Pushed the left rupture in '13 too quickly, ended up with elongation; trying to be more compliant for this right side.

@lpskier - John, Kevin Murphy is definitely the go-to guy but only performs knee or shoulder procedures, I was referred to one of his group partners.

 

Soon as partial weight-bearing is feasible I'm looking forward to getting down there, hanging with the LaPoint Ski Park denizens; driving and soaking up pointers.

@jetpilotg4 – insertional Achille’s tendonitis if repetitive can lead to calcific tendinosis which, over time, can lead to Haglund’s syndrome. So it’d be advisable to conservatively treat the acute tendonitis with stretching/strengthening routines until symptom free. Otherwise the sudden, high load, repetitive stresses of skiing likely will make it worse. If the AT acts up when first walking in the morning, that’s a tell-tale sign of needing more rx/rest. In my case the Haglund’s had flared up (after several years of dormancy) about 7 weeks prior to rupture but I just continued to ski through the discomfort.

 

@skierjp – nice incision Jim, hope you’re all healed and back on the water. Bet you’ll be thinking more about going to a deep/short fin setup.

 

@Bruce_Butterfield – turtle soup for Christmas dinner is a great idea!

 

Everyone should keep a roll of duct tape in the boat and vehicle; couldn’t have driven home without taping it.

@UWStoutSkier - if you have access to Diacom and their ECOM cable. it'd be good to run a report on the error codes, assuming they haven't been cleared. Reviewing the log should indicate when (hours) the engine may have overheated (if it did,). Also, if the ExCal 343 plastic shroud appears krinkled near the manifolds, it probably did overheat at some point (I don't believe the ECM on an '09 reads manifold temps). It would be useful info to have going forward with the new motor.

@jercrane - thanks for the pic. Clearly looks like a big hole required to accommodate the socket. I'd drill 4 small holes to match the profile (and clasp notch) and with a jig-saw to cut out a square hole (with rounded corners), trying to minimize the overall size. A single round hole would seem a bit huge.

 

Have seen some pucks inside the windshield (in front of the dash) that function fine.

@gregy or @jercrane - can you post a pic of the bottom of that new single puck?

Starboard side in front of the windshield is typical (200). I would use starboard location of current garmin puck (if two puck system upgrade).

 

I'm assuming of course that you have the ECOM cable, file, Aquastar or Diacom program with laptop to flash the head unit with the new software.

 

@jetpilotg4 - may want to bone up on Haglund's deformity; maybe it applies.

Coincidentally, we’ve just started to implement ECV here at Victory this week during practice to improve driving skills. Also we’ll make use of it with our “C”’s to add credibility and archive for review. It’s a work in progress.

 

Just using a Panasonic WiFi capable camcorder, AC inverter battery power source, 1200mbs router, a tablet (mounted to the windshield on the far right) with the Panasonic WiFi control app. This allows the driver to start and stop the recording. Additionally the recorded clips can be streamed to the driver’s tablet for immediate review (e.g., tended to be ROC in the 196).

 

Clearly, there is lots of room for driving technique improvement. IMO it’s very difficult to improve one’s driving without ECV.
