which when combined with a carbon core that rebounds more quickly out of the turn, leads to faster side-to-side speed and more space before the next buoy. One skier who is liking what he sees in the new Wide Ride Carbon Core is Steve Raphael, a nine-time national champion and current Mens 8 U.S. National record holder. “I just got back from Florida and I’m up between four and six buoys from last year with this ski,” said Raphael. “The carbon core is a step up for this ski for sure and I’m really looking forward to tournament season. It’s by far the best slalom ski I’ve ever ridden.” Carbon Core series benefits include: Improved performance: Greater rebound, more stability at the ball and dramatically increased durability. A thinner profile: The carbon core’s increased strength allows for a thinner side profile, offering skiers a more connected-to-the-water feeling. Softer flex patterns: The carbon core led to the holy grail of ski design – soft flex patterns that produce indestructible, symmetrical turns, with quick rebound out of the turn that generates amplified side-to-side speed. Larger, rounder bevels: Working in concert with the thinner profile, refined bevels provide a more stable, predictable ride, resulting in more buoys even when things don’t go as planned (read: better scrambling ability). Additional features: Factory installed brass inserts Precision finbox Five-year warranty PowerShell and G-Flex ready Handmade in Ogden, Utah, U.S.A The Wide Ride Carbon Core is available in two sizes: 64 inches (skier weight of 125 to 180 lbs.) and 66 inches (180 lbs. and up). 8. Something new on FPM, this is part 2 of a new series where MB and Matteo breakdown the technique and movements of some of the best skiers in the world. Here we take a look at two of the best Men's skiers, Freddie Winter & Cole McCormick. This episode was originally filmed as a joint FPM + TWSP episode, but due to the visual nature of the video analysis, we decided to release it here only. Big thanks to Matteo for sitting down with MB, as well as The Water Ski Broadcasting Company for the killer coverage all year. ALSO, sorry about the audio quality on MB's voice...the main microphone died part way into the discussion, so the backup microphone is all we were able to capture.... :( Show Notes: Cole McCormick ***power skier What he does good: Matteo Says - - moves mass thru and turns offside well MB Says - - balanced and attacks out of offside - always finds his athletic stance before the boat load comes What could he do better: Matteo Says - - more balanced into the buoy MB Says - - less compressed through tranny and more over feet into apex… Freddie Winter **A Beast on the Ski What he does good: - always finds athletic stance into the wakes, no matter what happens in the turn - really good at stabbing through back foot to kill speed at finish of turn and get back into athletic stance/acceleration phase into wakes What could he do better: - stronger with legs through transition Bonus Content: - You should NEVER have your feet between you and the boat on the downswing (acceleration phase)...that is a self-defeating idea and a hugely misunderstood part of waterskiing. 10. Something new on FPM, this is part 1 of a new series where MB and Matteo breakdown the technique and movements of some of the best skiers in the world. Here we take a look at two of the best women's skiers, Brooke Baldwin and Allie Nicholson. :( Coming next week, in Part 2, we will look at 2 mens skiers - Cole McCormick and Freddie Winter. Show Notes: Brooke Baldwin - Touch skier What she does good: -Reaching low, and how that actually helps her -front to back weight transfer = efficient tail smear move at shortline skiing What could she do better: -Better timing into onside upswing….pulls too long into 1,3,5…loose line at finish Most memorable moment: youngest women to ever run 10.75m pass Allie Nicholson - Hard worker, never gives up What she does good: Matteo - -transition timing is consistent… Marcus - -ability to always land back on ski, in Athletic Stance, for acceleration when the rope comes tight -Doesn’t Compress through the transition What could she do better: -pulls too long....carries far too much momentum into the next buoy Most memorable moment: -Collegiate nationals, injured but still determined. Skied for her team Thanks for watching, and SUBSCRIBE if you liked what you saw!
