@BlueSki - during a recent trip to the Texas coast, some black tar ended up on one person's shoes and got all over the inside of the car. I tried a few solutions, but no luck. WD-40 was the only one that worked to cut it so that it could be blotted and vacuumed out. I followed that with a traditional carpet cleaning product and it looks like new again.

That 1-ball was a mess. It was almost as if the ski rope lifted the ski tip up and she had to reset the edge.

My wife counted up the hours spent before and after the tournament. They are up above 20 hours. More than half a work week of time lost. The registration file arrived with some corrupt elements. It took a while to get it to work sort of right. Team scoring was messed up. The Google Sheets registration ended up with duplicate skiers, missing skiers, and two skiers with the same USAWS #. Then, the scorebook would not allow connectivity to waterskiresults.com for live scoring. It crashed more frequently than every before during the tournament. Then it would not allow for export import from the other computer used on the second lake. After the tournament, there were multiple errors discovered. When she tried to correct them, the WSTIMs software would either crash or present a strange error message. Eventually, she had to write down the scoring data, delete the skiers and re-enter them and rescore them. This happened to many skiers. We spent hours just reading off the paperwork while she verified that WSTIMS had the correct info before finalizing the scorebooks. All this as a volunteer. She is a regular/senior official in multiple events, I forget which she is senior. She has performed as chief official many times and does so each year. She said that she would not be chief scorer again while the website is down. It was too stressful and too much work.

I'm not going to go into details. However, all of those who are hosting a collegiate tournament soon better plan for a very frustrating night of cussing at WSTIMS due to AWSA website being down. Let's just say that the chief scorer in my house has not been in a good mood all evening.

So, I found a Radar rear plate. I discovered that the holes sort of lined up. So, I mounted the rear of the feather frame to the plate and them mounted both to the ski. The bolts in back are too long, so I'll source something better or cut them more flush. This is good enough for the skier to try it out. No mods needed to either plate or feather frame. I used slightly longer bolts in the front which go through both plates and into the inserts. The bolts in the back are flat head and fit perfectly into the countersunk slots of the aluminum plate so, the ski surface is protected.

The ski in question is a 66" 2016 Vapor. The factor location for the front boot is 29.25. For the skier, we settled on 29.33-ish. So, while the front binding is as far forward as possible, it is not far off stock. It's just the feather frame mounting holes are not in harmony with the Vapor inserts. Likewise, the rear boot is maxed forward. However for the skier's small feet, this means a sizable gap between the boots, which is what I would like to address. Pics below. It looks like my only options are to move them to vapor/carbitex boots or manually attach an aluminum plate under the feather frame as noted in some of the responses above.

This is the same problem I am trying to solve for the skier: Rear binding will not get close enough to the front binding. Thanks for the insight.

Just confirming what @Taperflex said. "The Safe Sport cycle starts over every four years since they currently only have three refreshers in their curriculum. So, since you have completed all three of them, you will need to start back over on the core course this year, you will complete refresher 1 next year, and so on."

I have been a Level 1 Instructor for many years and was required to do SafeSport training starting 2019. So, I did the 90-minute one back then. Each year, I did a refresher. There are 3 of them. Last year, they said to redo # 3 again. So my transcript shows: Full, Refresher 1, Refresher 2, Refresher 3, Refresher 3. So, it's time again. It expired while I was travelling. I log in today expecting to just do another 20 minute refresher. However, it looks like the one they want me to do is the 90-minute one again. Ugh. I sent a note to HQ member services to just make sure before I waste my time doing the wrong course.

I agree. It is the principle of it: not one mention of a hack; it's just "down". That omission doesn't help build/repair any trust with leadership. That was more of my point which I should have articulated better.

Mistakes and shit happen. How they are rectified determines character. While no one wants to be party to an issue, I put more stock into a company or retailer who does the right thing to make the issue right and the customer whole.

I received an email from Nate as an official acknowledgement of the event. There was no mention of a hack or security compromise. In most corporate settings when a breach occurs they immediately assess risks to private personal data. I was thinking about what might be within the AWSA database. (Hard to say what is at USAWS and what is at AWSA...) IIRC, every single official has an address and phone number that can be shown when searching for officials. I think they have everyone's birthdates. Possibly the Bio data is stored there which includes employer, hobbies, etc. Given all of this and possibly more, I would expect AWSA to formally inform membership of what data was present and possibly compromised.

A local club in our area created a Google form for "online" registrations, link to paypal for fees, and link to the official release form PDF. Sort of like old school registration, but hey, it will get it done.

So, the skis are on their way to the UK. Retail shipping would have been $585. I created an account and got a discount code which saved the buyer $250! All good.

I'll add one thing to factor into anyone's design... Ski tournaments start when the sun is low in the Eastern sky and sometimes end when it is low in the Western sky. Consider options and configurations which maximize shade for judges without obscuring their full view of the ski area. I have wondered if an A-frame roof with the ridge oriented N-S so that the sides come down and extend outward to the East and West would be a good design. Even if the tower wasn't parallel to the shoreline, it might be an improvement. It surely depends upon the site orientation, but maybe some sites could benefit from such an idea.
