  1. I love the ski and the bindings. The numbers I posted are values in inches for the position of the front boot (tail of the ski to the back of the front binding) and the fin settings for a 67" S1 ski. Here is a link on how to measure a fin http://www.usawaterski.org/pages/Instructional%20Articles/Slalom/DefinitiveFinMeasuring.pdf
  2. The chart I posted was from the EXO Forms that I got in 2010. The new chart looks more in line with what I found with use. I broke quite a few tips along the way. The new metal tips and stronger bar are definitely an improvement.
  3. I have the same set up and have been running things at stock (67"). Bindings 29.875, DFT 0.73, Length 6.86, Depth 2.508, wing at 9 degrees. I do better when I don't make the rear binding too tight. Here is a picture of the binding release setting chart. I'm 5' 10" 175 and run mine between B and C.
  4. I have not skied a lot of skis but I really like my S1. It is much easier to ski than the Duvall and Connelly that I was on before.
  5. I've watched a bunch of GoPro clips where the camera is attached to the ski looking back at the skier, and I really like the perspective. I've also noticed that in alot of those clips the ski bounces hard enough to move the camera (most of the time causing it to point at the top of the ski). So when I got a GoPro from my wife for my birthday I knew what I wanted to try first. I mounted it up with homemade float attached to the back. I made sure the set screw was as tight as my fingers could get it and hit the water. By the second wake crossing the camera was facing the ski and not long after that it flew off the ski (good thing I made the float). Here is my solution. In addition to using a screw driver to snug up the set screw (not so tight as to break the plastic), I made a new wedge shaped float with some extra velcro on the bottom side and a mating piece on the ski. Tried it yesterday and it worked great.
  6. I had the same problem. So I made a combo float/angle block with an extra piece of velcro on the ski. Tried it yesterday and it worked great. I'll post a picture of it when I get home tonight.
  7. I've had good service with a phone call. P: (800) 938-4040 info@hosports.com
  8. We'll be kind and just say my goal was to "demonstrate the EXO release" for Richard a couple weeks back. I did end up breaking a plastic tip and bending the bar a little on the last of 4 "demos". HO quickly replaced everything except the boots with the new metal tip and tail as well as the beefed up bar. Troubles aside I much prefer the EXOs over the Wileys I was using before and I have not had an injury since changing.
  9. I saw that run from the dock. Great skiing! Broho is a great site with even better people! Richard thanks again for the invitation, and thank goodness my run is not formally documented. As the winner a couple years ago of the EXO bindings from BOS I did feel obligated to demonstrate the release in an OTF fall ..... 4 times. Mental practice all winter did not overcome lack of conditioning, time on the water and nerves. Thankfully everyone there is very kind.
  10. dski, Thanks for the info. If it is not much trouble I'd love to see some video, but only if it is easy for you.
  11. I'm keeping my eyes out for a big lake and family friendly boat that still skis great. Has anyone skied behind a Calabria XTS or Centurion Eclipse?
  12. I skied on a Duvall 950s for a long time. When I had it set up right it skied great but did seem to take a lot of effort compared to the S1 that I'm on now.

  14. I have both. I think I ski better in the Pros but the Forms are more comfortable. The only real difference I can tell is the firmness of the liner.
  15. I do. I had no failures last season, no pre-releases and no injuries. The key for me was getting the tension setting right.
  16. I don't need bad knees to know that 41 is off limits.
  17. I blew my knee wakeboarding of all things, and had mircrofracture surgery 8 years ago (a large area on the femur). I took things really easy for a year. I skied with a brace (townsend design) for 5 years after that and now I don’t really think about it anymore when I’m skiing. My advice is to take it slow, do lots of “unloaded” motion to help the scar tissue that forms to be smooth and strong, and then pick the things you really want to do and skip the activities that you don’t really care about. Good luck.
  18. I don't get to ski in a course very often but I still keep track of my skiing. Here are my columns: Date, Time, Ski, Boat, Location, Conditions, People, #ofRuns, Wet Suit type, Notes (things like rope length, binding releases, course statistics, how much money I gave for gas, ...). This year I got out on the water 38 times and skied 62 sets. I played around with shorter ropes (28 to 35) on open water at the end of the season and really had fun.
  19. Does anyone have opinions and/or experience with this boat?
  20. http://www.jobesports.com.au/jobeslalomskisrogue/ Here it is.
  21. Overall I like them a lot. I've busted two tips (but I haven't broken any since I reduced the spring setting). They are super comfortable and perform great for me (on and S1). I actually bought a second pair as a backup (my wife was out of town and it was too good of a deal to pass up). I got the EXO Forms on the recomendation from HO and the second pair I picked up were the PROs. The Forms are softer and more comfortable but the PROs feel great too and I think I ski better in them.
  22. I skied open water for 25+ years (I'm 37) never even sniffed a course. Last year I entered the drawing to win the EXO bindings (thanks BOS) and some how won them. I felt like such a poser on the lake that I decided I should be able to run the course to justify my fancy equipment. I spent an afternoon last September at the public course at the north end of lake Washington with a bunch of good friends trying to figure it out. I remeber making it around the 4 ball and thinking "if I can just make it to 5 I've got this" and I did (30mph @ 15off). Everyone skied a little harder afterward but no one else made a pass after that (including me).
