  1. I ski two different places so have two sets of stuff. Recently bought a birthday ski that is magic so ordered another but kept the identicle binding sets. I can run -32/34 on good days. I only rode the second ski setup about a dozen turns freeskiing - it was out of control riding the tail and I couldn't do anything about it. It was un-serving. Identical setups different boat n water, rechecked settings. Skis were on sale as cosmetic blems, one is literally magic n one a crazy stick. Can high end skis be that different? Any insight welcome before I go asking for a different stick from the seller. Thx, Matt.
  2. Fun post thx! Hope I some of our grandkids can catch the same drive and perserveirans.
  3. Thanks kcslaloms! That's a real bummer on Cindonway, stopped n looked at it years ago - beautiful, protected site.
  4. Would like to ski at Cindoway shores/lake jacob Syracuse Indiana week of 15 June but cannot contact dbuchers or any others to see if possible. Anyone in the know? Any other nearby opportunities? Thx, long travel n lots of relatives for an old guy, some exercise would be good medicine.
  5. Any skiers/drivers or want-to-try-it people on here in the Great Falls Montana area? Days are getting longer n morning ski sessions would be great but we are new to the area n looking for ski contacts. Ski free for driving, no course driving. Thx, Matt.
  6. Ice is off in Great Falls MT.! First watetski of 2015 tonight. It felt so good but the old bones may dissagree tomorrow!
  7. I like skiing "calibration mode" when we freeski - usually have varying current speeds before reaching the course. Feels n sounds like it is trying to dependablely hold rpm. Using SG no magnet software.
  8. Yesterday in NW Montana - hang in there the warm is moving your way.
  9. Thx skibug those are about where the uship quotes i got came in.
  10. @jedgell Remember this early spring ski? @wawaskr Nope - "Northwest". Every time I think of making the trip I think of something more important to do :) Know this one will need some attention so I can't put it off too much longer.
  11. Anyone with an empty hitch coming this way on I90 from Tapps? Let me know what saving my back from the 14hr round trip is worth. Dealer has checked bearings and lights, 3000# total wt. Thx, Matt.
  12. Thx for inputs. Went with it just because of the price. Talk about irrational decision making and waterskiing! Now I need a ski to leave over there so I can ride the bike back and forth......
  13. I will be at Sun River several days a week this summer. Bought an older Malibu Skier to leave there n need some skiers/drivers or will buy gas for your boat. Any info on access to the course at the mouth of the Sun would be great. PM me, thx, Matt.
  14. Looking at an older boat to use this summer - will be spending a lot of time away from home course n boat. Found a cheap 87 malibu skier that looks reasonably cared for. Anyone know of problem areas to check out? Think they had wood floors n stringers did they hold up ok? Looks like a small boat so guessing it would ski favorably 32/34mph -32/35 compared with our 02 19skier? Thanks for input.
  15. Been wondering about my mental state as I recently considered driving 500 miles to beg for a tow at Bro Ho Lake - after reading this thread I can tell winter is getting to a bunch of skiers.
  16. And I thought my drive to get on the water was abnormal - I can't wrap my brain around watersports in -15F air temps. That is some truly amazing video.
  17. Thx all. Think your comments on the tail riding are right on. I have watched that video 10 times now and I am surprised how different the turns look than they have felt - I was sure the 2/4 turns were coming way around and the ski was trying to stop. Definitely will get fresh video to watch when the course floats again. @ShaneH Unbelievable video of Regina. My worst leg injuries came from OTF falls - I need to get after it like that girl and quit staying back on the ski trying to avoid those falls. @wtrskior Front heal is app. 29 1/2 and toe to heal. I will move the fin 0.020 back and the boot ahead a half inch for a fresh start when the ice goes. Only 16 days until the sun starts back!
  18. Thx all for input. @MarcusDski that is about what my friend Greg said when he came down here this fall so will continue working on it - next time the water thaws out!
  19. @Wish Yes 2.484 Had a -35/34mph skier give advice to "be patient" on those turns and it seems to be key to running the pass. I'm sure it is more operator error than setup but wondering if adjusting the fin or moving boots could minimize the tendency. I have some video a friend sent I will see if I'm tech enough to post it. @AB Feels like breaking at the waist when the ski stalls or bites too much angle(?) @Erik4c Read on here that wing doesn't contribute much until 34/36 mph so don't run it. @Marco Thx good things to try to try out. Thanks for comments Got the video on wow looks like nothing is coming easy! Lots to work on - stiff leggs/slow reflexes/old age balance - but still fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu6OFWyYSE8
  20. I regularly "over-turn" then loose angle at 2 & 4. I have not adjusted the fin on 2012 S2 since original setup (0.756, 6.870, 4.484, no wing) EXO boots all the way back. LFF, 67.5" 195# getting thru -32/32mph on a great day. Any setup advice? Thx.
  21. Sunk the course today summer is officially over here. Geese had the water all messed up anyway!
  22. Thanks for the input all. @richarddoane I keep telling myself i am done crashing but...
