  1. My ski has crossed the wakes about 20000 times…and I was wondering if I really need to get a new ski.. Tsixam
  2. I have heard somewhere that a short line skier pulls about 3-4 times their bodyweight. My ski buddy is a heavy slamdunker, sometimes it feels like his is stopping the boat around 1,3,and 5.  Probably 6-8 g´s! No wonder that some waterskiers have arms like Popeye! Thank´s DW Tsixam
  3. I tried theâ€Ânew†ski today. It is definitely time for divorce. This ski was much faster and it seemed like it was riding higher in the water too. The tip didn´t dig in so hard at the end of the turn. Skiing was much more effortless. I’ll have to make a wish list for next summer. Tsixam
  4. I agree dynamic load is far more important. Any way, I received a “new†ski, (less than 50 sets on it) today. For fun I measured the flex with my home made “flex machineâ€Â. I simply put a 50lbs weight on the ski and measured at several points how much it bent compared to my old ski. It is obvious that the old ski is softer than the new one. The difference was between 0.0197 in to 0,0472 in. The softest spot was behind the back binding. I understand that 50lbs is nothing compared to the force you get when you are skiing short line. It is going to be interesting to try the new ski on the water. I am sure I will notice a huge difference. Does anyone know how many G´s you put on a ski when skiing? Tsixam
  5. Yes that is amazing!  I have been in the boat a couple of times, when a Danish guy with one leg has been skiing in to 28. I think he even had the world record some years ago. You really have to be strong and have great balance to make it through the course. Tsixam
  6. John, if you play your cards well you might be able to have the perfect honeymoon next year. How about Fresno this November and Italy instead of Spain next September? “28Jul09 The Italian Water Ski Federation will host the 2010 World Veterans Waterski ChampionshipsThe Italian Water Ski Federation will be hosting the 2010 World Veterans Waterski Championships in Segrate, Milan from September 6 - 12, 2010, together with the EAME Veterans Championships. The Italian Federation's solid experience in hosting World Titled Events together with the setting of beautiful, sunny Italy promise for a spectacular Championship. The opportunity to combine a thrill-packed World Title Event with sightseeing in one of Europe's most artistically rich countries is a guarantee for a great turnout, so don't miss out on this! See you in Segrate.â€Â Tsixam
  7. I can see that this relationship is going downhill. What are the first signs when a ski is getting old?  It feels like I am turning to hard, too much roll on the ski, no matter what I do and it does not finish the turns as nice as it used to do. I think I am a better skier and I have about the same ball count as last year but I have to work so much harder. Tsixam
  8. If you ski about 100 sets a year in the 35-38 off range, how many years will a high quality ski last before it is time for divorce? Tsixam
  9. I am not sure that your elbow problem is water ski related. Tsixam
  10. Yes very funny. How did you find it? Tsixam
  11. Thanks guys! I have been struggling with  â€Âcounter rotation†for years. When I counter rotate with my shoulders I have usually ended up to far back on the ski with stiff legs. After reading the posts about counter rotating hips I had a real Break Through Run! It seems like when you counter with your hips you also put more weight on the front of the ski or use your CM more efficiently. So far I have only tried this at 35 with great success, but I am sure it will help me to be more consistent at 38 as well. Tsixam
  12. I use a 12 Masterline radius. The rubber is quite soft and I wear out one a year. Tsixam
  13. I switched to a bent handle after elbow trouble. I believe it has me helped a lot. Staying away from slack is also very good for the elbows… Tsixam
  14. I had my first 2 tourneys with ZO this weekend. I had 2 practice runs the day before and started with C2. On the first pass I had slack before the ball, so I decided to try B2. It felt ok at 28 but strange at 32. On the next pass I started with C2 again and I really put some effort in trying to ski with my elbows pinned to the vest from wake to ball. Much better, wide, early and no slack. To make a long story short in the competitions I skied C2 and skied 0.5 ball from my PB in both tourneys. The pull feels strong but I guess it´s just a matter of getting used to it. Tsixam
  15. I ruined a knee totally some years ago and after the rehab I’ve got the orthopaedic technicians (the right word?) to make me a knee brace in hard plastics. It was extremely stable and I could ski with it just as well as before. I have also tried neoprene knee brace but it did not do much for stability but it kept the knee warm and added some support. There were no problems to ski with it except the tendency it had to not stay in place. Good luck!  Tsixam
  16. Go to bed. Don’t sit up all night. We need you to be awake and alert, to test skis for us! Tsixam
  17. The Karina Nowlan interview was great. I really liked her philosophy on slalom. Sometimes I think we over analyze instead of paying attention of how it feels. Tsixam
  18. I think it can be done. But I don´t think it can be any kind of judgement like good/bad/worse/better or anything like it. The best way would probably be to identify some areas that are interesting to a majority of skier and then rate the areas on scale from maybe -10 to +10. An extreme neutral ski would be a 0.  If you really need to step on the front of the ski to turn the off side it is a +10 and if you can turn on your back foot it is a -10.  A -10 or a + 10 can be positive or negative depending on your ability or your style. 19. I ski club events, Nationals and European senior championships Tsixam
  20. I usually get very sore even if I try to take it easy on my first passes. Even in the middle of the season I also can feel some soreness, usually from skiing too much of course. But I have noticed that I get sore when I try to change something as well. I guess that is because of different "attack angles". If I, as an example, try to push the handle down I can feel it in my shoulders/back the day after. It is quite interesting that such a small change can make that big difference.Tsixam
  21. That is funny! I really would like to look in to your head and see all the things you don´t post here. Tsixam
  22. I had olive oil in my Wiley´s by mistake once. I can assure you that it will not rinse off but it´s almost impossible to ski with. Tsixam
  23. I have the same problem as you have MS. I can usually ski up to my pb in cold water but I have to move my fin forward as the water cools down. If my hands didn’t get so numb I would probably ski all winter long if I had open water. Tsixam
