  1. TN team- Cool Go Pro videos. Did you use the Hero or the 960? What mounts did you all use? Did you use 60 or 30 fps?
  2. Somebody needs to get Lindsey Von a new ski and boat
  3. I believe it to be true but it is very counter intuitive to me. As a former aeronautical engineer I understand that, that sound is a vibration probably caused by cavitation off the fin. This cavitation causes drag which in theory cant be good. However practical application shows that skis do seem to be performing well in this situation.
  4. Any other news from the meeting? nice job on turn and burn, we did it once last year and everyone had a blast. The PL crew is fired up to more small local club tournaments next year
  5. Guys in Florida arent villians only lucky because they have lots of promo boats
  6. That's right up there with Medicare and Social Security.  Seriously I agree. I dont think its on anyone's agenda I am afraid. Someday soon there might not be enough boats to hold tournaments except in Florida.
  7. Hey I am all for it, I am curious more than anything. However if the rules requiring boats to pull local tournaments and thus the promo requirement is lifted, there will be less if any incentive for manufacturers to provide promo credits which will make holding tournaments very difficult. Â We are hurting big time for promo boats so if someone gets one in North Texas they are my new best friend
  8. OK, So they are the official sponsor of nationals. Does this mean they get a free pass on the rules regarding having to pull enough tournaments to qualify to pull Regionals and nationals? How many is it anyway? and where are those rules written? Â Can they possibly have enough promo boats out there in time to pull enough tournaments?
  9. While we are comparing scars. I tore my bicep jumping and had distal bicep surgery in June. Missed the whole tournament season. Good news is since I started skiing again in September I cant slalom yet so I am learning to trick, at 48 years old. Hey its never too late right. I am almost up to 500 points now
  10. Does anyone know what happened to Pentalago. Last I heard they canceled their tournament. Did they ever get any houses built?
  11. Here in Princeton Tx we run a handicap cash prize in conjunction with our 3 event tournament. This alloows everyone no matter what level to be in the running for the cash. Â With the new ranking program it is easy to set up, doesnt require any rule changes and lots of fun
  12. Anyone try the full suit Camaro, lots of pros wearing them. Not sure thats a sponsorship thing or a performance thing
  13. who cares if it increases performance. Isnt that the idea to try and ski better. Thats why we ski in the things. Its like saying its not fair that some skiers ski more tournaments than others. Hey lets make a rule that eveyone can only ski 4 tournaments a year so that no one has an advantage. Trying to get an advantage is why people get on airplanes to ski at places like Ski Ranch and Trophy Lakes. is that fair? maybe we should make a rule you can only ski at Trophy Lakes once a year. If you dont want to wait too long to ski, ski in smaller tournaments. Worried about wind. come to Princeton we have glass 90% of the time year round becuase we have a tree line. Â We had our own little local tournament at Princeton and did 3 rounds and were done by lunch. Did we have an advantage?
  14. I am Dave Island. I didnt start competitive skiing until I was 40. I was a surfer and windsurfer and lived in Hawaii and California. I moved to Dallas in 1999 and saw my first slalom course and jump. Bought a lot at Princeton Lakes and asked Mike Thompson to teach me to jump. I went from plop overs to winning SCR Mens 3 jump in 2007. Ok I backed into it because Kevin Withrow didnt jump that year. I love to slalom just wish I was better at it. My son now kicks my butt.
  15. AWSA has a Novice class. You have all kinds of leeway with it. If the skier is a novice pull them in Novice class. We give skiers a mulligan ride in Novice class as every one of our tournaments. They arent worried about qualifying for nationals so dont sweat it. This way you can follow the rules in C/E/L and serve beginers in class F. Â Some of the rule violations being described above wont be found anywhere near our lake. I complely agree when its a close call always benefit the skier. Extra bouys, free gates and bogus rerides dont help anybody. Â If you dont want any rules wakeboard.
  16. I am skiing this winter for sure, I missed too much summer with a torn bicep. Probably not do any jumping until summer however. Â Last winter sucked, The coldest winter in Dallas anyone can remeber. Its got to be better this time.
  17. Sprint phone will not work in Europe unless you have the Sprint international blackberry
  18. Interesting debate. At Nationals this year practice was almost impossible to get. Once we got our heads around the idea it was no issue. Oh and Bakersfield practice was a disaster. We would have been way better off skipping that. I do know in jump, a site familiarization set is very useful especially on lakes with a short set up. I typically dont hit the ramp however.  Site fam set saved my butt 2 years ago at regionals since it was the first year of zero off and I had never taken a jump set with it before.
  19. I would say if your coaches (you got good ones that for sure) didn't tell you to change skis your fine
  20. I got a 65" Elite to sell you all, cheap
  21. Try fifteenoff.com they had some videos of Seth Stisher running 15/22/28
  22. I have seen big guys having a lot of success with the wide ride
  23. To the question. Having an engineering background I enjoy fin tuning and seeing what works and doesnt work. I think I have more fun adjusting my sons ski more than mine. Since he is a good skier with solid technique I know from set to set the technique will be the same so the outcome is a result of the change. That being said it seems like we always have some big tournament coming up so we dont want to be changing a bunch of stuff. I did adjust his fin one year after a practice set at nationals. needless to say I was sweating it as if he skied bad I probably would have been blamed. It was a happy outcome as he got a PB that year. Regarding the Elite it seems sensitive to fin settings and the fin box sucks. I have a devil of a time adjusting it and dont feel comfortable being able to adjust only one parameter at a time. He is on the A1 now its easier, but we haven't messed with it much  Dave
  24. I dont see how all that added weight for the solid bimini can help matters. It will be interesting if they step up with sponsor money and put it in for the boat test. I can tell you this much. If they get it approved and someone shows up at one of my tournaments with a promo we will use it. I cant get enough promo boats to pull my tournaments.
