Just an update, we have made this a virtual event for those that are not comfortable skiing with us or who cannot travel due to COVID-19 restrictions. We WILL still be out there on June 27th at Lake Lynette but not being with us will not keep you from participating. All "virtual" participants and spectators will still receive a T-shirt and Pint Glass, shipped to them. For the raffle everyone will be assigned a number and we will do the raffle via Facebook Live. If you win depending on where you live, we will either ship your raffle item to you, or I will deliver it. We are encouraging participants to post pics and video to our Facebook event page.

A note about the cost of this event. Because Cystic Fibrosis has typically been a "childhood" disease, little kids, when told they have Cystic Fibrosis are unable to pronounce it correctly and it comes out as "sixty-five roses". That has been the campaign of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for years. We thought it would be a good reminder of what we are fighting for. CF is a nasty disease, decreasing our lung function over time and many times leading to the need for a double lung transplant. The goal of the Rock CF foundation is to change the face of what living with Cystic Fibrosis looks like and giving those of us living with CF not only the tools to survive, but thrive.

Please come and make this event a huge success. There are so many of us out there that want to live a long and healthy life and it's fundraisers like this that will help us achieve that goal.

With the announcement from USA Water Ski that they will again begin sanctioning on May 18th, the 1st Annual Kim Wilk Water Ski Classic is proceeding as originally scheduled.

 

In light of COVID-19, we have made a few modifications to ensure your safety at this event.

* We will have touchless hand sanitizers around the lake

* We will have boxed lunches from Panera instead of a BBQ lunch

* We have eliminated the inflatable slide for the kids

* We have time slots for skiers, so that we can ensure that there is not a large group of people waiting at the dock

 

All tickets, participant and spectator, will still receive a t-shirt and pint glass. It is almost an entire mile around the lake, so there is plenty of room to spread out and do our "social distancing".

 

I look forward to seeing you all on June 27th. Please come and help us fight Cystic Fibrosis!

Just skied for the first time this season. Thank god they lifted the ban on boating. 2 layers of neoprene and a leaky drysuit. I was good .

Because we all need to laugh, I was listening to Yacht Rock (stop laughing at me) and their latest tag line is: I’ll be WFB (working from boat). So if you need me that’s where I will be. ?

@6balls , yep. As much as it pains me to sit at home. That is what I am doing. A road trip sounds like fun, but with restaurants closed. That is problematic.

We decided not to go down and ski with Seth. Friends and family were saying it’s too risky for me with having cystic fibrosis. So I am here at home and cranky. Just canceled my PTO.

@DaveD still worried. Should we even go. However I might murder my kids if I am stuck with them for 3 weeks.

@DaveD , agreed. The 5 of us were all texting this morning. However I am in a very foul mood. Plan B is to go down and ski with Seth for a couple of days. Drive down, through rural america possibly do some horseback riding in Kentucky to practice our social distancing. But it will only be 3 of us. Maureen was exposed to someone at work who was exposed to the virus and Angie is a nurse and if she goes out of state she has to be quarantined for 14 days upon her return regardless. I only got a credit on my airfare to use by October 29, 2020. Ugh. Still waiting for ascend properties to call me back about a refund on the condo.

My group of 5 women is supposed to head to Big Sky, MT on Tuesday evening. I am concerned they will close the resort. The “hills” here in Michigan are closing tomorrow or are already closed. Skied at Boyne highlands today and it was pretty empty. No lift lines.

I have a sport tube 3 and it fits 2 slalom skis. Plus my vest, handle, Camaro wetsuit.

@MuskokaKy bring everyone you know. For those that don’t want to get on the water we will have volley ball, corn hole, slide for the kids, food and live music.
