  1. Very Cool! But, With a little xtra time, a notebook and a pen, one can do an awful lot of tuning for $499... But, the idea is awesome! I'm sure in time a much more affordable one will surface....
  2. @MattP, Why do so many of these topics not end up on top of the "Most recent" list???? -new post's put some of these threads 6 or more from the top... edit: this above post went STRAIGHT to #9 ???
  3. He could have never charged enuf $$$ to profit off of Members. Advertising and Sponsors are where the $$$ is found. I used to talk with Wade quite a bit. He's a Great Guy! Creating optimum SEO, (Which he had and still ranks at the top) building mass appeal and site hits to bring and keep the Advertisers and Sponsors and of course making your Site family BIG by keeping Your Site family Happy to keep the site traffic up... The economy was a lot tougher a couple of years ago. He walked at the right time mentally, but financially, it was very unfortunate timing... The economy is now slowly getting better and people are again buying what other people are advertising! -and others are beginning to do A LOT of advertising... Gear, Equip, Apparel, Alcohol... -it's all about the $$$
  4. I miss PSC and the fam. Wade allowed the Domain name to expire on Wetjacket. But, somehow still owns the rights to PSC.com. Makes me wonder if he has some thoughts of bringing it back...
  5. If for example, two skiers are both at the top of the Wgt. chart but, one is shorter ave. Hgt and one is Taller ave. Hgt. It is generally recommended to go one Ski size Longer for the Taller skier. Some Manufacturer charts will incude this info. (the same is also generally reccommended for extremely Tall Skiers who are lighter) It is always easier to make a Longer Ski "Feel" (ski) shorter then it is to make a Shorter Ski feel Long and ski longer. Manufacturer Settings as well as Size charts are only suggestions to Reference, some skiers will have their own Personal preferences...
  6. ***Test*** Just noticed that this thread is not updating and moving to the top of the New posts Topic list. Hmmmmmmmmm
  7. @Brady, HA, ha! -umm, what/which assessment am I Completely wrong on this time? =-D I "trust ya" but, I'll have to ask for the actual Truth and the proof please!
  8. "I like proof before I go believing any of y'all's crack pot ideas. Still not convinced". YES! EXACTLY! That is EXACTLY what I have been thinking lately about many of the Nay sayers and their Critique. Those who put others on the spot, with only a Complete OPINION Themselves... Just saying
  9. There is certainly a point in the Computer age for the applicable phrase; "Junk in, Junk out". But, I for one am not going to waste a Second purely "Speculating" on who could benefit or by how much. That is even more questionable then questioning it's reality in the 1st place. There is so much useful "Written" info on here and other sources that gets totally mis-interpreted and/or possibly mis-spoken b/c it may not have been conveyed well enough in the 1st place and then some of us run out and try to put it to use and some of us just critique & discount it. Either way, eventually we all find what works for us and what does not. How about topics like "WestCoast style" or "Light on the Line" for a couple examples??? -I could go on...
  10. P.S. this is also used Very successfully in Rehabilitation of injured Athletes. Especially when the subject is immobilized with a Cast or imobilization device. i.e. Like a Snow Skier with a Leg Cast for wks....
  11. @Skijay, "What they found was that while visualizing, the same neurological pathways and muscles were were being stimulated and that the muscles, while moving almost imperceptibly to the naked eye, were moving at the same rates and proportionately to how they moved while she was actually playing".... YES, YES, YES!!! This IS the basis for the Visualization that I was referring to in your other thread on "Revelation." Absolutely works far beyond the Conscience and even the Sub-Conscience levels, but also inconjuction with.... Sending the same Neural signaling to the muscle receptors. The clearer the mental picture the more powerful the signaling. Very Cool stuff!
  12. Good stuff @Skijay and I apreciate your attentive detail. As you know, I fully accept the process of Visualization. Your info. will hopefully help some skiers find a path to better and stronger visualization. As, many people simply have very low visual input capabilities and either get easily distracted or simply fail in their attempt to see what is not there. i.e. cannot see colors that aren't there, cannot see rooms re-decorated or have generally low Artistic abilities... Therfore, to some degree I feel these traits either halt or hinder ones ability to fully involve the Brain, Senses and Motor receptors. Contributing to being distracted and/or a low sensory involvement at best. I fully believe these traits are in large part, the basis that separates the Good players from the Stand out players, the Journeyman from the Superstar. -even the Scotty Pippens from the Jordans. All Superstars are Visionary Monsters! I think you are on to something that could very well intensify the Brain activity level while visualizing for many. Whatever it takes to increase the feedback in an Pro-active mental state would be awesome. "Seeing IS Believing"!
  13. @Marco, "I would hope that anyone who skis into 41 has the right to discuss advanced topics"... Well, there are some on there that can't ski -35. So, ????? all bets are off... When is Bruce going to give us the answer?
  14. I still don't think his Vision is merely a "subtle" thing. So it's surely not the answer Bruce is seeking. But, it IS what stands out the Most to me. As, he does demonstrate the deliberate use of Visual Ques Very Well! These ques are a Huge part of his stability and positioning. Pylon, Shore, Ball line and repeat... The body always follows the Head. (but, the Head does not have to follow the eyes.) Matthew makes a deliberate move to insure his Body follows his visual ques.
  15. @Bruce_Butterfield, His Head and Vision are exceptional but, this is a Huge part of his Awesome technique. So, for "Subtle" I am going with his Hip alignment throughout the Course. His Hips/Pelvic are virtually always facing down Course.
  16. @disland, All of these vid's are dryland pull variations by short line skiers and you'll probably hear the names Schnitz and Lucky Lowe! There are several Pro's who advocate the use of Dryland drills. Not soley of course, but inconjuction with proper on-water drills and practice... It is also a good stretching and conditioning tool. The last vid. is a series of warm up drills for Slalom by Brian Detrick, demonstrating a short pull variation at about 2min's... There is much that can be gained through Dry land drills in Slalom and in several other Sports as well.
  17. Nice sking @markchilcutt, I believe in the importance of Head position. We have said for years: "Look Down, Go Down"... In fact, here is a small excerpt of mine posted in 2009... h2odawg79, 2/22/2009: Another thing that Jumps out at me is, Seth's "Head"... Just like in last months topic, -his head is countering the body Angle by staying "LEVEL". The Body Always follows the Head. (try doing a flip w/o tucking your head, it can't be done...) The head literally Dictates your forward momentum or Center of Mass. That is why it is So important to keep your Eyes Up and down course......
  18. @Thager, I apologize, I could donate a wealth of knowledge and experience to this thread. But, I'm taking a break. Kinda like some of the Pro skiers I know and forums, who have said; "why give info. away for free AND open the door for senseless debate"? Good Luck
  19. Quote: "In every other sport, spending time on fundamentals is part of every practice session for a lot of good reasons. For the same reasons, these drills help commit good fundamental skiing skills to habit, but it takes a lot of repetition". Very well put! -Sounds like the Basis behind what I had originally posted on the 1st page and the reasoning behind the Dry land drills... Orig. post: "I like Hard Core Dry land Lean/Pull Drills in various positions to remind me to stay down and powerful. (it's important not to tie the Rope too High off the ground. 27" works well for me) On the water, two things would be to do some Open water Lean Drills on each side of the boat. Do a "Pull Out" and then just keep leaning. Get as far up on the boat as humanly possible 5 times and then do the other side. #2. Now take the Dry land and the Water drills and put them both to use in Open Water, doing some Hard core whip drills. Do as many wake crossings as you can with a solid, stacked pull position. With NO concerns of any Buoys, you should be able to stay down in your fully leveraged position"... @disland, Funny how the TRUTH never changes! -only opinions...
  20. @Horton, and I thought the "Trailing arm" then "Leading arm" then "equal pres" was the most dubious... I Love to call it a "Tug of War" NOT b/c you, me or anyone does a turn and Burn like the old days, BUT, b/c if your not in a Proper LEVERAGED (stacked) Position, the 300+ hps will Pull you UP & OUT. -just Like a Tug of War... Thus, you are Not USING (Utilizing) the 300hp, (efficiency) instead they are ABUSING You Sorry for not using a more Fashionable adjective.
  21. @MarcusBrown, -that's Wisdom, on many levels...
  22. WOW! Winter time is taking it's toll... So, I'm game, lets play! 1st of all, I Love thinking OUTSIDE of the box. Not just going along with the spineless crowd... 2nd This type of "Training" is NOT A SKIING SIMULATOR, it is basically covering ONE ASPECT and 1 aspect ONLY. -Getting comfortable and fluid with the unnatural dynamic of Hooking up and falling back into a FULLY Leveraged position. Building Trust that allows the body to fall back, arms that fully extend, a Core that Fully engages, a Handle that goes directly to the Hip, Hips up, Chest out and it all happens AUTOMATICALLY w/o fail, with a little practice... Lastly, if I were a typical "Name dropper" (to somehow try to make myself look better) I would name names of Pro's whom I KNOW Promote these same Dry land Pull Drills for these very same reasons! But, to each his own. Forums are such fun! They always bring out the critical minded Cynics. What is it that rises up so Quickly in Man and bolsters judgement, condemnation and contention!?!? While diplomacy and encouragement too often elludes him...
  23. Good stuff! I think you just need to limit the Travel of the wgt. and/or the travel of the platform to keep from going on over. There are also some seriously strong workout bungees available. I believe they might eliminate the need for a counter wgt. Mine works pretty well and I only have one incorporated. I have a full basement and I utilize the post on my spiral staircase. But, to build a bonafide pull apparatus, I would either have to set/break it down everytime, trip over it continuously or convert a rm. into a pulling station! That is why I have been so lazy at moving fwd with some trial runs... Another thought is, I do several different Dry land drills with my set up and as is, I have the freedom to move around a bit. Man, if I could have one of those at the Gym!!! -Rainy or windy days, No driver days, rest days!!! (of course, I kinda do that now)
