  1. Thanks for the follow up and glad that all is safe. Better to get the job done right and then you will not have to worry about it again.
  2. I spend time over on MC TT and what I see is that once people start surfing that is all that they want to do. So I think you should find one boat to start and then switch to dedicated surf boat later as one boat will not do everything well.
  3. @6balls thanks for the clarification. We do sometimes do big loops as we are in a bay of sorts and this keeps us away from other boats but on the second loop we do get what you described. During the week on our morning sessions we are trying to go long and straight to keep in clean water. This should work for a while until more people start heading up north and even then we are out before most would think about boating anways.
  4. Dittoe to what @JAS said, thanks for all the tips. @6balls Newb question what do you mean drop in the hole?, I think you mean turn around and get in the path the boat was traveling?
  5. I'm all in for any other sources to help me become a better driver. I'm new to a DD and Ski boats in general. Are there any bad habits that most people start that are common and do not know about? At the moment we are doing open ski on a lake with mostly new-ish or rusty skiers.
  6. Thanks for the insight guys I will keep looking. @horton I thought it might be the screen but when I turn the key, so screen is on but do not start there is no noise. @swc5150 You had the noise even without the heater on?
  7. I'm hearing a very high pitched whine that sounds like it is coming from the LCD area but is just being sent back to me from the windshield. This is a PS with the 6.0 I'm trying to think if this is the fan that is mounted in front of the engine that to force air flow. It is driving me a little nuts as we go for a slow cruise and all I can hear is this high pitch. It almost sounds like a power supply type whine from a computer. Has anyone else had this issue?
  8. First ski of the year and in the new boat. Water was 58, had a thin cheap wetsuit but it worked fine.
  9. @Rednucleus I need to get said dry suit 1st, it is on the list. Going to try a cheap wetsuit I bought to put in my sisters docks last year. Going to try and get behind the boat tomorrow.
  10. @MDB1056 Boat lift should be installed next week. With Covid lots of places up here were forced to shut down boat lift place included. So for a week and a bit she will be in the water. @Cnewbert I just try to be positive about it, I mean since 2 months ago the lake is WAY warmer than the HUGE ice cube it was...:-)
  11. @LakeboyWWK Around 9.0c-9.5 (48-49), so still chilly.
  12. @dbaconaz The water is COLD but the weather is getting better, going to try and get out tomorrow. I used to do a lot of white water kayaking so will put on ALL my cold weather gear and give it a shot. @Windsurfnut Yes but hoping for better day tomorrow.
  13. Waiting for the day to start: Click for high rez.
  14. Thanks guys. @LOTW yes ON @MuskokaKy These wake watchers have been great and I have it setup so that is only one attachment point for all 3 lines on each cleat (watchers, lateral and away from dock). We will be getting the lift installed next week we hope so will not need them anymore. We plan on skiing as much as we can so if are every over in Hali you have a tow. @Luv2Ski Thanks I think that people are soon going to get sick of pictures of this boat :-)
  15. Last night we were able to drop our new to us PS. Been waiting since last fall to get her as we bought end of season and she went into storage. Could not be more stoked about it. I'm hoping to prove lots of people wrong that old dogs can learn new tricks as I'm very late to the game in picking up water skiing. Doing some lessons this summer (if they can happen) and looking forward to putting smiles on all the people we can get behind her. Next week we should get the boat lift installed so can lose the wake watchers and ropes. I wanted to say thanks to all of this forum, I have been around since we bought her last fall and it has been a great place to learn stuff and hang out. You can click on the images to get high rez: Her new home:
  16. People jumping in the water would not help as if the person is asymptomatic they have the virus in them and will breath it out and be touching stuff. The UV light (sun) will help but if you have some hand sanitizer in the boat that might be the best I think as most likely transmission is hand to face outside. You could also just sanitize high touch areas on the boat, steering wheel if many drivers, glove boat etc. Having said all of this is you spend time in close proximity time with someone who has the virus there is a chance for spread. Way less than indoors I would think but still a chance so something to consider of you are in contact with older people or your lake kids, ski buddies are also.
  17. Here are a couple of short video to show the wake, very skiable at the top speed of 3mph. Also the front view with the nose being down make seeing the course very easy. Rear View; Front View: We just got word that the place where we bought our new boat last fall and they it went into storage is forced to be closed so we are going to have to wait longer to get the PS in the water.
  18. Yes Argo Avenger 800... you could ski behind on a paddle board
  19. Up in Ontario our lake just had most of the ice out, no docks are in yet but I remembered my neighbour has his in all year. Thought it would be a good time to take Tank for a longer swim and headed over to his dock for a funny pic. Tank is amphibious just VERY slow as the wheels propel it. Took the tracks off and heading into the lake... You can click the images below for High Res:
  20. We thought it would be fun. Each month we are going to donate to a Food Bank or Animal Shelter in North America in the name of the pet with the most votes. @Bill22 We are working on this but it is a tricky thing due to all the different sizes. You are right you can click to see full size. We are going to look to update to try and show full size but have a background. We do resize images after upload to 900px.
  21. I thought I'd pass along a project we came up with. We wanted to try to do something to put a smile on faces during a crazy time and to raise awareness for food bank/animal organization donations. So we came up with this: https://pet-vs-pet.msch.ca/ I figure a few of you have some pets around you all the time now. @Horton Please let me know if this is not allowed, it is only to raise awareness but I get it if we are not allowed to promote anything regardless of cause.
  22. @6balls I cannot imagine your daily life at the moment. Thank you and all of other people working on the frontlines of this. Please stay safe.
  23. I'm not a big fan of a Subi for towing and my 1st post was to not recommend it. But if you are going to do it anyways the Ascent is MUCH better than a base Subi. The vehicle won a safety award and comes well equipped. Not a huge fan of the CVT trans but to each his own.
