  1. The only way to find the best ski is to try them.  Bruce Butterfield told me that the best way to know if a ski works well for you is not if you add a bouy to your PB, but if your consistency goes up.
  2. Got to get one, I was going to get a Warp instead but why waste money on that.
  3. I have a 64" Goode 9500 that my son has run 35 off on, Its a great ski. He just out grew it.  I will sell for $250
  4. I need her to ride in the boat when I ski so I will be sure to keep my head up and looking in that direction
  5. I just got a 2009 RS-1,  I was wondering what if any fin adjustments people made going from an MPD to RS-1
  6. we are buying a new ski nautique. We want a better bimini than is offered by our dealer. We want one with high quality material and a support that stays firm so the bimini doesn't wobble and the cloth doesnt flap in the wind. Who makes the best bimini and why
  7. has anyone tried a Schnitz speed fin with an MPD, or any other ski for that matter.  I am thinking of trying it in place of the stock gold fin.
  8. Our lake has allowed wakeboarding from the beginning. We have debated the erosion of wakeboard boats endlessly. In the end we put rock around the lake used most by wakeboarders and have been fine since. Of course shore line maintenance is an ongoing project. We also added a restriction to 23' I belive. This was in concern for some of these massive inboards that have come out recently. Everyone seems happy now.
  9. Ok, If you are really bored and its snowing outside, check out my video from the 2008 Masters    Part 2 is jump
  10. what do you think is the biggest factor that makes it difficult to ski in cold water (50 deg or less) 1. water density makes it hard to create and maintain angle 2. cold makes you stiff 3. dry suit limits flexibility 4. you cant ski as often so you lose timing
  11. Take a look at www.peaksports.com lots of good info.
  12. I usually say "dont worrry Honey I'll be home early".  Haven't made it home early once yet.
  13. I share a boat. We dont have any paperwork. If you need paperwork then you may want to reconsider.
  14. Do you view the high end ski market as a profitable segment. Or do you use the high end to create a brand to sell more of the low end high volume higher margin equipment.  How do you view the introduction of the Warp 8. Obviously at $3000 they have set a whole new price point. Is there really more to gain by going to top end materials and construction, or is it a gimic?
  15. In his experience how much variability is there between the same skis as they come out of manufacturing?
  16. Don and I are the last survivors here in Princeton. Winter has shown up. Just a week ago it was shorty's or nothing. Now water was down to 55 Air 65. Had to break out the dry suits. Jumpers are put away until Spring.
  17. Has anyone tried or considered an RS-1 front with an RTP. Or maybe since I have heard the RS-1 is not as stiff as a hardshell the transition from an RTP wouldnt be a drastic as it would be otherwise. Can the back boot be lossened enough to let the foot come up and move around like it does on an RTP?
  18. good stuff Bruce, I have been playing a lot of tennis this winter. You cant hit a tennis ball while being all tensed up. I hope the relaxation practice tranlates to my skiing.
  19. Bill, Thank you for taking the itme to provide well thought out constructive analysis. Awesome  Thanks  Dave
  20. I was curious if anyone has experieince enough riding multiple skis of the same year, model and manufacturer, if there is much variation. Certainly not all are the same but to amatures how much do skis differ one to the other in the same manufactured bunch. With the same set up can an average skier tell the difference?
  21. A tool that you describe along with video tool (like dartfish, I have it) and a lap top computer could be an incredible vehicle for analysis. The key to slalom and for that matter jump is efficiency. What the skier needs to learn is what are they doing from pass to pass to lose their line. In snow ski racing they talk about it constantly, "finding the fastest line". With such a tool a skier could map his best pass when he is skiing his best PB ect and then be able to compare it to his day to day training and see where the loss of effciency is. We have all learned from JB and the WCS crowd that there are different ways to be efficient. Using this tool could enable skiers to improve faster than ever before. I would really like to get involved helping with this project email me at disland@airvana.com dave Island
  22. Will there be a carbon fin booth at Nationals
  23. John,  Have you tried the ski with a wing? Why dont you use one. I am on the MPD Jobe prototype. I have loved it from the first pass.  Dave
  24. I have found the best way to use video is to take video when you are skiing good. Then when you are skiing bad compare the two and you will see quickly what the problem is. Trying to chase the perfect form is an endless proposition. If Jamie tried to change himself to look like Andy Mapple he would never have broked the world record.
