  1. I've blown both ACLs. Had the first one fixed (patellar tendon) and did not fix the second. I skied with a brace on my front leg (no ACL leg) for years (custom Townsend design brace) worked okay but had to protect my back knee from running into the brace. I stopped wearing the brace for skiing over 10 years ago and now I don't even think about it while skiing. I kept wearing the brace when I played basketball but at this point the leg is strong and stable and I don't need it. For what it is worth I have more pain in my repaired knee than the one with no ACL. Everyone's anatomy is a little different but for me if my quads are strong my knee is stable.

  3. I have no ACL in my left knee (LFF) (old wakeboarding injury). Skied with a custom (townsend design) brace for several years. It is hard on the brace (rust and impact from my back knee). I always wore a full wetsuit or put a neoprene sleeve over the brace to protect my other knee. Eventually I stopped wearing it. I try and keep my leg strong and ski a little "smarter".
  4. Quick pay off ... we needed a third to ski this morning on Lake Samammish, my 12 year old and now slalom skier quickly volunteers to get up real early and ski! Love it!
  5. Over the years I've had some great "guys ski-camping" trips to Lake Koreis, but this year was different .... in a great way! Now "Stella Blue Lake" and under the ownership of Rick Kearns you are invited to experience the nice end of the lake. So we organized a family trip with my main ski partner (wives included). It is pure luxury staying in the house, it will be hard to camp there again! Everyone had a great time, my youngest joined the rank of slalom skier, and they all want to make it an annual trip. Thanks Rick from a happy ski dad. http://www.stellabluelake.com/
  6. Come on! It's got to be "Ball of Spray IPA"
  7. It looks like the projectiles are "lobbed" more that "shot". They only need to travel ~37 feet with an arch. I bet this is way less power than a paintball gun.
  8. I'd like to see an option to mount this on a tower. That would be way better from a visibility standpoint. The way they show it right now you can't even have a mirror.
  9. Sure is. Right between Mercer Island and Bellevue. You'll find me out there most mornings between 5:30 and 6:30 am.
  10. My 12 year old son got up at 5am this morning and went to the lake with me. Moments later he's up on one! Big smile on his face and bigger one on mine!
  11. I keep a spreadsheet on my Google drive. That way you can get to it from any computer or phone. I have data back to 2007.
  12. @Glydon Yep. They come with both front and rear plates. If I remeber correctly you can even leave the exo release hardware on the ski, to test it out.
  13. First set today! Had the lake all to ourselves, 56 air 58 water.
  14. @JBB this might make you feel better. I made the switch at the end of this season as well. I had been skiing in "liner release" bindings (Prodigy and vMax) and moved to the HO hardshell (still using vMax Choptop in the back). My first time out in the HO hardshell I missed two starts in a row (I had not missed a start since 2013), and once I did get up I could barely ski, to the point I almost felt hopeless. I got home and checked my measurements, decided to move the bindings back a little and then tried again a couple days later. The second time was much better and now after 7 outings it feels great and my confidence is back.
  15. I have a 94 Prostar 205 and it skis great. 15 off is great, bump at 22 then it gets good up the line except spray at 35 off and shorter. Hull change in 96 for the 205 hurt the ski wake but made the boat better for wakeboarding and handling rough water.
  16. The boots came with custom insoles that were pretty thick (~1/2") and had features to aid drainage. I don't think they were ever available separately. Since they do not rely on the liner for release you can use whatever insoles you want as long as your foot does not come out of the boot in a fall.
  17. @skispray here are a few more pictures. I remember now that I had issues with the guard moving down toward the handle so I used another piece of cord to fix it at the v.
  18. I tried zip ties and they did not last. I found that parachute cord works great. I use a little piece of bungee cord for the middle.
  19. @Mike Gile didn't you get a tournament PB on a prototype last month?
  20. I spent Saturday at Hilltop and it really was as fun as the video made it out to be. From my kids point of view it will be hard to beat. Beautiful weather, fun for all ages, great people and amazing skiing! @MarcusBrown what a great way to share it with the world!
