  1. I've got a full season on FM Quattro's (single plate) and have found them to be exceptionally reliable. This is after multiple ankle injuries from using too much dual lock as well as lace up rubbers. A good friend was taking some video of me when I went "out the front" last week. In slow motion you can see the binding release when the torque of my body going over the tip increased (beyond the point of no return), not on the second or third spin through the "washing machine" like my previous system. Because the mechanical release is well supported by fixed points in normal skiing, you can set it low enough to validate release on dry land without risk of pre-release. Boots and liners are super comfortable as well.
  2. Jody- if successful will you offer this as a kit for those of us with 05-06 MC's?Â
  3. You sound like you already made a decision, but I have a really lousy front ankle due to some nasty no/late release crashes. After a long chat with a guy who sells all of them, I went to the FM Quattro's this year and I'm very confident in design, construction, and performance. The model I chose was the Whitelines, single plate. I added the mounting plate after the fact which made for a pricey setup, and required a little tweeking to hit the inserts correctly but it gave me the ability to move the bindings forward and back with less hassle and also put some footbeds in after they broke in.  I've probably come out 10-12 times this season. Everytime I've said the same thing... worth every penny!
  4. Some of the off-brand boats have skied great (my 89 Supra was great). Hopefully they did it right. I would consider a "price-point" boat for the ski pond- especially as a club boat instead of hauling my boat all over the place and missing beautiful ski days (like today!) due to logistical issues with a boat. If they price it right and it performs well it would be great as long as they don't change speed control again....  With respect to GAJ0004's comment on the filter- I couldn't agree more but it's an easy fix... Discount Inboard Marine sells them and they are easy to install for less than $100. Mine works great
  5. I feel your pain- similiar issues- and I have the same 2 skis, same line lengths at 36. This morning I resisted the urged to go down the rope, focused on edge changes and looking down course, and it helped significantly.   For me, I suspect it's a confidence issue after a hard OTF, then I missed a couple of missed easy passes and bam - nasty slump. For me it is overthinking, rushing, and pulling too long in on-side turns, not equipment...  You'll get it back- run a bunch of back to backs on a length you're comfortable with (-28), each should get easier/ ie- less effort.Â
  6. Has anyone taken a nice tumble in these yet? I'm planning to replace my current system (dual-lock) ASAP.  Is there a significant "pre-release" riskÂÂ
  7. When I was recovering from surgery to repair a torn pec tendon, I developed the same problem.  What helps to stretch it is a foam tube, 24-36 inches long, 6-8" in diameter. First you lay flat on the floor and try to get your whole back in contact with the mat/carpet. Then lay on this tube and try to push you shoulder blades to the floor, holding for 30-120 seconds. Finally, go with the tube again and repeat step one. It will be noticably different. You can do all sorts of exercises and stretches on the tube (elbow to opposite knee, etc). I can't remember them well enough to describe, but a couple sessions with a good physical therapist would be worthwhile to ensure you're doing it right.
  8. Would it be foolish to mount E's or RS-1's to a g10 plate for 2 methods of release. It seems to me that if you had the release set high enough on the interlock, i wouldn't come into play unless the other method failed (laces too tight or another scenario). The only downside would be perhaps a little more weight, correct? I'm 4 days into a 6 week "sentence" in a walking cast with a grade 2/3 ankle sprain from a late release due to too much interlock and am strongly considering a different setup to prevent future injury.
