  4. The American Water Ski Association’s board of directors today announced that Bennett’s Water Ski & Wakeboard School in Zachary, La., will host the 78th GOODE Water Ski National Championships. The world’s largest three-event water ski tournament will be held Aug. 4-8. Bennett’s Water Ski & Wakeboard School previously hosted the Nationals in 1984 and 1989. It most recently played host to the Collegiate Water Ski National Championships in 2017. The 2020 Nationals was originally scheduled for Aug. 4-8 at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Fla., however, the Ski Club of the Palm Beaches decided to pull out as the local organizing club due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on South Florida. The nation’s top water ski athletes will compete for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions during the five-day tournament. Advancement to the world’s largest three-event water ski tournament is primarily earned through placement on the national rankings list. Athletes also can qualify by placing in the top-five in the previous year’s event or at respective 2020 regional championships. The first national championships was held in 1939 at Jones Beach in Long Island, N.Y. Except for three years during World War II (1942-1944), the Nationals has been held every year since 1939. GOODE Skis, a National level sponsor of USA Water Ski & Wake Sports, has been the title sponsor since 2000. More information on the Nationals, including a revised schedule of events, will be posted at www.usawaterski.org in the coming weeks as it becomes available.

  10. Introducing Fullwake. Your no-nonsense approach to lake-life apparel and style. Fullwake is the official apparel of lake-life. Fullwake LLC & Fullwake.com were created and arrived online in April 2020. Fullwake currently offers a wide array of apparel products consisting of mens, womens, youth and kids sizes. Some of the most popular categories include t-shirts, hoodies, tank-tops, swimwear, hats, and Aquawear. New items arrive online daily. Fullwake was created by owner Michael Cawcutt in April 2020. Cawcutt, who’s no stranger to water, grew up in Northern Minnesota enjoying all the splendid gifts that lake-life has to offer. Fullwake was created from the very memories he and his wife, Kelly, had with their families while on the water. Some of Michael’s earliest childhood memories are those of water—favorites including his Grandma’s cabin in Northern Wisconsin where he learned how to water-ski at the age of 6. Others include that one time when his family, sleeping aboard their 24-ft Searay Sundancer, started to drift in the middle of an evening thunderstorm on Lake Superior due to the anchor losing its hold. Fullwake, whose mantra of Live. Love. Lake-life is anything but carefree, is deeply rooted in a passion for boating, water, and lake-life. April 10, 2020, Fullwake.com opened its “doors'' to a bounty of friends, families, and former strangers who are now part of the Fullwake family. In its first 30 days that Fullwake has been open, it’s quickly grown it’s social media presence to 5000 combined followers and has amassed several hundred unique visits a day. Fullwake’s goal is simple. Treat everyone you meet like you’re on the water. Fullwake proclaims that being on the water or lake-life is something you can't explain—one experiences something magical once you step aboard. Fullwake hopes to capture some of that magic through their passion for great design, helping people, and coming together. Lake-life isn’t a tangible thing that can be shared—it’s an experience. It isn’t a requirement or status that comes along with owning a boat or living on the water. It’s a frame of mind, an escape—a lifestyle. It doesn’t matter where you're going—but what matters are the memories you make along the way. Every Fullwake logo serves as a reminder of the lake-life experience to the growing community of passionate people who live and love lake-life daily. Fullwake is committed to making positive change in the world and giving back to those in need. They’re addressing water issues directly affecting people, their surroundings or the inability to have clean, sustainable water. From lake cleanups, zebra mussels to portable drinking water—Fullwake has a plan. Currently, Fullwake is partnering with Generosity.org ( their work has helped 500,000 people in 20 countries get access to clean water) to provide clean drinking water for those without it. A percentage of every purchase will be donated to help provide clean drinking water. Fullwake is owned and operated by Michael Cawcutt. However, it’s a family affair with copywriting, feedback, modeling apparel and snapping a few pics of products “In the wild”. “The brand is everything,” Cawcutt says. Everything about Fullwake—from the logo to the apparel—are influenced by all that lake-life has to offer. From the rich colors plucked from a sunrise or sunset to the lush greens, purples, and blues of the water. The wave crest of the logo forms the letters “F” & “W”. The three lines represent boating, water and lake-life and were the influence for Live. Love. Lake-life. “The brand is what attracts people, but the bond for lake-life is what ties us together,” Michael says. Cawcutt continues to explain how quickly he realized the brand connected with people, “However it’s no longer mine—you see once it was created, I gave it away to the community to let them foster it, see it flourish and grow,” he further adds. Michael, whose background is design, said, “the best thing about Fullwake is the people that it attracts and the amazing growing community—the Fullwake family.” For media inquiries: Fullwake Fullwake.com highfive@fullwake.com See what Fullwake is up to via their social media footprint at: Instagram: @officialfullwake Facebook: facebook.com/fullwake Twitter: twitter.com/fullwake
  11. From the minute we started the conversation, it was evident that Corey Vaughn is a philosopher. He also calls himself the “hippie husband” of his wife Amelia. It was almost surreal to reconcile the deep thinking man I was speaking to with the fact that he’s one of the best in the extremely intense sport of water skiing. And he is a really, really good water skier. He’s one of only a handful of skiers to have run all 6 buoys in the most difficult (41 off) pass, and he’s been on the podium in countless tournaments from Nationals to Pro Tour events. He knows a thing or two about performance under pressure and after learning that you can get burned out even when working on a passion, he’s pretty darn good at balancing his life. In this episode, he shares his practices on dealing with pressure, working through self-doubt and what it takes to keep showing up. Additional subjects and links for show notes Key topics: What is the pandemic trying to teach us about nature and operating in the natural world The nature of control and what we can’t control The potential for synergy in the current situation The early questions that caused him to question his “indoctrination” Developing a sense of curiosity, questioning and skepticism The huge choice he made to follow his water skiing dreams instead of focusing on a traditional career Putting a “life jacket on his self doubt” His primary tool in overcoming fear of failure Learning to turn the volume knob on the sensations of survival mode Meditation and other ways of being still and challenging his mind His core life philosophies – including everything from Taoism to Stoicism to Buddhism and more Where he feels the most pressure Skiing with his granddad In skiing, “you can love the people more than the performance” The events that surrounded his running 41 off in a tournament The challenges of working through plateaus and the feeling of being stuck Even with that achievement, looking to test his limits on the ski Some of the thinking and comparing traps it is easy to fall into His awareness of his own mortality – at the age of 34 Life as a dance Water skiing as a mirror to life Website: https://www.peaceloveandwaterskiing.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/peaceloveandwaterskiing/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/corey.v.humburg
  12. USA-WSWS Members,I hope everyone has been staying healthy and safe during these unprecedented times. As our communities begin to re-open and get back to some sense of normalcy, USA-WSWS has been working diligently with the USOPC and our Sports Disciplines to create “return to play” guidelines for our sport.First and foremost, the health and safety of our members is our top priority. Our return to play guidelines is meant to provide athletes, coaches and event organizers with best practices and recommendations regarding return to safe water ski activity.Individual water ski activity is considered low risk for COVID-19 transmission; however, the circumstances around COVID-19 are changing constantly. Beginning on May 18, 2020, USA-WSWS will resume sanctioned activity for practices, exhibitions, basic skills clinics, and tournaments. It is the responsibility of each club and/or LOC to abide by all public health authorities and local and state government guidelines when determining to host an event in their respective geographic area. High risk individuals, including older adults and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus and are recommended to avoid sanctioned activity involving groups at this time. View full USA-WSWS return to play guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) regarding return to play. In addition, each Sport Discipline will work with USA-WSWS to create additional best practices for their event organizers (e.g. AWSA recommendations for tournament hosts and NSSA Scenarios and FAQ ). We hope to see everyone back on the water soon. #WeAreWaterSkiThanks, Nate BoudreauxExecutive Director

  14. The 2020 MasterCraft Night Jam has been cancelled for this year due to the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic. With plans to hold the event at Bennett’s Ski School in Zachary, Louisiana, on June 6th, we are unfortunately unable to move forward with the event at the level athletes, spectators, judges and fans expect from MasterCraft — and we expect from ourselves. It breaks our hearts to make this decision but we feel strongly that it is the right one for such a high-caliber event during this time. MasterCraft remains committed to the growth of tournament waterskiing and is looking forward to putting on an event that reflects the quality and premium execution this sport deserves. We are currently exploring opportunities to move forward with a professional event for athletes and fans as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that you and your families remain safe and healthy during this time. We look forward to getting out on the water with you soon.
