  2. Just picked up a 2011 Chevy Tahoe with the 5.3L, 6 speed trans, and 3.08 gearing. Tows my 96 190 like a boss.
  3. Just talked to @eleeski . He sold the Mecca site a few months ago. The lake in the picture that @MISkier posted may still be up for grabs.
  4. The Tornado is an Elite Bowrider and has a ballast system and tower. Much better ride in rougher water, but it’s a bigger boat. 21’-6” and a 100” beam. I skied behind mine at 34 mph and it was fine for open water skiing. Great family boat. The Response is a superior slalom boat with better fit and finish. For overall comfort and versatility, I’d pick the Centurion. Assuming, of course, that both boats are in comparable condition.
  5. For boats like that, shorten the rope so you cross the wake at the flattest point, usually 32 off. I’ve done this behind a Nautique Super Air 210.
  6. Just used Givego yesterday and got a fast reply from Trent Finlayson. In a quick review of my really bad skiing, he was able to 1) Confirm that I was stacked and in good position on the pull out (which really boosted my confidence!) and 2) That the turn in was way too slow. As I watched the video a few times his coaching about the turn in started to click in my head that I need to "meet the boat". My turn in needs to be faster so I can meet the swing of the rope/boat in the right place. Too slow and you'll never get there on time. @Givego please find a way to accept payment through more just than Apple pay! Trent, I owe you one!
  7. @gsmith795 the pull up depends on the skier. I’m 225#. When I say ‘hit it’ I want full power to get me up faster with less strain on my lower back. Most of the guys I ski with are much lighter and like a gradual throttle up.
  8. Due to bad form and never learning the proper way to ski, I got hurt last month (ruptured eardrum/concussion). At 54 years old I decided that I needed to start over, from the beginning. Now I'm working on Gordon Rathbuns 12 slalom drills and I'll be skiing with @twhisper the 3rd week of September. Can't wait!
  9. I switched my grip last fall. It was easier than I thought it would be. Definitely gonna try the overhand grip for pull ups. Getting old sucks!
  10. I wear an O'Neill Slasher comp vest. Had a nasty crash going into the gates last week. The vest was still around my shoulders, but the zipper came completely unzipped. I've been free skiing with a non CGA vest for years, but I went ahead and bought an O'Neill Assault CGA vest just because. Yeah, it feels a little bulkier but it's not coming off in a crash. After all, we all skied wearing those 4 buckle nylon jobs! Or how about the foam ring around the waist? :D
  11. @Tbub you have to map the course for the gps slalom mode to work properly, but it’s super easy. I just upgraded to 9.2 and the pull is so much better!
  12. The standards and options PDF. https://mastercraft.com/assets/boat/35.pdf
  13. What @buechsr said. I just upgraded to V9.2 in my 96 Prostar. Super easy and the boat is now dialed in :)
  14. This conversation is perfect timing. I just joined a club and finally have unlimited course access. What's going through my head right now is how to make speed from the end of the turn to the first wake. If you're hard on the tail through the turn, you lose speed. If you start to lean away from the boat too soon after the buoy, you actually lose speed and the boat will "drag" you downcourse as you're now trying to out-muscle the boat to hold your edge. At least that's what it feels like to me. I need a way to find that "swing" of acceleration that all the good skiers have. This Seth Stisher video is a perfect example. He lets the ski finish the turn, and with what appears to be ZERO effort, gets that perfect leverage swing right through the wakes and into the glide.
  15. I just got a Quiksilver Synchro 2/2 short sleeve fullsuit on sale for $99. Haven't used it yet but it seems plenty stretchy.
  16. The worst was probably trailering my boat from Sacramento up to Lake Almanor. Didn’t realize until the next morning that I never clipped the strap to the bow eye. Lucky I had the transom straps on!
  17. @KRoundy not yet. I want to make sure I can test it in that 30 day exchange window from Acme. The weather is not cooperating here in So Cal!
  18. Just got off the phone with Brayton from Acme. He recommended the 541 which is a 13x12 3 blade. When I bought my boat I noticed the wake was pretty hard. He said the 541 is the most popular for my boat, and should soften the wake up a bit. After I order it I'll have 30 days to give it a go and if I don't like it they'll swap it out for something else. Hey @eleeski , what prop is on your 2011?
  19. Anyone ever heard of Bronson props? There’s a 13x13.5 4 blade stainless on my boat. Pull out of the hole is excellent, but I wonder if the wake would be better with a 3 blade brass? I left a message with Acme. Curious to hear what they have to say.
  20. Just picked up a used Sportube 2. My Senate (in a padded bag) barely fits with the bindings on. Granted, they’re old school double high wraps, but there ain’t a lot of room for anything else.
  21. @6balls I bought my 96 190 3 years ago with 950 hours for $12,500, but I'm in SoCal. Boat was in damn near mint condition with PP Stargazer. @CPC_1 I think you could snag that boat for under $7K.
  22. @CPC_1 a super clean ‘88 Prostar in your wheelhouse just popped up near you on FB marketplace. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1557672941064535/
  23. 5 gph fuel burn and watch the hour meter? I don't understand how boat fuel gauges STILL don't work right.
  24. @C5Quest I bought this ski from @emwheaton. He said he bought it new a few months ago.
