  1. Anybody try the Slot fin on an A1. I have been struggling a little with the A1 back home in the colder water and am wondering if the slot fin I have from my Monza might not be so temperature sensitive.
  2. Daniel Kennedy is someone that you don't hear a lot about but he has been great with both me and my 10 year old when we have been to Cobles.  I get as much out of Daniel as I do from April. April does relate really well to kids though and my son gets a ton from April's input.
  3. New A1s have the inserts for the new bindings. The one I bought about a month ago does not. I guess I will stick with my Wiley.
  4. Thanks. I will focus on on an older X5. If anyone has a 65" X5 they want to let go at a good price let me know.
  5. I am looking at moving my son into a new ski for next season. He is 10 (still Boys 1 until next week) years old about 5' tall (just under) and weighs 120 pounds and is skiing into 30 mph at long line and running 15 off at slower speeds. He is skiing on an HO Odyssey right now which is 63" and I think he is ready to benefit from something that performs a little better than that. Next year he goes to 34 mph and we hope to get him up to speed pretty quickly as he grows.  I can get a good deal on a 2008 Radar Annex in 65" and I have been looking at some used skis (D3 X5, Nomad) in the 65-66" range that should hopefully carry him for several years. Any thoughts on the Annex for him or other suggestions. I want to keep it under $250 if I can.
  6. Will HO bindings fit on a Radar ski without a ton of work? Thanks
  7. I can measure my A1 tomorrow. I am out of town today.

    Skis

Thanks John I am still getting used to the ski so I am not panicking. I do love the toe side turns. I was struggling last week with the heel side but I skied much better this morning. I think I was just tired from too many days (12/14) in a row.

    Skis

Shark, I don't want to hear that as I just picked up an A1. The 2 pt was another ski I was considering but couldn't find one to ski on.
  10. My guess is the Elite fin box is about keeping it light vs ease of adjustment. The fin box is still probably the heaviest thing on the ski and it looks lighter than most fin boxes.
  11. I have skied behind both and don't notice a big difference in wakes at 22 off. I am not the most sensitive skier in the world but have pretty good body position so I may not be the best judge.
  12. I saw a guy on one this weekend and he had moved off the A1 onto the S1 when it came out. I was at Coble's last week and many of the coaches including April are still on the A1. I think given that the S1 came out in the middle of the season you might not see a ton of people try it until the big tournaments are over for the season.  I got an A1 last week but I didn't try the S1 because I was looking for a big ski and the A1 comes in 68.75.ÂÂ
  13. Jacke, I would give your old bindings a try on the A1 to rule that out then decide if you should spend some more time on the RS-1s. I made the switch from an 05 Monza to an A1 and within 3 sets I was running my regular line lengths and I am about the same ability skier as you. Once you figure out of the ski works for you then you can try the new bindings. I usually try to change only one thing at a time.
  14. Would adding some depth to the fin help with this?
  15. I still have a 64" EP Comp One that I got when I was 11 in my basement. I haven't broken it out for my kids to ski on but I have thought about it. I ran 34 mph into 28 off on that one back in the late 70s. I would love to have one fo the old Mahas my dad had. I still have a binding mounted up on a 68" Stinger that I skied on after the EP (I went through a huge growth spurt one winter).
  16. Both photos are very cool. I would guess the second one is at shorter line. Great technique.
  17. Richard,  Thanks for the advice I will look for some of those types of tournaments also. I should be able to get an introduction pass I can make but I am not sure about my son getting the entrance gates and his first pass every time.ÂÂ
  18. At my size (230lbs) I doubt any ski really will ride that high in the water. I do like the idea of less drag. I am going to try and find a way to try them both. I have no idea if I do a skidded turn shape or not. I do know when I learned to ski the course 30 years ago it was all about kicking the back of the ski around which must have been a skidded turn but I seem to have been able to curb that impulse.
  19. John is that an A1 or an S1. I am interested to hear the difference in someone that skis at 34.
  20. Hey Corey or anyone else on the 68.75 A1 how is it working? I am thinking about replacing my 69" 2005 Monza with a new stick this year and due to my inability to shut my pie hole it needs to be a big ski. I am interested in feedback on the 68.75 A1.
  21. What line length do you free ski at? I run into 32 off at 34 mph and when I free ski I always do it at 15 off. Generally I am building some fitness and thinking about body position behind the boat.  This year in those early sets I am also going to work on handle control and being patient in the turn. I am wondering if I need to shorten the line for that. I don't have any issues running the course at 15 off but at 28 and 32 I tend to not be patient enough in the turns. Maybe some free skiing at shorter line lengths would help with that.
  22. I have an almost brand new Accurate ARS 13" 1.1 diameter handle that is too big for me. I am interested in trading it with someone for something in the 1.0 diameter range or I will sell it for $40 shipped. I think I paid $70 for the handle and it has only been used for 2 sets.
  23. I am not a judge but it looks to me like he missed the gate.
