  1. No. Not implying big margins. Only implying inflation has a negligible impact on luxury items.
  2. @MitchellM - please remind us - what course did you buy to install? Permanent? Anchor types, etc? If buried back in the thread my apologies . Post pics once in!
  3. oil definitely. Absorbed better, not slippery, looks fantastic, easy to re-apply mid season.
  4. @Horton Don't paraphrase. In context it said inflation impact of materials for luxury items is insignificant. Do you really think the cost impact of inflation is impacting Mercedes sales? Ferrari? Porche? Lamborghini? etc..... It's not.
  5. Extreme luxury items are not price sensitive. They are market driven . Gucci could tomorrow decide to raise the unit price of a bag by $2000 and it would not impact sales at all. Mercedes could raise the price of their top of the line car by $20K with no impact on sales. Point here is "inflation" has a negligible impact on high end luxury items . Those with means and wants will but them . Period. The boat issue is here is that this sport is just so small, and getting smaller.
  6. Any mention of inflation in this discussion IMO is ridiculous. $100K+ boats are a high end luxury item . Period. Any inflationary impact on materials etc. is negligible . It's like saying inflation is a driver of high end fashion products like Gucci, Prada, YSL, Hermes, etc. that are all insanely expensive. Inflation is not a consideration in the pricing.
  7. My sense is Ballers would be interested to know specifics of what caused Give-Go to fail and how this initiative is structured to prevent the same.
  8. All of this should not be a surprise to anyone .
  9. Outstanding............ This is going to be such a fabulous boat . Folks can keep all the new ones
  10. 100% personal preference.......................
  11. OK you have to give us some insight into this engine.........
  12. not a good sign.................
  13. It's April...... who's NOT skiing??????
  14. @ReallyGottaSki - Why were these Malibu's more prone to getting soaked foam. I've read about it a few times from folks as being not uncommon, boats riding low, etc, but never got an understanding of why it seemed more prevalent in these boats .
  15. @ReallyGottaSki curious if you're experiencing heavy blushing with your epoxy resin. I know I did with the resin I used but have heard of others that don't blush nearly as much. I'm guessing you've used several over the years?
  16. @ReallyGottaSkiOutstanding work. LOVE to see older boats that come back being 10X better than when they left the factory. PLUS - IMO older boats have SO much more style than anything new. Not even close. Keep the pics coming.
  17. @als2104 - A2 was a great ski. Two of my daughters still ride them. As to a recommendation - lots of suggestions shown already, but the reality is that each of the skis are quite different. At this stage I'd first tell you to shop used vs new to keep costs down. Don't buy new when you're not sure what you even want yet. I went from long time HO rider to Connelly in 2019 with the GTR, and now on a DV8. Completely different. You'll find the same with Radar, D3, Denali, etc. If staying HO the Works 01 and 02 get a lot of support. If moving to a new brand, just try them out. Connelly rides very deep vs HO . Some love it some don't. You don't need a C1 to get a feel for Connelly. Get a 19 or 20 GTR for little money. The shopping part and trying is half the fun .
  18. @ReallyGottaSki Outstanding conclusion to a long project. What a gorgeous result! It's so great to see folks like you still put in the effort on projects like this - as it is not for the faint of heart and often discouraging. Congrats again. Cant wait to see the Supreme
  19. @ReallyGottaSki sorry to be slow . Just now getting time for Spring maintenance and clean up. Attached are a few pics of the metal box in my 92 Hydrodyne. 1/4 inch thick stainless steel 3 sided box that sits inside the stringers, is bolted through the stringers, and with four square pads for the motor mounts. The pylon as shown has its own 3 sided box as part of this frame. The pylon has a bolt the runs up into the pylon from underneath as well as the U bolt shown. Entire structure is extremely strong. Re-doing an old boat I would definitely go this route. Your project is amazing!
  20. @101driver - Bound to improve your PB by at least another full pass
  21. Hard to watch is an understatement. That was downright embarrassing. Whoever approved that film for this piece should be fired.
  22. @ReallyGottaSki - I would definitely encourage the aluminum cradle. My 92 has the aluminum frame (box) that sits inside the stringers (and bolt through) with the four pedestals then for the mounts. Maybe this was a more common approach for older boats that I'm aware of - but I haven't seen it in others. Will send you some pics as I'm doing spring maintenance and clean up on it now anyway
