  1. Donski, just making sure that you are going the right way but I can see how this can be confusing.  The term "taking tip out" actually means pushing the tip of the fin back into the ski.  This will result in a shorter length measurement.
  2. I like the concept.  What Joe has done is eliminate waste to make the tournament more efficient.  For most people their first 2-3 passes are warmup passes to get acclimated to the conditions.  So I don't see a problem skipping some of those for the next round score to save time.  I'm sure the data will show some people skied worst, the same, or better but the same thing happens when you wait for the next round.  And if it shows more people are skiing better in a T&B round who cares if their average goes up a little, you still only get one shot in Regionals and Nationals.

  3. I think lowering is refering to the distance between the wing and the bottom of the ski.  Back in '97 I believe skis came with the wing closer to the bottom of the ski and people started flipping them upside down to get them lower.

I think west wing has something to do with the white house.

  4. Couple of questions for Joe:

    1. When the skier begins the next round do they have the option of which end of the lake to begin?

    2. Can the LOC plan the tournament and make it mandatory to use the T&B?  So for a 2 round tournament every skier only gets wet once.

  5. We can all make educated guesses with limited info about your skiing but Horton is right about the best way to know for sure is to try both.  If you are near the East Bay or Sac give Rich @ NorCal MasterCraft a call, 925-460-9216.  They are a Radar dealer and should have 2011 demo skis soon.
  6. I've seen to many of those Straightlines break to trust one behind the boat.  I used the same Masterline for about 5 years and had it restrung every other year.  Just bought another size and now it's my backup.  Masterline has quality stuff.

  7. I rode the 68" before dsmart and only messed with the bindings.  1st tried the front binding a little past 30" but the ski came alive as it moved back.  Very easy to ride and I liked the consistency.  Can't wait to try it again with some fin adjustments.  I weigh 205, dsmart is a little more.  I'll let him respond with a more exact number in case it's a sensitive subject.
