  1. We have a 2015 MC, there are at least 20 different filters that will work. We have used K&N, Bosch, Napa, Wix. Never had a single issue. There is no way that the Ilmor filter is that drastically different. I think one of the only things you should look for is a filter that has the back flow valve since this one sits upside down.
  2. @BraceMaker , it was just an example. The odds are most would be taking 5 passes with the 5th pass being a miss. A more likely scenario for a 39 off skier would be 32, 35, 38, 38, 39 with the 39 as a miss. If they luck up and run it, they get their earned shot at 41. You can back out any other scenario you want with the max shortening length to fit your level. 15, 22, 28, 28, 32 (miss), Done.
  3. I had proposed this in another thread a couple of years ago. It brings strategy into play, it doesn't allow any misses so it doesn't add to the time element, and it would actually allow you to plan, time-wise, more accurately if you plan on an average of 4 passes per competitor.

I would also propose you can run any line length as many times as you want; but, you only get a maximum of 6 passes. If you fall on a repeat rope length you are done. So for example, you could go 28, 32, 35, 38, 38, 39 - done! If you ran the 39 you would not get a shot at 41, this is where the strategy comes into play. If you fall on a repeat line length that you typically run, too bad-you don't deserve to continue.

Bring on the haters for us innovators!!

  4. It looks like those were used primarily on non-swivel pylons (i.e. Nautiques). I get about 300 sets on my rope and change it out every year. My loops never look like that. I ski about 75% of my sets on boats with swivel pylons...and on the Nautiques I ski behind, they all have a modified, sacrificial nylon strap fit around the pylon. So the rope loop sits against the nylon strap and the strap is what wears versus the loop of the rope.
  5. @Horton does that wear happen to your loops even when skiing primarily behind the MC. The MC has the swivel pylon, unlike Nautique. I see a lot of ropes wearing out, like the one you have shown, that are primarily used on Nautiques, since they don't have a swivel.
  6. That is interesting and insightful. So, as most skiers do, when they are too fast in the glide and feel as though they are going to miss their turn in, we fall back on our back foot thinking it will slow us down....but alas...it does not. It just creates more load and poor body position to start the pass. I try to bend my front knee and get over the front, even more, when I am too fast because getting the front of the ski in the water actually slows it down more than rolling back....but...even at that, I still wind up on the back more than I want to be. The small "S" turn is something I will need to try.
  7. It was executed the same way on three consecutive passes, I just didn't post the other two. I have seen multiple pros doing the same thing. It is very prevalent in Will Asher's turn in, but I have definitely seen others execute what seems to be the same approach. Pull out, glide, outside edge pressure, THEN...turn in.
  8. I have seen this many times when watching pro events. It looks like at the top of the glide, right before they turn in, they edge out ever so slightly, almost like outside edge pressure, then turn in. The overhead shot really makes it apparent. And, it is definitely an intentional move as it was consistent for this skier at 38. 39, 41. So what do they know/do that they are not telling us.

  9. A LOT of drivers do NOT place enough importance on weighting the boat and this doesn't mean level while in neutral; it means level while at skiing speed. IMHO it makes a huge difference on how well you drive the boat. As mentioned above; the movements can be subtle and should be precisely timed. If you boat is weighted incorrectly, it will not handle correctly, taking you further away from being able to drive correctly.
  10. you need to upgrade to the single puck. We had the same issues with our 2015 MC on the two puck system. The satellite communications with the garmin pucks is erratic due to the software reprogramming of the satellites earlier this year.
