  1. Analyzing technique is always a good starting point, but a well-tuned ski is essential. What ski, size, your weight, binding & fin settings? Speed, line length? If more details provided; you'll get great info here. Assuming binding location reasonable, if onsides are too quick & sharp (overturning) you might want to check if the fin is too far forward (DFT too great) and too shallow (depth < stock) from factory recommendations. Typically evaulaute technique (e.g., handle control into onside, reach), binding postion, then fin/wing settings.
  2. might try D2.508-2.510, that will help speed up turns (edge change) both sides. consider front boot back 1 hole ~ 29.375 try depth change 1st. if you eventually do both changes and find you're having to step on the front at 2/4, try wing at 8. it is amazing how each change creates such noticeable differences on this ski.
  3. MM record: 3.5 @ 41 off yesterday, 9-12-2009, in Round 3 at the John Meyer Memorial Slalom Tournament, Stillwater Lakes, Palm Bay, FL. Awesome performance to witness. Congratulations! to Ben Favret
  4. Skiing is fun again! Took nearly 4 weeks of monkeying around with the setup, rather than detail the whole saga, I would say that for some a lot of tweaking maybe required to get the ski right for any one individual. Initially, at stock settings, the ski just overturned. Tried the fin all over the place for the next two weeks, but never felt “freeâ€Â. After talking with Mark Needham tried .795 DFT, 6.845 tip, 2.512 depth, 7w, it was much better, but offside too harsh, backed tip up to 6.835, depth 2.509, it made a HUGE difference. The ski is now fast, fluid, and width feels easy, even with headwinds. The most significant change yielding the best resultant “feel†seems to be due to increasing the DFT (for me), never have run the fin this far forward and always felt back was better, but kicking myself for not trying this far forward 3 weeks ago. At present, dbl Approach 29.375/17, .795/6.835/2.509/W7 is a good place to leave things and learn more about all that this ski can do. I feel this ski is very sensitive to setup and may require a bit of tuning effort to make it copacetic for some its riders.
  5. DFT/Depth? Been all over with fin, for me, seems depth best at 2.510 - 2.515 (2.512), DFT ~.785, tip currently at 6.820, seemingly short but at this point can't seem to negatively impact offside (LFF 29.375/17) and would still prefer less hesitation at 1B (go shorter, less depth?). Has potential to be best ride I've been on but steep learning curve thus far.
  6. Does CP have a Sixam fin clamp on his Elite? Easier/Faster DFT adjustments?
  7. Elite is substantially wider than the A1 throughout, except the last 4" at the tail, in part explaining the less effort feeling. Today it ran through 35off, .760. 2.508, 6.835, W7 with Wiley's, unfortunatley my feet weren"t in them. Wouldn't surprise me if it is also wider than the 9800, Z7 not sure.
  8. It is awesome in its construction. Concur with other posts; fin box stinks, especially in light of what appears will require much tuning to skier preference. First two sets on a 67" yesterday, too soon to comment on the preferred setup, but can tell this ski, once tuned, will perform better than prior rides.
  9. same, seems like the yellowish discoloration is a month old, acquired ski 09/08, it is occurring along two areas on the bottom that were not entirely smooth to begin with. Also, probably not related, but it seems like now that the water is over 85, the ski has been much more sluggish, have moved bindings back 1 hole, fin dft to .78 from .77, d to 2.51 from 2.508, kept length at 6.84, seems to be quicker again.
