  1. Searched old threads - anyone with fresh opinion? Sore ribs again and can't seem to ski smarter so maybe some protection would help. Thx, Matt.
  2. I'm with oldjeep - 60F water is summer water. I PB'd 5 days ago water was 48F. I was thinking cold water skis easier but we don't have regular course access until the water cools and other boaters quit - maybe it's just getting to ski more buoys.
  3. @schafer It is good to know there are "others" out there. Congrats n condolences both. We are usually ice free until early dec. so the course is still floating for awhile. Our water is still 47F. but admit it does encourage no-fall skiing.
  4. PB on 1st Nov. here in NW Montana! No tournaments for me but feels good to finally improve after the last few injuries.
  5. For what it is worth: I've been on a 2012 S2 - thank you Adrenaline Watersports - for two years. If you can be saved from otf crashes by a magic ski I think this is the one. Just when its a done deal, and I mean past the point of no return, this ski has somehow popped loose from the stall a dozen times for me. I believe it is the safest ski I have been on and haven't been interested in trying anything else. Now I am wondering if the "speed skin" will enhance that characteristic. Skiing is an expensive way to stay in shape!
  6. Justin we had 68F this morning. Never see any skiing on Jims lake now hope it is getting used.
  7. on the Flathead Reservation NW Montana.
  8. For a different perspective; when i was introduced to course skiing at age 50 it was instant passion for buoys. I got through -35 a handful of times and was having more fun than should be allowed when i learned that old men ski 34mph and my 30 mph skiing didn't mean much. I collected some injuries stepping up to 34 and had to learn some important lessons to ski higher speeds - hard to hurt yourself crashing at 30mph, easy at 34! I sometimes wonder if slow speed n short lines is the most fun and safest way for me to ski. Guess it depends on what your goals n age are. I do think cutting rope at slow speed was so much fun n low risk that it was a good for my learning curve, commitment to skiing and to staying fit. matt grimshaw flathead lake mt.

  10. Know there are a few in the NW that knew Jim Axe. He invited me to his lake for my first attempt at buoys - didn't make me feel bad for leaving muddy prints in the back of his first-time-in-the-water Malibu either. Seemed to be always hard at work on something, generous and very focused on his family - world needs more like that! Thanks Jim. http://missoulian.com/news/local/obituaries/james-daniel-axe/article_52f3eb88-9ee5-11e2-b1d9-001a4bcf887a.html
  11. "zo tries very hard to avoid 'waking up' Andy Mapple so it can get good times" now that is funny.
  12. Update on no magnet timing: just learned that "Skier to Skier" has PPSG no mag update for $95. http://www.skiertoskier.com/contents/en-us/p100.html
  13. Skied this 21' Vector/200Merc the first summer of course skiing. Solid tracking at our level and no wake to notice plus a fun cruise back to the lift at 70+mph. Bought a 91 Prostar the next spring and had to learn the course all over - thought it had a huge wake.
  14. Just found out PPSG no-magnet/version 8 software upgrade is $150 for anyone not wanting ZO simulator. May be old news but posting in case someone else wants to be done with magnets and thought they needed to spend $500 to do it.
  15. More than a mirror upside down in that pic - can't expect things to be right on a November ski boat.
  16. good enough weather for some exercise, even the driver got a ski in.
  17. Just want to say thanks for posting that one - words to live with!
  18. footloose42 I second the better slalom boat advice. Some years ago i was highly motivated and ran some passes behind my friends Wakesetter. I thought it was all good but that attitude has cost me a LOT of down time due to injuries. Safe skiing is the best skiing - if you are course skiing I think you really want a tow built for course skiing. We are blessed to be able to ski - better take care of the "equipment" we have been given to ski with!
  19. bump I would really like to hear some feedback from anyone who is using these thanks.
  20. It is inspirational to see what a motivated man can accomplish. I remember some "wins" from before someone told me I was supposed to be skiing 34mph. The skibuddy who introduced me to the course had a vdrive Malibu and as we went to ski one morning I bragged about finally running 32 off two times. He said "show me". So with his family in the boat and the camera rolling I was motivated and actually pulled off my third -32 pass. Slow pass, big wake, no form but I still enjoy that memory! Thanks for the inspiration markchilcutt, I'm determined to hang on until a legit -32 falls by the end of this summer!
