Enjoyed my time behind each and every one of them.
  2. I bought these Strada boots used about four years ago. Pretty good bang for the buck as far as I'm concerned. At least they didn't fail when I was skiing (as far as I know).
  3. I had a Rawley Vision on my old MC 205. It was an amazing view, but a real pain with the open bow. Could double as an Archimedes Death Ray for jet skiers in a pinch.
  4. Flip flops, eh? That doesn't sound so bad. ;) This is the "Pro Build" front, which I think is akin to their jump boot. Little tighter across the arch. Glad I didn't sell them a few years ago. Not really in the mood to buy a new boot at the moment. My prediction is that the Wiley's will feel a little be more stout (that's right, more) than the Strada's with the laces loose on top.
  5. Went out for my first set of the year yesterday and saw that the outer shell on my Radar Strada boots was completely ripped away. It must have happened at the end of last year when pulling my foot out and I just never noticed it. Ski buddy kindly let me use his ski for a quick set, which was awfully nice of him. At any rate, I still have my Wiley's and just put them back on the ski. Kind of excited to give them a go again. I liked the Stradas and spent several seasons on them. And I even got used to leaving the upper laces all loosey goosey. So who among you have gone to contemporary bindings for a few years and gone back to Wiley's or comparable old school bindings. What can I expect? Did you stick with them?
  6. Check out Coversports. Fantastic product. Mine is going on 7 years old and in great shape. No vents on mine though. Sunbrella breathes pretty well. http://www.coversports.net/about.html

  8. The O'Neill Hybrid board shorts are great. Ski in them, let them dry, wear them out to dinner. My favorite board shorts ever.
  9. I am so sad to read this. Andy was a GIANT of the ski world and, from all accounts, a wonderful guy.
  10. Be aware that the 95 PCM GT-40 did not have a Fuel Control Cell (added in 96). I believe the purpose of the FCC was to alleviate vapor lock.
  11. Idea draws up images for me of an autobailer on a Sunfish sail boat. http://www.torresen.com/sunfish/images/bailer_detail.gif
  12. @303Skier The 94 Bud Boat spray mod was described to me by "Bret" on the MC Forum. He got a close look at it. He described it to me as if someone took a "rat tail" file to the aft portion of the spray pocket on each side and glassed over it. In essence, it sounds like the "hooked" hulls on the 197, but done only to the spray pocket. I have not personally seen one. But I'd swear I can see it in this picture if I squint really hard. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/LDca1mlB4oHMxykEE0JgRiOgKlqKvYIoUduOhR37yMB7=w620-h460-no
  13. This site went from BallofSpray to BallofPanda so smoothly, I hardly noticed. http://i.imgur.com/RFbXe.gif
  14. To elaborate on @Horton 's post. Perfect Pass filed a declaratory judgment action against e-controls concerning its 1997 patent on its servo driven control for mechanical throttle systems. That suit never went to trial. The parties settled. As a result of that settlement, there was a patent swap of sorts. Perfect Pass gave up its OEM contracts and swapped its DBW patents for econtrols's GPS technology. Perfect Pass retained the patents to its servo driven system, which, at the time, had about eight years remaining on them. Perfect Pass was also permitted to service DBW boats with its systems already installed. I think Perfect Pass had done this long enough to know what it was they were giving up in the OEM contracts. Those may have been lucrative, but it was undoubtedly the most service intensive end of the business, i.e., dealing with skiers who were particularly picky about 0.02 seconds ball-to-ball. Meanwhile, Perfect Pass bought themselves eight more years of exclusivity in providing speed control for all boats up through 2004 (and those through 2008 that already sported Perfect Pass). And with Econtrols's GPS technology, they were able to get SG dialed in a lot better and do away with the need for magnets. At the time, Perfect Pass was exploring expanding into the I/O market. I'm not sure whether they are offered as an OEM product on any of those.
  15. I put the one together that's on the MC forum. It's the same one as is on the Tyler Ski Club website. I used it when I bought my 98 SN, and have had very few surprising issues in my ensuing eight years of ownership. I have seen the one on CCFan, which is good as well.
  16. @Jody_Seal I can render a guess at one of those questions. That era of MC (91--98) has very little clearance under the motorbox as is. With the original 351w in it, there was less than 1.5" of clearance. It would be easy enough to make a collar to go around the base of the motorbox to raise it up however much you needed, which would have the added benefit of keeping the ropes and other gear from slipping into the bilge every time the cover is raised.
  17. I'm told Scrubbing Bubbles and a soft brush works wonders on neglected vinyl. Follow up with a wet towel rinse and Vinylex or 303.
  18. While the display is on, menu over to the settings and see what voltage it is reading. Then, call Perfect Pass. The first thing they will ask you about is voltage. But their customer service is fantastic and they will get things straightened out for you in short order.
  19. When I owned my MasterCraft, they were my go-to place for parts, especially the hard to find stuff. Lex, in the parts department is the nicest guy you can imagine talking to, and often went out of his way for me when I had a weird request.

  21. I'm far from an expert, but have had a lot of instruction. One thing I notice is something our instructors always told my wife. It looks like "you are leading with your head." If you watch your turn, particularly around 2, 4, and 6, your head tilts/dips in the direction of the turn. My understanding is that this puts you off balance and can lead to some pretty nasty falls. My wife has a history of busted ear drums our ski instructor has attributed to hear leading with her head like this. Correcting this works in tandem with keeping your shoulder's squared to the boat, eyes on the transom. Again, no pro here. Pretty bad actually. But lots of instructional tips stored away in the old noggin.
  22. Great story! Sort of a longstanding tradition in our club that if wallys are messing around near the course on jet skis or tubes or wake boards or whatever, you flag them down and invite them to ski. Occasionally, they are interested and, not only are you doing something nice, but you also have an opportunity to idle over to the course while explaining the importance of smooth water to them. :) Win-win.
