  1. I can't believe he runs 10 passes at 235 lbs, 62 years old and on a 66" ski. The guy is my hero. I weigh 235 and I am not sure I could run 3 passes on a 66" ski. OldSkiersWife rocks also. Great gift even if it wasn't exactly what he wanted.
  2. You need to get calipers and find out where you are at. You can't possibly eyeball a fin and they are never right out of the box.  I run my fin off the numbers on proskicoach.com andit works well for me although I ski into 32 off not as deep as you.
  3. Very interesting about the larger sized Stradas. Did "Wally" think the 67" supported his 205?
  4. I believe Matt does a lot of coaching with kids. I would be interested in hearing his thoughts on coaching kids.ÂÂ
  5. Your kid looks good. How old is he? I love his answer about his hands. It is good he isn't thinking about the ski he is just skiing.
  6. I wound up skiing 4 tournaments this year. Three INT events and one two round AWSA event. I realized that I suck in tournaments. I know it is only a matter of getting used to it but I didn't really perform that well. I usually run deep 28 off and make 28 out of the water 50% of the time. In my first tournament an INT event I started at 15 off 32 mph and made that then only got 5@34 mph. The next event was the AWSA event and in the first round I fell around 5 at 15 off. In the second round I ran 4@28 off which was okay. The final two events I got a couple at 22 off. I make 22 off 99% of the time at home. Hopefully next year I will get better in tournaments because my little guy really likes them so we will keep skiing them. I found the people to be great. Everybody was encouraging and positive. There was certainly nobody laughing about my performance even though as a Mens 4 skier I am certainly not competitive in my age group. My goal next year is to run 28 off consistently in practice and in a tournament.
  7. Why does the ski tend to wheelie more as the line gets shorter? I really noticed it when watching Regina run her 39 off. It seems like the ski wheelies then they re-connect to the rope. Is this because of the additional speed carried as the line gets shorter? I am only into 32 off so it doesn't seem to translate to where I am right now.
  8. That is very cool. They ran a 2 day Jr. Development clinic in MA last year unfortunately we were at Coble's so my son wasn't able to go. It is tough to get coaching in the Northeast on a regular basis.ÂÂ
  9. I have seen a kid on an FM E series and my kids ski on Reflex so there are hard shell options in small sizes.
  10. I would likely go back to playing a lot of golf.ÂÂ
  11. Are you running him at long line or 15 off? At April Coble's direction I have been running my 10 year old at long line. He had a best last year of 4@32mph but he has run full passes at 26 mph at 15 off but we haven't spent much time there. My son is about 4'10 and 120 pounds. We moved him to a 65" D3X5(used 2005 ski) late last season and he picked up a pass on the new ski. At 75 pounds the 65" ski might be a little long for your son.  Here is some bad quality video of him running 26 mph from early in the season. I don't have any video from the end of the year.
  12. That is a steal. What did you go to?
  13. That ski looks a little like a skinnied down version of the Connolly Mid SX my daughter is learning to ski the course on.
  14. I would probably give it a consideration unless the beer really sucked.
  15. I am done. Boat came out yesterday in between hockey and soccer games for the kids. It was a great season. I think I need to move south.
  16. It doesn't make sense to me. I know I added wing when it got cold and it seemed to work for me.
  17. davemac, do you get up with one foot in or two. In looking at the new ARTP I am worried about what would happen when you kick your back foot in.
  18. If I want to try a RS1 front with a RTP what are my mounting options. Do I have to buy a Radar RTP and a Sequence plate? Is there a mounting plate for just the front binding? Can I use my existing RTP with a Radar front? When you buy a Radar front boot it doesn't look like it comes with a plate at all to mount to the ski so is there always a plate decision that needs to be made?
  19. I seem to keep stealing another day. We skied on Sunday in wet suit tops it was 68* air and 58* water. Skied again today I went with a full wet suit at 61* air and 58* water. We might get Thursday or Friday in and then most of our boats are getting pulled on Sunday.ÂÂ
  20. Unfortunately my son has a hockey tournament or else we would come up. We had a good time at the INT tournament there.
  21. We have been to Coble's several times also and it has always been a great experience. I have been coached by April but find Daniel Kennedy to be just as good. Daniel is April's coach and really knows his stuff. April has been really great with my kids. My daughter was struggling to get up on 1 when we were there over the summer and April made sure to be in the boat with her for at least 1 set every day.  My kids can't wait to go back next year which is great because it gets me there also/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif
  22. Sounds like fun. I will be in for next year.
  23. We went out to ski yesterday and today and decided it was too windy in the course. Air was low 60s and water was 60* on the nose. Hopefully the wind will die a little this week and we will get a couple of sets in. Sometime in the next two weeks my boat is going to come out of the water for the season.
