interesting. For me, the difference was huge. Pretty much exactly what you hear in that video I posted in the first page of this thread.
For a quick and easy test, loosen the smaller band clamps and remove the ABS elbows, leaving the Nibcos in place. Stand on your dock while someone does a holeshot away from you. Then repeat with them in place. That or do two ski rides back to back.
I plan to do just that. I'll see if I can come up with a decibel meter as well.

I copied @UWSkier parts list. It was a bear to get the port side Fernco reducing coupling on due to the wedge bracket. The jury is still out for me. I haven’t listened on shore, just behind the boat. I’m not sure I notice a huge difference yet. I think trick skiing might even be louder????
My next door neighbor has the same boat (2006 RLXi) so when he finally gets his out we can do a comparison from the shore.

So cool!!!! Is there a concern for that adjacent creek to ever flood the lake? Does that run north/south?

@S1Pitts I don't live in Canada...Chaloux lives in Canada.

@chaloux that makes sense. I was on the hunt for years for a 2003-2006 Response LXi with the LS1 engine. I almost "settled" for a Sunsetter LXi with the LS1, but the seller backed out when the boat he thought he was buying wasn't in the condition as advertised. The border would definitely cause an issue, too. I found the right boat (minus the LS1) in the wrong spot, but for $500 it was trailered to my house. It certainly was a gamble, but I trusted the seller and all worked out well. I think the buyer's market vs seller's market is almost a wash if you are selling and buying a boat. Good luck on your continued search...I'm sure the right boat will pop up one of these days.
-
@chaloux I’m just curious what price range of boat you are after? It seems like there are endless choices on the market for a boat that is affordable for a 2 income family that makes time on the water a priority.

I wonder if it can be special ordered from MC for a Prostar. I know it's not listed as an option, but money talks. Just like the 8.1L or the LS3 wasn't an option in a Malibu Response back in the day, but there are some out there that were factory ordered.

In todays age, with boats that have 400+ HP and ZO, if you are over 200lbs and still riding a ski that has a profile shape and bevels similar to what existed in the late 90s and early 2000s....then your life on the water is harder then it needs to be. Get a Denali and don't look back.
So, how much over 200lbs...and do you consider taller skiers to be benefited as well?

Not only did Malibu extend the partnership to 2030, they continually aired an advertisement during the Australian Nationals hinting at a redesigned TXi for 2025. At the end of the ad with very dark pics of a direct drive boat touting stronger, smarter, cleaner, better, they said….You spoke. We listened. TXi ‘25.

Is there a setting that shows which version of the Garmin puck is being utilized?

Last night the announcer took a “restroom break” and that was the only quality sound of the broadcast. Clear as could be at that moment. 😂 it was so cool to sit in the living room and watch my friend ski live in Australia though! Technology is awesome.

Why oh why do I live in NW IL. Started my season yesterday with 43° water. Much too windy today, unfortunately. I just hope I don’t have to winterize the boat again in the next few weeks.

At some point it boils down to desire. Here's a real life example of two skiers in recent years introduced to skiing by our core group of skiers. They are both financially capable of going "all in" so that part is out of the equation.
Skier A obviously enjoys his time on the water with us and has improved drastically. Has only come out a few times each year, although the offer is pretty much standing anytime he wants to join.
Skier B has now completely changed his lifestyle and purchased a new slalom ski, gloves, life jacket, trick ski, Malibu TXi, and a house on the river approaching 500K. Breaks ground on a new boathouse for the TXi very soon.
Skiing is not for everyone, and if someone really wants it they'll find a way to make it happen.

32mph just doesn't deliver a great example of good slalom skiing because of the slushy response from the ski.
I'm not sure about that...There's a video of Joel Poland just posted on Instagram running 41off at 30mph on a Radar Butterknife. It's a great example of slalom skiing! 🙂

Nice sunrise last week.

From another thread, it was explained that the bend looks off due to photoshop.

I agree with what @buechsr just typed. Ask for a pic from the back straight on at platform level or below, and we can confirm if it's the diamond hull or not. Here’s what you’re looking for.

That's not an LXi. Dealer who listed it doesn't know what they're doing. That's a Sunsetter. Different animal than the SS LXi.
Good eye...and it's been for sale at that price for a lengthy time.

@Luzz it’s funny you say that. For years our trick releases were made of old slalom lines. I bought brand new bulk slalom rope and we made all new releases for our rotation of boats. No more hand me downs!

Do these handles have the "anti-roll" characteristics? I've been using the ergo radius handle for years, and when I ski with a regular handle I immediately notice the handle rolling. I haven't tried a regular ML handle that claims to be anti-roll.

yes she did and does ski behind it.
Cool! I live next door to her parents and have skied with her for years!

I originally thought way too high. I personally still think way too high. However, to the right buyer it’s probably worth it. If it’s what a buyer is specifically looking for than it very well could be worth that. Lots and lots of extras there in the price as well.
I tend to buy very nice, well kept, older items as I can’t justify new prices. I have a 1999 GMC K2500 that I was offered 12.5K for. I’d love to jump on that as I only paid 13K for it 17 years ago, but I truly believe I can’t find a better truck out there (for my wants/needs) for that same money. So no deal.
I think I could find a better boat (for my wants/needs) for 28K, but that might not hold true for someone else.

@Downunder that scenery looks familiar? By chance does Katie Pickford ski with you on occasion? She mentioned a new Nautique and it was that color too!
Beautiful boat!

I'm curious if you have any sort of silt pond prior to the creek entering the lake?
