  1. Idea, Flag tournaments that are on public water on the rankings list. Color code them red or something. end of the year crown public water ranking list champions and send out medals or something like that. It gets big enough you could have a public water division at Nationals, you cant enter unless you have 3 scores.
  2. Suggest we lighten up the hardship guidlines and give ability for EVP's to grant waivers. Everyone knows who the guys are who can drive and who the guys are who do the minimum to keep their ratings but dont drive enough practice
  3. we all know @The_MS wont make the zero off hall of fame but this is a close second
  4. I have said this and will say it again. One of the biggest factors driving the need for L scores are juniors. Juniors want to qualify for Jr Masters and Can/Am and Jr teams. Today only E/L scores count for these events. So the parents and the kids drive the need. Since its almost the same trouble to do E as to do L no need to mess with E and such no one does. If these events allowed C to count it would make everyones life easier.
  5. It has to be a cooridnated effort. We need to find ways to reduce the cost of running tournaments to offset the additional cost of towboat usage (either paying the promo guy or paying to use club boats) First step to reduce costs is to 1. loosen the judge requirements. Stupid rules like the chief judge cant judge anything. 2. make it easier to become a judge and scorer. anyone with basci computer skils can score a torunament in less than a day of instruction. 3. reduce the tournaments that require "L" scores to qualify for. (juniors shouldnt need "L" score to go to the CAN/AM or Jr Masters.) L/R tournaments should be a Pro thing. 4. Allow remote trick judging. If we are going to video all the runs and score them later anyway, why does the judge need to be on site, especially for class C. The above will eliminate paying for judges to come to your event, and eliminate all the tech and site surveys that jack up costs.
  6. I have put my 196 on 200 trailer, It was fine for a short distance but I wouldnt want to do it far or on a regular basis
  7. @Kelvin @klindy we need to encoruage more tournament skiing. Practice doesnt count. To that point we need more class C and less L, all the L requiremnets make tournaments much harder ro run and more expensive to minimal gain.
  8. @horton when I lived in Hawaii in the 80's there were very few girls in the line up, and the ones that were didnt look like that, or I might still be living there. Actaully I still dont know why I left.
  9. @horton skip the cars and go strait to racing planes and yaghts
  10. For those follwing along here is the next article. Super interesting review of history of surf brands, and corporate takeovers. Very similar in a sense between the Goode starategy and HO https://stabmag.com/news/finally-bluestar-alliance-speaks-on-the-hurley-buyout-and-mega-cuts/?fbclid=IwAR05G45_INVtddQu5MFRBzkN4XkZhKMvHFEtkd9l16Pijix7WvcugQI70rw
  11. FWIW but son who is no longer a junior remined me how this would have been a good thing in his day as there were a couple of years where he just moved into a new division and he was looking up hill at some stud skiers (several of which are top pro's now). That said he stuck with it and skied knowing we wasnt going to medal but had the bar set for where to get to.
  12. Very interesting developments. Surfers grapple with how to get non-endemic sponsors. Waterski has been trying to do this for years. lets see how the surfers do. https://stabmag.com/news/john-florence-no-longer-rides-for-hurley/
  13. @golson does your pro skier coach use it for himself? If not why? is it not as effective at 36 short line?
  14. Are any Pros using the new plus? if not why? it was supposed to be great, but seems to have lost the excitement.
  15. Everybody stops to watch Nate Smith ski. a, he make 39 look like 35 and b. you never know when he might break the work record
  16. I was happy to be able to be there and participate in the excitement. You dont have to start skiing as a junior to participate in this sport.
  17. will be missed, he was a great guy
  18. low intensity? what speed line length are you all thinking about?
  19. Looks like there are a lot of existing lakes that may only need to be repurposed
  20. I am on the board of directors for the North Texas Municipal Water District. We are building the first new reservoir in Texas in the last 30 years, It will be called Bois d'Arc lake and is located in Fannin County about 75 miles north east of Dallas. The lake should open in 2021. The board is in the process of drafting the lake shore use policy. The good news is shoreline docks will be allowed, and extensive parts of the lake will allow boat use. The area is somewhat rural and the lake design should create areas where good skiing will be possible. I have introduced to the BoD that we should allow for permitted slalom courses. I want to get this into the rules right out of the gate so if and when someone wants to put a course in, the rules will already allow it. If anyone has a copy of some existing permit rules that they have found to work well please post or send to me by PM. Thanks Dave Island
  21. gear talk is half the fun of BOS, on a serious note, cool products like micro just wouldnt even exist if BOS wasnt here to promote it.
  22. The problem is judges want to reward style points, meaning a full half buoy where the skier almost gets to the wakes vs a barely got the ski around the buoy half. The same problem happens with a full buoy call. Judges dont award a full buoy because the skier was in a bad "skiing position". However the rule book says a skiing position not a good skiing position.
