  1. Unless something has changed, it's the last completed pass and the record pass.
  2. There is no doubt in my mind that given a choice at the next record tournament, Nate would still choose Chad. Ultra shortline driving is difficult with the best of conditions and requires serious concentration from the driver. Chad is certainly on the short list of the best drivers in the world today, but mix in a very long session and dark conditions and it's going to be tough. I expect the two of them will mix it up again soon.
  3. David Benzel did a test years ago with Andy at 36/38 and Deena at 34/38 and came up with 57mph and 47mph respectively.
  4. We have a professional number maker here in West Palm Beach who makes perfect numbers that apply from a sheet for perfect alignment.
  5. swc5150 - I know what you mean. When I traded my Nautique for the 16 Mastercraft, we started with the same speed/rope length she liked with the Nautique. After her first set behind the Mastercraft, I said "Well?". She responded "this boat has a way better wake!" Happy wife, what more can you ask for?
  6. @rico = "I think the main difference is that he's lighter on the line" I was standing with John Shealy at the side of the lake in Palm Bay a couple of years ago while Nate was skiing. When he came in, he walked over to us and showed us his hands which were bloody and he said "So much for the light on the line myth". I've pulled most of the Open skiers and most of the Big Dawg skiers and I can tell you that none of them are light on the line behind the boat...
  7. @Drago - Certainly skiing behind it all the time has helped me to be a better skier. However, when ZO came out and we all had PP boats, the 170 and under crowd skied about the same buoy count in tournaments while those of us over that mark seemed to lose buoys. I'm a better skier in terms of style I think, but buoy count... PP tournament best, 2@38, ZO tournament best 2@38.
  8. Weight loss is certainly helpful with ZO. The magic number seems to be around 170lbs as I seldom hear complaints about the pull from skier at or under that weight. I'm 185 and it was very difficult for me to compete while still owning a Perfect Pass boat. Eventually, I bought a ZO equipped boat and have come to terms with the ZO system.
  9. @LoopSki - Just to be clear, it's not specific to the ProStar, it's an option of all ZO tournament systems (if they have the latest software) regardless of boat brand.
  10. Oldest one I can lay my hands on right now.
  11. Nice! I pulled her to 1@41 off at Okeeheelee in 2011.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaF6OayUdXY The record was 1 1/2 at the time, but I still got a hug
  12. No one has asked for it in a tournament I've driven in the past two years. I drive 10 to 14 tournaments a year between Okeeheelee, Palm Bay and sometimes Miami.
  13. @JeffSurdej - how? Do you have to call them to place the order? I don't see a way to apply the discount on their site.
  14. @Kurt - Right, I liked it when I tried it and hope to see it implemented, but I don't practice with it because I won't see it in a tournament yet.
  15. @LeonL - You can say that again. A couple of years ago, I was Chief driver for our first record tournament of the season and my first driver of the day was to drive the Mastercraft. He came to me and asked me to come down to the boat with him to show him how to use the screen as he hadn't driven the newer Mastercraft yet. I said "go down to the boat and play with the screen; I'll be down in two minutes and you won't need me." When I arrived at the boat a couple of minutes later, he said "Holy crap, why aren't they all like this!?!"
  16. I know when Kris and Jennifer LaPoint started their daughter, they chose right foot forward for her even though Jennifer is left and Kris is right. Maybe @lpskier will offer some advice here...
  17. My 2016 was doing the switch to keyboard or popup the letter/number selector without me actually touching it. The local Mastercraft dealer tested it and couldn't duplicate the issue, so they sent the screen to Mastercraft who also could not duplicate the issue on the test bench. Mastercraft then installed the unit in a boat and took it out on the water where it proceeded to malfunction. They sent a brand new unit to my local dealer and all has been well since then. I'm quite pleased with the response from both the local dealer and Mastercraft. I had 4 Nautiques before this boat and Correct Craft and their dealers always took good care of me, very nice to see the same level of service coming from Mastercraft
  18. Still trying to figure out where "Flordia" is
  19. I don't see the relationship. I use B2. If there is a head tail, I use B2 head wind, and C2 tail wind if there is enough wind. If a new letter is added (trick equivalent), I may use that if it feels better than B2. None of the ZO letter/number choices alter my risk factor. Speeding up to 36 does and I will not risk it. I'm all for allowing skiers to shorten at a slower speed as that does not increase their risk factor.
  20. I'm still not seeing the half and half for/against Jeff mentioned earlier in the thread. We had our club meeting last night and discussed the new proposal. Our club has many members from the midwest and other areas besides Florida. Of about 40 members in attendance last night, only one was for the rule as is. When asked about the rule with existing speed caps in place, nearly all were for it. If it's really about getting younger skiers involved, then leave the speed caps in place and bring the rest in.
  21. I'm usually one of 3 or 4 skiers at Okeeheelee that skies a couple of sets on the ropes we will use when we have Nationals (Masterline). The last couple of Nationals we hosted, I couldn't feel any stretch issues at all. I bought a new Masterline rope last year and skied it without stretch issues from the first pass.
  22. @JeffSurdej - you said "This is a tough one, I have heard so many good arguments on both sides its going to be a shame whichever way this goes, half will be happy, the other half will be upset." If the docks at Okeeheelee Park are any indication, this is simply not true. This weekend, 1 (one) skier who is an open skier was in favor of the new rule, all other skiers were against. I don't see the half and half argument as being valid where I'm watching from. I'm a 63 year old Men 6 skier. My ranking last year was 93.75. Perhaps with some practice, I could run 32 off at 36mph. However, I will not risk skiing that speed and would certainly be disappointed if beaten by a Men 6 skiing at 36. Seems to me the primary reason for divisional max speeds is safety. Are we throwing that out now? Certainly, some skiers will elect to ski at 36. If I am consistently beaten by a few of these skiers (who maybe weren't beating me at 34) and my ranking falls below level 8, I will probably stop skiing tournaments. In addition to the above, nearly all of the skiers I know found out about this either on this forum or on social media. That is simply unacceptable.
