  1. See..... http://www.ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/7805/check-out-the-great-autumn-conditions
  2. Wo! Forgot the early '80's when I was an Ex-teenager. Used to drive a ski partner up to 35' off. That was back in the days of Foot throttles & Big Speedo's, like about 10" round.
  3. We have ignition! Well actually that was last Sunday about 2:00pm. Actually got two on the meter since the rebuild. Anzac Day down here so getting 3to days on the eater before the week-end. Water temp around 18 to 20, so chilling off a bit.
  4. Looking at the back of that Hull, I'd be guessing the wake would be pretty smooth at slalom speeds!
  5. Had a couple of Animals over past years. Chance of me getting it on in the water was none & zero. Always had to sit or stand on the rear step so the lube didn't dilute. Went with an Attack on my S2 back before christmas & absolutely love it. Comfort is great & I no longer having the living daylights cramped out of my foot.
  6. Heads back from HeadCo. Valves & seats barely needed touching. Was quite amazed really. Guides a bit worn, but now fitted with K-Line guides. Seats re-ground & valves got a very slight grind. Crack tested, cleaned & surface ground. Now just need to clean up the block & other surfaces & reassemble. Really impressed with the condition of bore, cam & lifters considering this is a carby engine that has done 16 season & 750 hours. Always used a Castrol Edge 25w-50 & changed at 30 to 40 hours, depending on how the season was panning out. Looks like the maintenance schedule has paid off.
  7. @richarddoane, They are definately off the the local head reco guy to have a bath, crack test, seats machined & surface machined. Didn't think of replacing the valves unless they needed it. Tending to think they might be OK with a light grind. Was thinking new lifters while it's down too. As far as the bottom end is concerned, with the compression where it is was thinking rings & bearings can wait a bit & be a planned winter project. Think this winters project is meant to be finishing the outdoor kitchen & Bbq area, concrete pathway down the side of the house, some landscaping & the other things that have been put off for "yet another weekend camped at the lake". Engine out for a full rebuild was probably not previously mentioned in the "do it in winter" projects.
  8. 750 hours, Head gasket blown between 3 & 5 and just begining to leak between 2 & 4. Dry cranking compression of 150-160 PSI on the other 4 cylinders that had no leaks. What are the opinions on the hours from those in the know?
  9. It's basically a grease gun hose. Easiest thing to to is take the grease nipple to a supplier & they'll find everything you need to fit. Bearing Centres are a good place to go, type that stocks heaps of bearings, filters, belts & pulleys etc. Here's one like I used, just needed a female bush on the end & a grease nipple:- http://www.harborfreight.com/18-inch-flexible-grease-hose-92657.html http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_13651.jpg
  10. Had one for years, but only greased it on rare occasions as the rudder bush is buried down behind the fuel tank. Removed it & put in an 18" remote grease hose so it's now easily accessible. Remote hose stockist should be easy to find.
  11. @richarddoane, We're an ancient mob of convicts down here. Like to do things backwards, like spin the water the oppostite way down plugholes. You seriously haven't seen this configuration? Quite common down here. Think the original concept was keeping things more compact & dates back to when hull ranged in the 15' to 17' range. Clutch drive is off the timing end. Welcome to drop over for a look, you skills could come in handy....
  12. Beautiful Autumn weather down here..... Check out the water..... Bailed out early with a boat issue.....
  13. Alberto, Buy Ed's Book he has on offer. Think I got it about 15 years ago & have since built 2 slightly different coursed loosely based on ideas I learnt from it. Most of the changes I made were based on what I already had available & what could be easily sourced here. It's a great source of ideas.
  14. @BraceMaker, The "independent bouy" aspect seems only to make things more difficult. Personally wouldn't want to have to deal with independent bouys. For interest sake, our deep end anchor is a Crank shaft, dunno from what, but something fairly industrial. Its in about 10m of water & 70m out from the pre-gates. Hasn't moved at all in the 11 years it's been down there. It's not the one with the pulley on it, that ones at the shallow end. Probably what's a bit more impressive is that fact that that first 15m length of rope that we connect the rest of the anchor line to has been in the water for over 10 years. Here's hoping it holds up a bit longer, so we don't need to deal with a new anchor.
  15. Adding to what @BraceMaker suggests. Serious Anchor at one end, engine block etc, with a pulley attached & a float of some sort above it. Anchor line thru the pully & up to the float. Mainline tension can be adjusted at the float. Had this once & consisted of a Truck tyre with a couple of boards over the top.
  16. @MattP, We need a fund to get @Horton to demo one. 35 off free skiing with a camera chase plane. Would make superb entertainment seeing it being dragged all over the pond. Should draw more interest than "Horton does long line" challenge did! Maybe the one with the "Tower" would be the one to trial. Just need to come up with the Challenge component of the whole exercise.
  17. Results to Sunday:- https://assets.imgstg.com/assets/console/document/documents/NationalsResultsexMonday.pdf
  18. You mean these? http://www.solowatersports.com/ Think It would be interesting seeing a strong skier behind one! Other words that come to mind include "Out of Control"
  19. Well mostly, Sometime if it's still in after a fall I'd leave it there to avoid the hassel of getting it back in, but in general I prefer to save the extra energy consumed by starting both feet in. Originally learnt both feet in, but learnt to drag one a few years later to help underpowered boats & save the muscles & back a bit.
  20. @MISkier, Bluetooth, apps etc would be great, but don't think it's the right direction for the focus of R&D resources for a company like PP or ZO. Ongoing hours would need to be put into keeping that sort of app & interface working with all manner of different devices. Writing data to a card would be a once it's done, it's done type or development. Not a lot of need to keep going back to revise it. Bit like the GoPro App for mobiles..... Behaves differently on 4 different devices in our household, & most less than perfectly, with issues waiting to be resolved.
  21. @efw, What about a completely after the fact option..... Having PP write to a data file on a flash drive or sd card. each line of data could contain time, speed & then all ball times. Could also include all options set. Would probably be very usefull for fine tuning systems.
  22. Results from Thursdays skiing at the Aussie Nationals for interest sake. https://assets.imgstg.com/assets/console/document/documents/ThursdaySlalomResults.pdf
  23. Looks like there's little to no feed for this outside the site.
  24. @Skoot1123, Would be curious to know what the Premium is & what cover you have. Just had home & contents down here.... up by 46%. Would like to know how we compare with over there.
