  1. The binding arrived and the first try on I was really disappointed as it was quite uncomfortable. Pressure on top and side of foot. Removed the liner and discovered the tongue part on the uncomfortable side was sitting outside the liner. When repositioned with both sides of tongue inside the liner it was good. I can wiggle my toes a little and overall comfort felt good.

I won't be getting it heat molded as there is no Radar dealer around here. Likely a snow ski store could heat it for me but they've all just closed up for the year.

Thought the supplied paperwork could be better as there's nothing saying what the separate strap is for, or if the top bungy should be as a X or as a loop onto the top hooks. Needed to look at Radar website to confirm that. Not every customer has access to a good knowledgible store.  I'll have a top bungy quite loose since not using mechanical release.

Hoping to ski this weekend. First one for the 23/24 season 🙂

Side note- crazy to see the full length rear locker! That was such a trend for so long but you never see it anymore.

We love our rear locker. No skis in the boat (or we place them in our tower rack) and the shower is in there. Has mesh pocket under it's lid for gloves, etc. The split lid is a good feature too as can access from boat or platform. The earlier Response lockers were single piece front hinged so good from platform and PITA from boat.

@MitchellM looks like pinking. It's disappear quite quickly in full sun. We get it a bit with our black cover. Doesn't bother me now as I know it'll disappear. Towels or pool noodle between boat and cover works but be careful they don't bled colour into the vinyl or cause indentations if in seat foam if cover is heavy or tight

  3. I've currently got a 2019 Senate pro with a old 2000's Animal Superfeet binding. There's nothing wrong with the binding however I know it won't last forever so I'm thinking now might be the time to replace it.  I ski 18.25m (15' off) in public lake with a course and would love to always be in course, but reality is other boat wakes or wind make course time only about 20% of my ski time. Would the Vapor boot be too stiff for mixed water conditions?

Here's the binding I'm considering and the type of Animal I'm currently using https://www.hyperride.co.nz/product/212468/radar-2023-vapor-boot-carbitex-boa-left

  4. Great result! Well done to all involved.

Regarding CPR statistics, don't believe the numbers. As a volunteer fireman/first responder, we are told to ignore the numbers and do our best in all circumstances. Yes, we are informed that the chance of survival in a hospital is better than in an urban environment, and even better than in rural situations to which I respond. Improvement in survival is mainly due to the speed of our response and AED. However, we are also told that the cause of the event is the major influencer. For example, the chance of recovery is far worse for an age related medical event such as cardiac arrest, even with swift medical attention, compared to accident events like drowning or electric shock, especially if a young person. So, the moral here is to ignore the numbers, do your best, hope for a miracle, but don't beat yourself up if it "fails". Importantly, know that you have done nothing wrong if you gave it your all.

  5. Interesting. You're thinking the available engine torque could be much more significant to skier feel than control via PP vs ZO. To get a proper skier feel comparision it'd have to be based on back to back ski sets at same course using identical hulls with identical DBW engines, similiar engine hours, identical prop. One with PP & Zbox, other with ZO. Probably only possible using two boats from late 2000s since newer boats tend to have ZO integrated in from day one.

  6. @Scott RussellI don't think it's what ZO takes from the engine management but what the ZO gives to it, or more specifically how quickly it gives the more power less power signal to the engine. With throttle servo motor and carb or basic EFI there's more time delay involved and there's no direct engine feedback.

In my opinion for having fun and non tournament skiers it really does not matter. For lower end tournament skiers it probably also doesn't matter, but it's a 'feel' sport so the skiers tell themselves it's does matter and likely many even convince themselves that's why they don't ski pro level. LOL, spoiler, that'd not be why and it's actually them, not the boat, or ski, or rope, or vest, or shorts that holding back their scores😂

In order for nautique MC and Malibu to offer stripped down models means the companies have to have more money tied up in inventory. Nautique chose to just offer one dash screen for both the new nautique and the current 200 because it is cost effective. MC follows the same theory from what I have seen.  The big three MFG’s  aren’t going g to stock a basic dash for 10 boats maybe.  People don’t seem to have an issue buying a loaded or partially loaded boat.   However many ski boats are built by each MFG they seem to sell them all.

Agree. They make them and they sell. Not much incentive to do simple 'adequate for purpose' towboats when it'd just increase the overall company costs and the profit per boat would be lower.

Got to wonder how good the wakes and tracking would be of a stripped down lighter weight latest design tow boat? The Pista01 is <75% the weight of the others. Perhaps the others have grown and have extra weight to improve the tracking? If that's the case it might as well be luxuries than just dead weight somewhere. Perhaps the extra size is the result of the extra luxuries and not from seeking wake or tracking improvements? Which comes first, size or weight? Does weight improve tracking? Does size improve wake? Who knows!!!! Complex topic

  8. Intention of my original post was a highlight it is possible to build a new boat with new everything for much lower price than offered by big 3. Extension of that thought is what has driven up the prices so much? Yes resin, engine, etc have gone up but if Sanger can sell a package at that price it seems like it could only be plusher seats, some touch screens, vast amounts of seadek, etc. Is that justifiably worth an extra $30k?

Intention was not to start arguments if the Sanger is any good, if you would buy it, where it fits in market, etc.

  9. Anyone wanting brand new and prepared to spend $70k is also likely to be willing to spend $100k. Will probably appeal more to those considering a fairly new but used boat and then seeing this brand new at similar price.

Discussion needs to be is the difference justifiable. The Sanger has the same or similar basics as a current top 3 so if we pretend that enough boats are built by each that R&D and tooling costs can be ignored (which they can't but for sake of argument lets ignore them) is the extra $30k the top 3 charge for their boats justifiable considering the difference is plusher seats, some touch screens, vast amounts of seadek, etc? i.e. if the hull, trailer, engine, transmission cost the same the difference is the fitout and electronics package. Is that justifiably worth $30k?

  11. I've seen comments online by a person who said they were there (so take it was you will! Might be fake comments, might be real). Apparently guide buoy wedged between prop, strut and hull, and it wasn't stainless steel course wire being hooked. If I recall correctly he said 1/2" poly rope to an smallish anchor block and it didn't move. Said stopping and transom uplift was all the buoy and stalled prop, and not a huge anchor and wire.
