OK, whoevers countries water ski association...

For example, the BWSW (british water ski) has information that can be used in impact assessments when trying to open a new site or keep one from closing (whether you can talk to the right person might be another story!)

It's in Canada but boats being allowed on lakes has nothing to do with Waterski Canada.  There are reasources they can provide with respect to setting up courses, but even that is quite limited.

Use a drone and see if there's any colour change when take off. Once skiing it'd be minimal compared to first pull. (Surf boats would direct their trust downwards all the time)

They definitely do stir up the bottom.  At least to 3 or 4' depth.  So does swimming though....

And the fight begin!  Tree huggers neighbors want to get rid of motor boat on my lake and we have to get organize. Our lake is shallow and the course is in 9 to 13' of water. They claim we are stirring up the mud and putting back sediment and phosporous  bla bla bla...

Anyone knows of any studies on skiboat and how deep the prop wash can go ?

Is the lake managed by any government entity?   Transport Canada manages most waterways and where my place is in Ontario the township has some jurisdiction as well.  It would take a lot of political interference to make such a massive change.

Waterways are public entities, anyone can access them.  Since you have property on the water, assuming you can launch your boat, there's not much anyone can do to stop you.

The ski course is a seperate issue, I was told by transport Canada that if the lake owners association doesn't want the course, it needs to be removed, even if you have a permit, baring major legal battles...

Yes you need to organize.  Go to every homeowner who has a boat... Be nice 🙂

The conversation I wish we were having is about how to test skis for degradation. How does snow skiing measure rebound? If I am correct that the standard way we measure new skis is useless to measure performance decline then what is the correct method?

You test old alpine skis rebound by skiing on new skis

This happened this summer at a lake we ski on. Driver ran over the guide buoy and it hooked on the boat. 3 people were thrown out of the boat.

Were very lucky that nobody was hurt.

I can't see how that's possible. 1/4" rope will snap in a milisecond.

    What did it catch on???

Stick to Reflex - there's a reason why Reflex is one of the most popular bindings out there.

Not sure if Fluid Motion is even around anymore

Very much around but probably not building as many boots as in the past.  Have seen a number of old quattro systems in regular use for over a decade, still.

  7. I'm considering going to an anti roll handle.  Never used one before.

    Any feedback on that?

I have had elbow tendonitis and use a bent bar for years.

One thing I notice is the masterline anto roll handle only comes in spectra.  I'm sure they would be able to make a poly version but love to hear peoples thoughts on either.

Ok so how does a higher hour 200 factor into all this?  This just listed 2011 200 is actually a couple grand cheaper than the 2009 listed above, albeit with about 10x the hours.

A transmission swap will be a few k.  Although with any used boat you never know.

The yellow 200 is the Ottawa Waterski clubs boat.  Solid folks.

I’m a big fan of Blacktec but just got a killer deal on the Syndicate DryFlex through Moosejaw- top and spring suit for $230…  I’ve only tried it on at home so far but the construction seems a bit more beefy than the Camaro - hoping it is a little less fragile.  My blacktec that is blue inside is falling apart fast.  The one that is black inside seems to be doing much better.

What size suit and what size are you?   Tia

Thanks everyone.  The main thing is that this boat is 25k CDN!  Or about 18k USD.  Here's the listing: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1693488147763373/

I am for sure at least going to see it.  Looks like the vinyl has been redone at some point.  Gel coat looks faded (it was on my 94 Sport as well and came back wonderfully, I surprised the fiberglass people who said I'd need new gel coat).  I do understand the lack of trailer as a pretty big barrier, though.  Can be a major pain, but there is literally nothing else in this price range for 07-09.  But if I add another 6-8k on for a trailer then I'm in the 30+ range where options start to open up.

So I've been specifically looking at 07+ for the ZO setup/ease of conversion if 07.  This is because the PP setup on my 94 Sport seems a little unstable or slow to react at 34/36mph.  32 is seems much better - perhaps this is just a characteristic of my boat/prop etc. but it's made me want to transition to ZO.  Yes I am on the latest StarGazer v.  But perhaps I'm focusing too much on the ZO setup and need to expand my search to include down to 99 so that I can get the hull first and spend a couple grand later to convert to ZO.  OR, again... I wait and save and pony up.  I am just impatient and want a new hull for the rest of the season, which I admit is quite short at this point.  Gah.

I ski tournaments and own a 01 196 with zbox and get into 11m at 55k.  I have little issues skiing different boats.

My buddy has a 96 sn with stargazer in our lake and it's a nice boat but night and day from my 01.

Zbox is good enough for 99% of skiers, especially if you don't ski tournaments.

There are lots of boats for sale all the time.  I see this one as a headache. JMO

  11. The jump is too close to the slalom course, it should be outside the turn buoys at least.

I don't think it would have made a difference in Nate's score for this event but from a safety perspective this should be a permanent change in the homologation of events, world wide.

I also made a point about Nate's near miss at Okee, at night no less, at that time.  It was far far too close and an extreme safety risk.

It's not worth the risk, and no argument can be made to suggest otherwise.

Run your private ski school how you want, but in sanctioned events we can't continue with these close calls.

  12. I spoke with Larry in depth a few weeks ago, he's using his 196 at a lake I ski at, to test the system (no zero off).

Based on our discussion, it may be something at current iteration rec skier would use if they had a driver who ran over the buoys...   he's only tested with skiers into 35off.

It's not even close to being a tournament pull, although maybe for some skiers it could give greens on sure path, it sounded like more advanced skiers would pull it around.

I explained to Larry how some drivers can make great surepath Numbers but the feel is horrible, while others feel good with similar numbers and urged that to be the goal in the system.

Price was loosely quoted at ~5k.
