@Dirt i'm sure an insurance alternate exists for lake owners to host an event. How did INT do it back in the day? I don't think many lakes use USAWS insurance for practice anymore.

@rockdog it's that simple. Have someone wiggle the rudder and you can probably see if that's the issue. I still grease periodically but tightening the top bolt took out the clunk I was getting.
I had that problem on my 196. There was play where the rudder arm is bolted to the rudder. Had to remove the safety wire, tighten the bolt an re-install the safety wire. Easily accessible in the 196.
Yes the cam sensor is the same as the auto equivalent on the flat GM distributor. The crank sensor is in the front under the timing belt cover. I've never messed with that one.
I've had good results with the ACCELL brand which doesn't have aluminum contacts and can be bought locally.
