  1. Yikes - serious discrimination here... no lefties or Denali riders
  2. Have been using the S Lines R3 series (least stretch) since last summer. No complaints. Great rope.
  3. Yes remiss of me to not have mentioned the still ongoing magazine, but in all honesty are U getting anything there that isn't readily available here (BOS), Spraymakers, FPM, Rob H videos, etc, etc. Doubtful any new pearls of wisdom from the mag. Membership if you're re not competing is of course being reconciled to the fact that you're mainly just supporting the greater good with your funding.
  4. MOB https://www.mobsystemrelease.com/new-products Only $25. Keep extra zip ties in the boat
  5. @Interjon - the only thing you CAN'T do without a membership is compete in sanctioned formal events . So if that's not in your plans at all - from my chair there's no compelling reason to join.
  6. Lake Elmo marine has rope and handle supplies. Good quality rope . +1 for S Lines as another option
  7. The adhesive for indoor/outdoor carpet you can get at Lowe’s is for marine use also. Works great. Important with any adhesive is to not use too much .
  8. Organization membership isn’t required for most other amateur events . Can join community leagues, intramural events, etc. We need to stop trying to justify
  9. What's the value proposition of membership/joining? Same as @MitchellM noted in tennis - it's only if you want to compete So what's the value prop in competing? Opportunity to become an elite athlete So what's the value prop of becoming an elite athlete? Certainly not making 7-8 figures Reality checks along the way include extensive training costs, fewer tournaments, lower participation, higher tourney costs, extended wait times, etc. etc. There is no compelling value prop here. From all indicators this is a dying model. It's not complicated. Kudos to @Jody_Seal for putting this back on the table . It's not popular but its real.
  10. At 32 I don't feel the wing has much effect so with or without at that speed any performance change may be more perceived than real .
  11. @sfriedrich - there were a bunch cheap on Ski it again recently. Check there- under slalom course
  12. @Jody_Seal Interesting . Good information . I've never applied fiberglass to an exhaust. So I'll revise - for any construction/fabrication (non mechanical) applications - go Epoxy vs Poly. Thanks again.
  13. @MitchellMSo great to see the rare thread like this on putting IN a new course as more the news of late years is more on losing them. I'm sure you're going to have no trouble getting ballers to show up and ski. Just the fair warning you are likely already well aware of, the addiction is 5X stronger with your own course now available. You'll be running deep short line in no time . Enjoy!
  14. When fiberglassing anything I’d highly recommend using epoxy resin vs poly resin. Epoxy is far stronger , longer lasting, and better bonding. It’s no contest. If using cloth also use high quality cloth appropriate for the job. I can recommend fiberglassSite.com as offering high quality products snd information on both. There are a number of sources for high quality fiberglass supplies, but definitely go all Epoxy. You won’t regret it .
  15. Well I've tried but obviously failed to get the point across here. Forget margins or inflation. Why are luxury items so expensive? If margins are not excessive and if inflation went to 0% - does anyone think the price of luxury items would come down? I'm out....................
  16. My foam below deck was not uniform or for any structural support whatsoever. It was poured in haphazardly and randomly and did not even reach the flooring where it was poured. The boat if not pulling a skier is on the lift . Not the least concerned about it being absent . Have also seen recent Malibu restorations where is was all removed as well, as can get soaked over time and cause problems. The only traffic these days about foam is all negative.
  17. My recommendation is to NOT replace any foam. Remove the old and clean up the space below deck . The foam is only for flotation in the event ever needed. From my chair that’s why you have insurance. Mine has been without foam for years .
  18. No. Not implying big margins. Only implying inflation has a negligible impact on luxury items.
  19. @MitchellM - please remind us - what course did you buy to install? Permanent? Anchor types, etc? If buried back in the thread my apologies . Post pics once in!
  20. oil definitely. Absorbed better, not slippery, looks fantastic, easy to re-apply mid season.
  21. @Horton Don't paraphrase. In context it said inflation impact of materials for luxury items is insignificant. Do you really think the cost impact of inflation is impacting Mercedes sales? Ferrari? Porche? Lamborghini? etc..... It's not.
  22. Extreme luxury items are not price sensitive. They are market driven . Gucci could tomorrow decide to raise the unit price of a bag by $2000 and it would not impact sales at all. Mercedes could raise the price of their top of the line car by $20K with no impact on sales. Point here is "inflation" has a negligible impact on high end luxury items . Those with means and wants will but them . Period. The boat issue is here is that this sport is just so small, and getting smaller.
