  1. Hey all, Just wondering if there are any Canon DSLR shooters amongst those here. Wondering what you choices of lens's are for shooting from the boat. Currently using a 50D and switching between an EF-S 18-200mm and a EF 70-200mm f2.8L. The 18-200mm is only mid range & does not focus super fast While the 70-200mm is superb, at times it is too long at the short end. So currently considering either an EF-S 15-85mm, or a EF 24-105mm f4L. Anyone like to offer up any comments on what they are using & the pros & cons. Cheers Phil
  2. I've had this problem. Pulled the display apart & found that the screws that sandwiched the LCD against the circuit board had come loose. They weren't pressing the display & the conductice rubber strip against the PCB properly. Tightened them up & a little grop of glue to stop it happening again & it's been fine for 3 season. Cheers.
  3. Gotta watch out, They are everywhere, I went to school with one. Just was a "Haw" not a "Hor".
  4. @DefectiveDave‌ Just looking at the graph & considering how the load was increasing at balls 1,2,3, & 4, then dropped back for 5 & 6. Doing the mental analysis of this when I looked at the time scale & realised it was not real data.... Lol, came back to reality... Such good brain food though. Cheers.
  5. Btw, @DefectiveDave. Excellent project! Just love data.... Cheers
  6. @Horton, You could start some interesting discussions with this.... Skiing same pass of various different ski's. Results would be interesting. Not sure it would prove anything, but would be interesting to know what results looked like. Cheers Phil
  7. @Horton‌ See edit above.
  8. Still not get much here. @horton If it go to the bottom of the page I can switch between mobile & full sites but I see little difference. Only thing changing is the sidebar disappears from the right of the screen in the mobile site. Text & layout is still way to small to be usable. I'm sure I found the site very usable on my old Atrix. Will try & boot it later & check it again. Cheers Edit: Checked the Atrix & it's doing the same as the Galaxy.
  9. Out of curiosity, Does it feel like sometime very different is happening with the tail of the ski, given it's radical change from conventional design.
  10. Freddie's last jump, how bad was that timing. Ad break kicked in just as the skis were about to touch the water. Then cuts back after all the announcements. How far was it?
  11. @MattP, Screen shot attached. Have tried Chrome & FireFox & both the same. Scrolling to the bottom & zooming I see the option to return to the full site.....
  12. @Horton, Out of respect & appreciation, I've now changed my links to go to the home page first. Keep up the good work. Cheers. PS Moomba is Rockin right now.... Even if it is Jumping.... At night.
  13. Why am I seeing more of a full page version than a mobile version on my new phone. I'm sure it was easier & more mobile friendly on my old one. Motorola Atrix Vs Galaxy S4 Thanks
  14. @Horton, Sometimes our patience is directly related to our Bandwidth. Things are good this morning, Home page was completely loaded after only 12 seconds.
  15. @Horton, Does your vote count? Don't you Build it? Anyway might of mentioned in before, having the headlines scrolling in the forum page. Think it would be cool & push us who are time poor there a bit more often, Cheers
  16. I admit I miss a lot of good content this way, but it's become a routine to check about 1/2 dozen forums this way.
  17. Curious how many others miss a lot of the content on the main home page here. My Favorites Link brings me straight to the forum & I am often miss content there unless others are mentioning it. What is everyone elses habits?
  18. Streaming at the moment.... Boys Jump. http://moombamasters.com/ & Broadcasting
  19. Yeah I know the whole history, including the local manufacturing plant.... Was just amused at how Stevie Jacobs reported it on the Today Show....
  20. Just hearing about this Malibu WakeSetter.... Designed & Built by a Great Aussie company....
  21. @Horton Do what I did while I was hanging out for my "L" lenses. Get one of these..... They do draw the odd weird look from by-standers though. http://gerrygibbscamerawarehouse.com.au/images/Nikon%2070-200%20cup.jpg Actually looks a better mug than my Canon one. Cheers.
  22. @defectivedave, Yep all from the boat. haven't posted any yet though. Plot is from a bit of free software called ExposurePlot. http://www.vandel.nl Cheers
  23. Interesting if I redo those stats excluding the shots done with the 70-200, which was always zoomed right out. Lot of stuff int the 30-60mm range & again up around 90. Shots were of 15' off skiers & a bit of tricks.
  24. @jhughs, Thinking the 24-105 F4 L is the best fit, but would just like a little more at each end. A little wider would be good on crop.
  25. Please be carefull mentioning "L" lenses, they can cause conflict to arise here.... 70-200 F2.8 ISII L on my 50D is a bit tight a lot of the time. Which makes me have to resort back to the EF-S 18-200. BIG step sideways, but find 70mm can still be too long for a lot of shots. It is a good Kit lens, BUT not L sharp & only Micro Motor focus, so is what it is? Thought a 24-104 might be suitable, but not particularly wide. @jhughes, Mrs Me understands the value of Carbon Skis & "L" Glass Vs Jewellery..... 70-200 2.8II L & 100-400L. Great L lens's but think I need something shorter with good IQ. Your comment is interesting @Horton..... 28-70mm, do you sometimes want a little more reach? Maybe 100 to 120mm? Interesting bit of info from yesterday.... Bear in mind that the 70mm figure is distorted as I took the 70-200mm for the first runs & used it zoomed all the way out.
