  1. I don't comment often but have to say I am amazed at the S2/exos also. Had not skied since 29 July last summer. Two weeks ago, fourth time in the water, got a great gate behind a dialed in boat and was so early at 2 ball -32@34mph that I was getting pulled into the buoy. I was timid about wrecking and that was the end of that pass. That is skiing on a different level for me - ever! My $.02; the exo system is designed for safety in otf falls and I think users should avoid turning potental otfs into back slides or something less dramatic - just take it and trust the product.
  2. Than Bogan that is so interesting. I have never heard anyone admit to dreaming slalom, let alone describe my sleeping brain like that - buoy chasing must do something to the human brain!
  3. Huh, must be a difference - my crew doesn't look like that on solstice. By the way, that isn't video Richard, but its OK if you have more to post.
  4. Any northern skiers celebrating the Sun's turn-a-round with a set/freeski on Thursday? Post some video!
  5. Just cut up an old post-surgery boot to limit forward ankle flexion on the new EXO's. Stock they are very low cuffed and I am like Wish - would rather break a leg than what's left of the ankle. The more the forces can be shared with big leg bones the better.
  6. This board is great - figured my question was an out-there long shot but have heard from exactly the right people. Thank you! Reflex, tongue stiffners or CarbonV/Stealth I will be ready for the water by spring.
  7. Thanks on the Stealth boot info. Haven't seen those before either. I really like two boots on one releasable plate, both knees have been worked on and I think keeping feet together should protect knees some. Wish the HO boots had taller cuffs, bet the rear stiffener idea could help if they were taller.
  8. Thanks, I had not looked at the reflex setup - looks like they might be what I need.
  9. On the off chance anyone is familiar with or uses Full Tilt snow ski boots with the changeable tongues: I just opened up and put together the new ski - S2 with EXO Forms - and after sticking my front foot in am convinced that I need to limit the range of motion they allow. My front foot has three bones fused and i'm just coming off a blown up calcaneus/ruptured achillies/broken ankle and don't want to repeat by over flexing the ankle. I am thinking about trying to mod the front boot with a Full Tilt tongue stiffener (http://www.porterstahoe.com/store/J09550115!FULLT/FULL+TILT+STIFFY+TONGUE+FLEX+10). Wondering if anyone is familiar with these or if there is better boot out there that will mount to the S2 and help limit range of motion? Thanks.
  10. Congrats! Good excuse to waste more time online.
  11. Flathead by the dam and the old outboard. Lots of fun and great exercise at 28 or 30mph.
  12. This should be in the "ugliest pass" contest but it is one of my first. The summer I turned 50 a friend introduced me to the course - I couldn't stop trying even after summer was long gone. Still hooked - if I could keep from breaking things.

  14. I have been injured in every binding I've used. Ankle sprains/ACL/ribs on rubber/toe plate. Foot/patella/collar bone breaks in tight double rubber and the worst foot/ankle/achillies damage now in hardshells. I have probably given up course skiing but still want to ski hard for exercise and sanity. My skiing ability increased with $ spent on binding choice so I don't feel I can draw a good conclusion on safety. Damage to feet ankles and knees is a major concern now over maximum control. I'm looking for your experienced opinion on safest set up for feet/ankles/ knees? Should both feet be locked together, should feet come out one at a time, loose rubber, hardshells? Thanks for taking time.
  15. I have been loving Exo's since going to them after a couple of ankle/foot repairs - until last week. Bent the bar, really wrecked my front foot, achillies and ankle. Seems like the front clip holding the forces for too long may be the bad. I am wondering about a small plate with dual-loc instead of the clip setup? I have never used dual-loc so would like some input from dual-loc users. Any other ideas for getting a cleaner release from sheer force at the front of the bar? I still like keeping feet together and not having to come out of boots so would like to make the Exo system work better for me. Thanks.
  16. Still for sale Malibuboats91.
  17. Thanks for the input. I went with the L and they are a pain to get on so XL would likely feel better. Think I am just too old to want to learn a new trick. They definitely work as advertised - felt like I had two fingers on the handle sometimes but never lost the handle.
  18. I just tried the Master Line "ProLocks" - for two passes. I have been using the Radar "loc" three finger gloves since HO was building them and don't want to try to adjust to these prolocks. Anyone with similar experience - what are you using now? Thanks, and anyone interested in a nearly new pair of size L prolocks? $50 shipped.
  19. Skiing - rubber boots were probably stiff and way too tight. Using EXO's now and so far so good.
  20. I have been using "Gravity" boots on a chin-up bar for the last couple of years. Cheap and don't require a lot of room when stored.
  21. Hate to say it but I hit some ice - expensive ski session! /vanilla2/uploads/FileUpload/10/830.JPG
  22. I had been through that scenario wondering if the convenience of no observer was worth the potential risks. The FW&P person who did the research concluded that there was no increased "incidence or risk" found by the studies when mirror laws were observed. There is significant risk anytime we are on the water - fisherman fall overboard, people get prop cuts & watersports produce lots of injuries. I am sure extra bodies on the boat can be a plus as well as an increase to risk, just not statistically proven one way or the other. Thanks for the good thoughts and the contact in UT.
  23. Thanks for the input DW. Here is a link to the Minnesota study:Â http://web1.msue.msu.edu/imp/modtd/33840420.html. I hate to just post some info and hope enough boaters respond to make a difference, but I don't want to spend a bunch of time/$ targeting serious boaters with a form letter/petition. Always looking for the easy button! That may be the best approach if I can't come up with the right representative who will just take it on.
  24. Thanks for the input. I sent some info to the parks & recreation person at FW&P on studies done in MN. and FL. that show no increase in accidents with mirror laws in those states. He did some research and came back to me and the sponsoring senator that he was onboard. The new senator said she would feel safer with a driver and mirror than with a boatload of distracted observers and promptly gave the placeholder to something else. I am not sure why this is moving backward now, but I do think numbers talk. I want the senator to hear from a LOT of names and places in the state to convince her that many people care about this, but I don't want to do any more work or spend any more $ than neccasary. I am wondering if anyone has ideas on how contact/organize boaters who would take the time to contact a senator. I know Idaho just passed a no-third rule for boats in a slalom course - not quite what I want but they got something done.
