  1. Disland - I'd be curious on your settings if you don't mind.
  2. Interesting comments. Anyway, just a can of worms. Its never easy.
  3. The above comment really doesn't answer the original question. We need to consider the specifics of the whole forum string, above. The question seems whether or not the extra speed and extra given points will count toward a regional area record. Yes, the rules for R and L seem clear, but in a C tournament, one apparently earns extra points for the extra speed towards one's rating. It seems that the speed rules were established for a reason. As a safety director, I pay attention to skier injuries. I am seeing an increase in injuries to skiers who don't back down their speed as they age. Perhaps that's the reason AWSA slowed us old folks down. Perhaps skiers should be able to ski at the speed they are comfortable with, but not feel pressured to ski faster than their comfort level to gain extra points. Just wanted to add another out of context note about jumping. From what jumpers are telling me, slowing down can also be dangerous. For example, at the older levels jumping at Nationals -- a couple of excellent jumpers have had to cut later to gain speed for distance. Perhaps they would have had a better (safer) outcome if they could have skied at faster speed.
  4. So back to my original question. If you ski 2mph faster, you get 6ea extra points toward your rankings, correct? Can you use the extra points for a record, even ifyou actually ran fewer buoys?
  5. Maybe I haven't looked long enough on this site, but I don't see many comments on this Zero-Based Scoring. Is this a good idea? I'm fine with anyone wanting to ski at any speed in a tournament, but the idea of getting extra points for skiing faster kinda bothers me. Particularly when you are not able to do so in a record tournament. Yet it counts for ranking. At some point everyone will eventually realize it's safer for old folk to back down a little. I'm starting to see old, long-standing records go down because someone skied fewer balls, but did so because they were skiing faster (points). Maybe if one wants to ski faster, they can ski in a younger division and get the extra points in that division because they are older. Just a thought.
  6. If SN would bring back the Bubble Butt hull, I think they would have a winner. I have the opportunity to ski behind everything, and in my opinion, it has friendlier wake than any of the new stuff.
  7. Have Perfect Pass on older 1989 Ski Supreme. Yes, carburetor issue, but works great. Call the Company direct. They were super helpful. I ski about the same behind the old boat as new ones. Frankly I almost prefer the older boats. Your boat is a sweet boat. I think it's a copy of the old Master Craft.
  8. Had a good friend (water skier) in great physical shape, that lived on an island, on a nice little lake in Wahington state. Always carried a 2x4 in case he fell thru the ice, so to pull himself out. We essentially had this same conversation after a tournament, at his lake. About two years later, at about one in the AM, he fell thru the ice. He was on way home. He was found 3 months later. Be careful!
  9. Yikes - Good information here and really interesting. My question is, what the heck were you folks doing to trash your shoulders? Give me a tip how not to do so. Best of luck .
  10. I'm not on a Senate. I ski with three people I ski with three individual that are. It is a wider ski. Makes for getting out of the water easier. I'm impresse. It's fast and they all appear to be on the high end of their potential. One is a record holder, in their age divisoon. I would consider firering one up. As to which model? If your a river rat, all would be great. If ski the course, you would be better off with at least a carbon.
  11. Want something even worse! How about a pair of 210 Hexel Comps, paired with the Scott Boot. Holy C--P, try those on Ice. Another interesting long-lasting memory, I'll never forget. Even at my age.
  12. Oops I forgot, I had that setup with the Gertsh binding, I had to be a a little carful. They released not only laterly, but upward.
  13. I had the Hanson Pro I believe. THat was the years of the Jet Sticks. I was on a pair of Splading Siderals. The side cut on those were way back of center. A LA the French Techniqe. I though I was Jean -Cleud Killey. Skiing 5hose tails. Actually a good memory.
  14. I was a Gertsch man myself. At least till I broke my leg in 1969. I'm using that on my trick ski now, with a Hanson Boot.
