  1. My $.02... I hate the bureaucracy behind Zero Off. It's total BS how it was forced on us. Somewhat forced by the boat mfrs & the developers of the system but more so the governing body of our sport telling us they have no control over it and there is nothing they can do. Total BS. Or at this point it should be, had no control and nothing we could've done. It’s here to stay so I hope somebody can figure out how to bring those of us along who rarely ski behind it. If I could spend $2k and add it to my boat I’d do it in a heart beat. But I don’t have $50k lying around to play this game. I’ll stick with my current set up and stay away from tournaments for now. But that’s a dangerous game as I probably will never return to skiing tournaments. No biggie right? Most of you won’t miss me anyway.
  2. Well the money is not mine.  -1 for me this one & only weekend. Ski well everyone. On the other hand a buddy of mine brought me some seasoning to try from a favorite restaurant.  http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg274/sixat38/SB092010.jpg They put it on sweet potato frys but it looks like it could have many uses. And pretty much every one I spoke to said they loved a squirrelly beaver. Huh?

  4. Who’s this Matt McCuddy sandbagger? http://www.ballofspray.com/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif Hurt, whatever. Wait he’s the guy who danced all night with my wife at the Buck Owens Crystal Palace in 2006 IIRC. Ah the memories. Well you better bring some game cuz I’m taking you all out. Blondes, brunettes, Zippy’s, Zappy’s all of ya. Sure my average hasn’t changed in 3-4 years but I’ve spent so much on gear this year that’s got to be good for 4 or 5 more buoys. I’ve also spent a bunch of time free skiing this summer.  Seriously. I’m putting up some big spray on both sides of the wakes now. Parrish big. I’ve gotta be the best skier on the lake this summer. I did ski some buoys back in June so if they haven’t moved them I’ll be good to go. Bring it.  Like I said earlier, I’m donating to the cause. Good skiing everyone. Jim
  5. Alright I'm in... I'll donate to the cause. Signed up today.  Where do I register/forward my excuses?
  6. Size 9 with Sequence plate and all hardware. Molded once. Skied 10-12 sets max. $350 or offer. I'll pay shipping. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg274/sixat38/stradaB.jpg
  7. Does a person have to enter before Sept 1 or before the first tourney they ski. This ? may have already been covered in prior months, so sorry if duplicating.
  8. Unfortunately sometimes... the Golden Rule = he who has the gold, makes the rules.
  9. Richard, Tate has done it for fun at his place and (IIRC) I belive the anchors are all still in place. Wouldn't be to diffucult to do I wouldn't think. Problem is, time. Not to hang the buoys but to give the people who want to try it a shot at it. That tourney is 3 event and multi-round per event.
  10. I say we set 6 more turn balls out mirroring the current ones and make the rightys start on the opposite side from the leftys.
  11. Richard, try the Mr Clean product Magic Eraser. It has removed quite a few things for me I didn't think it would.
  12. I was planning on it but won't be making the trip this year. Good luck to all. The site is looking great.
  13. No worries JP. Don't ruin what you might gain in the future by trying to get me a ski ride. BTW, the reason I asked is cuz I'm heading to a tourney in WY and was looking for a practice ride on the way down. You could make that trip pretty easy if a tourney is in your sites soon. Well easy compaired to me. Also Helena is good time as far as tourneys go. Neither are close but nothing is in our part of the ski world.
  14. JP, I thought there was a new(er) site out near Manhattan about 20mi west of Bozeman. And that being said how hard would it be to catch a set there Thursday June 24 around 1pm? Give or take 20 mins. Okay, any time that afternoon http://www.ballofspray.com/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif
  15. Good strategy. So you tried to "ice" the kid eh. It's cuz he's from the east side would be my guess.  Dirty poolÂ
  16. Just an update. First, in both boots the fabric was completely detached upon arrival. I wanted a permanent fix so IMO trimming it was the only option. I thought about glue (re gluing?) and just couldn't get a good feeling about it holding permanently. Being as I'm pretty finicky duct tape was not an option and from my experience duct tape has a 100% failure rate in nearly all applications. I had my wife look at them to see if she had some mystry crafting tool that might do the trick and all she said was, "wow, surely a woman didn't design these". So out came the exato knife.  It took some time and was quite cramped but I got it done and am satified with the results.
  17. Alright, so how exaxtly did you guys trim the fabric in the footbed? From what I'm finding it's a royal PITA. And if I get to close to the edges and clip the stitching hows that going to affect the integrity of the binding? Right now I'm dealing with 2 pair of these and not real happy about it. It's not that I don't mind modifying new equipment but at best I'm going to have a bunch of gouge marks all ove the inside of the binding. Unless I'm missing something obvious.
  18. Going across the border may be different (might not chance it). But here in WA state the sales tax blows if you ask me. Say I'm the third owner of a '70 Chevelle SS 454. The guy who bought it new paid tax on it. Then the second owner paid tax again when he bought it and now I have to pay tax again when I buy it & go to license it. That's complete double, tripple etc etc dipping on the governments part if you ask me. And the tax I pay is probably more than what the first owner payed for the complete car new.
  19. No fair, two against one. However, it does look like I might have to travel that way for a tourney since there are only two in central WA this year. And one of those I can't make it to. That being said, I might not see you guys 'til September.
  20. Funny. You 206-ers. Yakima is not eastern WA just like Seattle is not "the coast". JL
  21. lkb, sorry but I have not seen Chet ski in awhile. And I just looked back on when we went down and skied with him. It was spring of 2006. And then we flew him up here mid summer for a refresher so he could see our progress. Or lack there of.  So it's been more than a couple years ago. IIRC he was just getting started on coaching the OHG at that time. Or rather that winter he had just bought into the idea that it might have some benifits. He said it was going to be nerve racking at first but to start when the 55's hit the front of the boat on a couple passes. Then he said wait 'til you see them come out from behind the boat. Then he said try and work your way 'til the tip of your ski was at the 55's before pulling out. And he was pushing the tip of the ski idea and then adjust from there. That being said Wim was not starting that way while we were there.  He was experimenting with the "new gate" but giving it more room. There was a video from the boat of him floating around somewhere from June of '06 and it's apparent he is starting before the 55's come into the picture. He also has a little glide when he gets his full width. You all have probably seen it. Him running down the line, 28 through 39.  What I found was. If I started my pull out when the tip of my ski hit the 55s, got correct width (like Terry is talking about) I was rushing my turn in and loading the line hard so I would make the gates. Or thinking I needed to load hard to make them. And was fast into 1 ball. From the start of the pull out to turn in was just to quick for my little brain to process. I panicked sort of. Not all the time but it took a lot of concentration to not panic. So I have since settled on starting when the buoys appear out of the back of the boat.  I think this is why I have thoughts of going back to a two handed gate in the spring. Because every thing feels fast in the spring.  Yes, I'm LFF.
  22. It's been a couple years since I skied with Chet but at that time he was not teaching the one hander like Terry's doing it. He was starting the pull out later and making a more fluid turn in similar to Rossi but not quite as abrupt as MB. I have heard that's changed a little. Myself, I have thoughts of returning to a two handed gate every year for the last few years. I stick with the one hander because as spring progresses, and I get some sets logged, in my mind I have a better chance of salvaging an okay gate if I screw something up along the way. There is nothing wrong with a two handed gate a-la Willy, CP or Doane. There's a plug for you Zippy. How 'bout that company.  My bigest problem is I load the line too heavy upon my turn in and through the wakes. Gotta think resist. I can get away with loading it heavy all the way through 32 off because with the extra space created I have enough time to slow the ski and turn 1 ball. If I'm on my game 35 is even managable. But at 35 you really can't be playing tug-o-war. Or at least with my stackhouse form I can't.  My $.02
  23. I think I found it on page one... head or flat from what JD said. Correct? Not many use stem I just wanted to verify.
  24. So how are ya'll measuring your DFT? Stem or head? Or slot caliper/other? Length I would assume is tips.
