@swbca I use the digital zoom. Below is a normal zoom still from the video, the other is the post recording zoom from the video player.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I have a GoPro9 and have zero issues with the add on speed triggers, they work flawlessly. I use standard setting, wide, with 1.3 zoom. From 28 in it is great. If you want to zoom in post recording, you can do that with several media players. I do view my videos on a large computer monitor.

@Horton Useless to me....I would be more than willing to pay for video coaching through this service, but I don't have an Apple device and don't plan on getting one. I have a ton of GoPro videos that I can/would use......but.....???? Maybe you have some influence? It seems very narrow minded, from a business model, to have only one format accepted. It sort of cuts out a significant segment of the potential customer base.

@BS74 you can zoom in during recording. I use a 1.3 zoom and that works great from 28 off through 39 off.

Hero 9 is great, couple with gopro labs firmware for QR code triggers. They have speed triggers that work just like wake eye. The QR code triggers work for the Hero 8 as well.

How about an Opt-even rule...I would much prefer to start at 28 and run 32 twice before my 35. So let any skier run any line length back to back, but then they have to keep shortening.

@AdamCord is spot on.......you can't do what the pros are doing unless you get the connection and acceleration into the 1st wake.....that is what I have been saying for a long time. So, it all starts at the gate and 1 ball execution.

@Horton I don't fit any of those categories because I only get into 38, but don't run it. My ski partner runs through 38 (and sometimes 39) every set. 87 octane for, at least, the last 22 years. He DOESN'T think the octane used makes any difference.

 

BTW......Ask what kind of fuel they were running this weekend at the Trophy Lakes Stars and Stripes tournament.

Ta somewhat add to the conversation....now....sure path sets a tolerance band for the drivers....do they get the tolerance or not? I know the answer, but what is the difference? Before drivers didn't have a true measure and real time feedback through the length of the course, only end course video. Now they can hone their boat path skills to maximize the tolerance. Why not speed?

@JackQ , thanks. I am aware of rec mode. My point, or question, was; why can't you run 34.1 mph in a tournament if you still fall within the prescribed time tolerance? It would still get you a 16.99 or 17.00.

I think another huge factor in all of this is the connection, angle, and speed generated from 1 ball to 1st wake (for RFF), that is where it all truly starts. You can't get to where she gets to in the course unless you can get that connection and acceleration into the first wake, prior to pre-turn for your onside. Sort of a domino effect.

@klindy so is there a tolerance or not? If so, why can't I run the ZO at 34.1 MPH, which would be a 16.99 or 17.00?

@Bruce_Butterfield I agree. On our 2021 MC I am now using B2+ (B2 on previous 2015 MC) and I use C2 on any 200 (5.7 or 6.0). The difference in boats, engine, trans, hull, etc. certainly have a larger effect than anything else and I am sure the tuning of ZO with each of the boat engine combos is a large player as well. But, I was sort of surprise that the "+" setting on the MC brought them a little closer in feel. The "+" actually seems to be a little softer feel on the back side of the ball, extra behind the boat, and softer in the pre-turn. Which is what I feel with the 200 on C2.

@markn that was the impetus behind refining the "+" setting.

Anyone using them? I have actually been playing with the plus on B2 and it seems to be growing on me. Maybe it is just a honeymoon period.....but....for now, sticking with it.

@Horton @dbutcher the reason behind my question was, in fact, a conversation I had with someone at the MC factory. We were not killing the main switch in the new MC because of it new location and relative inconvenience. It is under the removable (pop out) middle observers seat. The factory guy told me it is actually really important to shutdown the main battery switch everyday, because......the main computer is still energized and pulling engine sensor information that feeds into the computations affecting engine performance. As the temps and pressures, etc. swing down, those inputs are constantly being updated, computed, and fed into engine performance algorithms. They told me that I would/should probably see an impact on engine performance over a few day span of only cutting off at the ignition.

 

FWIW....those that have a 2021 MC, we removed the lock down friction post on the front of the seat and the metal "C" holder thingy on the rear of the seat; which makes it much less of a PITA for remove the seat to get to the battery switch.

Based on another thread debating the technical merit of gas octane rating, I am curious about the answers to this question for somewhat similar reasons.

Glad we got the 6.0 in our new MC, we can continue to use the cheap stuff and still ski at max performance, and sometimes really bad.

1.2x on my zoom....but if you use this player on your computer, you can go frame by frame and zoom in with Ctrl+mouse scroll.
