  1. I was at work one day (Delta Dental) and we had recently hired a bunch of contractors from a company and @MISkier was one of those contractors. We ended up talking and found out we both loved water skiing. I had never heard of private clubs before. A year or so later I was looking for a DD ski boat to rent for my annual vacation up on Secord Lake where I spent my childhood summers. MISkier hooked me up with his cousin, and I rented his boat. Later that summer MISkier had me out to his club to ski where he introduced me to my now best friend Maureen. I had been skiing at the local ski school once a week and when that closed I came into the weekly meeting both of us were in and was like "HELP". MISkier hooked me up with the club I now belong to, and then said that I had until I was 45 to start skiing tournaments ,because that is when he started, so I did my first tournament at 44. Now each year I get more and more involved in skiing.

    Thank you @MISkier .

  2. @Than_Bogan nope, no change in username. Last name was/is Wilk, going back to Montgomery. Kimbymon is a combo of Kimberley and Montgomery. My parents and brother always called me “Kimby” as a nickname.

Thanks, didn’t mean to win the thread. It’s been a difficult year to say the least.

  3. I found this gem of a picture yesterday and had to share. Back in the day, early 1990's my friends and I spent our summers on Secord Lake in Gladwin, MI. We never kneeboarded with less than 2 people, and on the turn arounds, the boat was floored.. It was a hang on for dear life situation. As you can see we had already lost one participant. But in this pic, I am unsure of who is the fool who is laying on the back deck of the 1980's 4Winns... We had lots of good times

This year is shaping up to be a lot of fun. In addition to skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, barefooting, and knee boarding, we have a ski show by the Grand City show skiers lined up at 5pm that day.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you on June 12th. Please come out and help us fight Cystic Fibrosis!

  5. @Horton Not your fault, but thanks. I really appreciate all that you are doing for my event and the Rock CF Foundation. The guy who runs water ski hub can be a bit weird. And often politics makes it on that site, which drives me crazy, and is why I like BOS so much better.
  6. @Horton I posted my event on there and the first time around it listed who my sponsors were, you being one of them. It got immediately removed and I was told that anything that mentioned BOS would be taken off and I would be kicked out if I did it again. Not sure why the admin hates you so much.
  7. @VONMAN , nope no fall. As far as I can surmise, I lost the insulin pump somewhere between taking it off to put my wetsuit on and putting it in my bag which then went into the boat. At least I think I put it in my bag. I had put the wetsuit on before we even launched the boat to speed up the process as it was a complete cluster f@ck that day with the crew I was with. I don't ski with the pump on as it isn't 100% water proof and is $5k.

I can't imagine losing a fin. My brother one time waxed the bottom of our shared slalom ski. That produced a lot of falls.

  8. @Brokenstack Things are good thanks. Got the replacement (90 day loaner) pump by 9:45 am today. A new permanent one will be put through my health insurance, hoping they don't charge me $5k for it. ? Called and got my settings emailed to me from the doctor, the pump is reprogrammed and ready to go. Have another call into the doctor asking when I should attach it to my body again, as I took Lantus (long acting insulin) at 9pm last night and that is a 24 hour insulin.
  9. Well, I thought losing a diamond earring was bad enough, but tonight I topped that. I lost my insulin pump... I have no idea if it is at the bottom of the lake or what? I simply cannot find it. A frantic call to Medtronic, they are sending a replacement overnight, call to the on-call doc to get long acting insulin, as I don't have any. And a trip to Walgreens 20 minutes before they close because they couldn't just sell me a single vial of insulin. I had to have a prescription. Good Lord. What an evening.
