  1. I would think the 6.0 is lighter than the 5.7 because the 6.0 has aluminum heads vs cast iron for the 5.7. The 5.3 and 6.2 have aluminum blocks and heads, should be significantly lighter, but have never seen published weights. As @skierjp mentioned, 5.3 and 6.2 should be the same weight.
  2. Torque in the ski range is very close between the 5.3 and 6. The 6 has more horsepower at top end, resulting in a couple more mph top end. Barefooters may notice. The DI engines have an amazing flat torque curve, I thinkthe the variable valve timing contributes heavily.
  3. The 3 blade is the jump prop, I really don't like it for slalom. My boat will always have the 4 blade(668) on for slalom in tournaments. If there are really strong jumpers at a tournament I ask them for a consensus on their preference. If they want it, I put the 3 blade on for jump. As has been mentioned, the 3 blade on the new Ski Nautique with the 6.2 has crazy power .
  4. @blakeyates If that is truly oil that has been in the engine less than 25 hours the lead level is pretty scary, probable bearing failure coming soon. I suspect it is much more than a 25 hour change interval. Also, at 25 hours the fuel dilution may indicate a motor "making oil" probably from a fuel injector leaking down after shutdown. Just curious, since it is a 2010, and a 5.7, did the boat still have that crazy 12.5 x 14.25 prop on it? If so, that engine probably saw a lot of really high RPM use.
  5. @blakeyates As others have mentioned, I am confused by your statement. If you took it for a test drive and checked it out before you towed it home, the engine was fine at that time, and it is really tough luck that the very next time it was started there was a failure. That is assuming that nothing in the tear down indicated that something was Mcgivered by the seller. If purchased with no warranty, the seller has no obligation, although if it was something I had sold, I would have a hard time saying no with those circumsances. If it was actually purchased without a test drive and the seller said all was good, then the seller has an obligation. By the way, never, ever, ever buy a used boat without a test drive.
  6. Using Sensient dye crystals from Indylake.com I have been using two 5-gallon buckets of blue and two one gallon jugs of black. This is the 4th year and I just added this week. We had a pretty significant weed problem previously, but since using the dye the problem is 100% resolved. We also have grass carp. I think they were overwhelmed before the dye, but my opinion is that the dye reduced the weeds to the point that the grass carp could finish the job. I can't tell you how many acres the lake is, but it is 2,000' long and varies in depth from around 4-1/2' at one end to around 25' at the dam. A drone shot is available HERE which will give you a good idea of the shape. Hope this helps.
  7. @disland It is working great and was very easy to set up. James pushes new updates frequently. The system is a great tool that gives the driver instant audible feedback while in the course and a great summary that can be reviewed at the end of each pass. (Much better than a boat judge telling you to move two inches left at the same time someone watching end course video is telling you to move two inches right:)
