  1. I do think that education is the biggest part. On our lake there are a couple of surf boats but they typically just go down the center of the lake and are not an issue. My concerns are more for the water fowl and shoreline as the waves damage nesting areas (well wipe them out) and erosion. I do think that some people just do not understand the damage that is happening, nor the effect this is having to everyone else on the lake in the cases mentioned above. I do agree it is a slippery slope as the difference between newer ski boats and surf boats are huge, to the average joe they are both boats with big motors and if your ski has a tower then even look alike. So any restriction could affect both. I think that long term lake association make need to look at breakwalls to manage the waves. I have looked for residential options more due to the weather at our dock and they do not exist. This could encourage surf boats more which is not ideal but could offer shoeline protection in sensitive areas.
  2. Love the addition of a clock, found it so odd to not have one in the 2020. Hoping they add it via a software update for the older models.
  3. @skimtb Yes you can just buy the steps and build your own. I also like some of the other rope products but that is another topic. @bbirlew Had not thought about that. Will give it a shot as we have an older one that we will not be using. It is a wakeboard handle that has lots of support, my answer could be already in my dock box.
  4. Thanks guys. I was going to look at this site: https://www.ezty.com/category-s/147.htm You can buy the individual parts and make the length any amount. The main issue is that you do not want to go under the boat. Really just a one step to help get up and more out of the water and do not want a permanent solution just something that I would have in the boat should there be people swimming that cannot get in easily.
  5. Has anyone had any success using a rope ladder or stirrup at the back of the boat. Since we use the boat on the lake for other stuff than skiing I wanted to have an easier option should people be swimming and want access. I was thinking I can tie off on the rear tow point when needed.
  6. I'm sure there must be someone on here who was thinking of ordering a 2021 and after reading all these positive comments is like "nope not for me", I mean it seems they only solved all the pain points of the previous boat that was amazing and lowered the price. Good news I have a 2020 that I'm happy to sell :-)
  7. Even small details like the front cleats being more forward are great. The side profile lines are also much cleaner.
  8. @Broussard The engine box updates are great. The removal of the fan alone would be helpful but a seal would must help even more. It does look like the bow seating has seating updated, I assume the space is the same? Is the change just cosmetic?
  9. I love this thread. Thanks for sharing and building back this boat.
  10. As someone who just got their 2020 (bought last fall but went into storage right away) I kinda wish we had waited. Not totally as I love our boat but it looks like this one has a much cleaner inside from the cockpit and around the boat in general. Since we use our boat for cruising the quitier engine and perhaps no need for the extra cooling fan would be very nice also. I like the design of the engine box but when I look at the fwinter pic I cannot help but think of Transformers with the rear MC logo. Looks like a great update and not an easy thing to do with such a great last version.
  11. As someone who have a new PS model the bilge fan removal would be a big plus for cruising around the lake, I 1/2 hope that this is just a closed bow as that would not be an option for us... :-)
  12. @aupatking I think that would make sense only because then at least people might know about this risk and then chose to do something to avoid it. I do not think this is a know issue for a lot of people.
  13. @Than_Bogan ok two grip sensors if no pressure from sensor forms T handle. Another crazy idea a break away handle if no pressure on sensors. I know none of these are realistic. A static solution that is working all the time makes the most sense.
  14. Dumb question probably as I new to all of this. When these accidents happen I assume the hands are off the handle? If so I wonder of you could have a spring or some mechanism to pull the loop together to form one line so to speak. When there is pulling force it would expand but no force collapse to a T handle of sorts. When you start you would pull it apart.
  15. @cougfan Thanks and a pic would be great. We have a great techstar five step ladder that is more like a staircase, you can walk up it without hands so have that covered.
  16. Looking to have a nicer setup at the dock and from what I can tell from pics most people have some astro turf and maybe some rubber drainage mats on the dock. At the moment we just throw the skis on the wood and get in the water which is fine wanted to know what you guys have found that works well or that you like under foot etc.
  17. @Dacon62 I wish I had know that a redesign was happening in 2021 as we might not have bought the 2020 and waited. But we knew that the 2020 with the 6.0 was a solid proven choice so no complaints I guess, love the boat.
  18. I'm excited to see that MC is spending time and money to keep pushing development. Just based on how good the 2014 model was this could be amazing.
  19. This is posted: We are launching a brand-new ProStar complete with a new hull design and construction process, refined driver experience, thoughtful integrations and more. I did see there is a new logo on the side of the boat, wonder what the hull and construction process differences are. Hope they do not make me regret buying a 2020.
  20. @Andre We have a 6 feet fluctuation (drop) over the season. I went with a extension on the lift to give me more depth when I move it backwards. Going to make cleaning the boat after rides much easier.
  21. I'm relatively new to water skiing, been doing it for about 2 years. I learned to drop and do deep water starts last year and was hooked. I'm 53, 5'10 and about 170lbs. I have a 69 (I think) Radar ButterKnife, went with a larger ski to be more stable and make deep water start easier, also thought I would get a new ski and this would be a good ski to have on the dock for others. We are on a lake without a course and do free skiing. But I want to get to course skiing and there are some near our lake. At the moment we are skiing at around 31mph. Before Covid hit my wife got me some lessons at Mcclintocks but I do not know if I will be heading out there this season or not. They are open but we are at a higher risk so will play it safe for awhile I think. I might see if they will do some video instruction for one of the lessons (I have 3). But even before lessons are there any basic pointers of what to do and practice and not do so that I'm in a better place to be a teachable student? I have tried to find videos of basic posture etc. I wanted to see if you guys had some links to stuff that really helped you or people around you that were getting started. I also want to get new rope and handle as we have some cheap gear we just bought to get started. Any suggestions for length and type? My wife does not want to do course and will just free ski. I think that I will get a new ski this season also and was looking at the Senate and it seems to be a good fit for where I want to end up. Not sure if this would make sense or another ski might be a better choice (HO Omni)? I also wanted to get MOB as I want to try and have as much protection for my legs as possible. Not sure if starting with these sooner make sense to be learning with them or not a big deal to switch to them later when they would be required more.

  23. Looks amazing, love it. I wonder if the new engine weight (heavier?) would affect how the boat drives.
