  1. @JeffSurdej Is there a possibility of getting the revised schedule added to the nationals information page on the website??? Just trying to organize my crew...
  2. @klindy In my world, yes the kids are minors but they hold all of the control as to whether they want to continue to ski or not, regardless of what my decisions/opinions are.
  3. @klindy if you guys truly want the input of the junior skiers, you may consider an alternative to sending an email. How many of them actually check email? How many of them have their email address attached to their membership instead of their parents?
  4. @klindy If you ask most kids, they’d rather have it like it was. I thought the change was to try to keep more kids engaged in the sport so they would not quit skiing. If that was the purpose of the change, why didn't we do what the kids want???
  5. When I read this question I was not thinking of "my score was wrong". I was thinking if the board (USAWS) made a decision that was detrimental to our (AWSA) ability to continue to participate in this sport. Filing a lawsuit regarding a wrong call or score at a tournament is ridiculous.
  6. I am trying to register with SafeSport but it is requiring an access code associated with USAWS&WS. Does anyone have that access code?
  7. @jordanh We had our daughter in the boat at 7 days old, I will pulling my husband. We used a cooler to wedge her car seat (infant carrier) next to the pylon on the floor. The first time did not work so well, her car seat slid to the back of the boat when I accelerated and I had to shut down. Once we had her secured better, we skied the rest of the season without any problems. We even found a little clip on fan to keep her cool. I HIGHLY recommend keeping them in a life jacket at all times once they can move on their own, but we did not use flotation when they were strapped in the car seat as an infant. Once she could crawl or walk on her own, I used a speedo, non-USCG swim vest from Target, just enough to keep them on the surface until I could grab them, if they fell in out of my reach . Fast forward and she is now getting ready to leave for college, but still skiing as a family. What a great way to raise a family!!!!
  8. @sheskis7 the problem with moving Nationals later is the kids will have already gone back to school making travel much more difficult. They also will have started fall Sports at the middle school and high school level.

    Re-power

@Steven_G We re-powered our 1998 Nautique a few years ago and could not be happier! $10K is a lot cheaper than buying a new boat! Added bonus is boat taxes and insurance did not increase with the conversion.
  10. I would think that tournament participation would weed out unsatisfactory boats. I would not pay entry to a tournament that was being pulled by a boat I don't even want to ski behind for practice. FWIW - I love to ski behind my 1998 SN re-power with single puck ZO.
  11. I like the idea of practice scores counting......please put me down for 1.5@-35, pay no attention to the fact that it is Feb. in Kansas with a forecast low of 7 degrees tonight. I don't want to go crazy and accidentally bump myself into Level 10.
  12. @MattP She has witnessed collegiate skiing since she was born at her lake and is well aware of what it looks like. All of the rules changes have undermined the integrity of the sport no matter what the intentions behind the changes are. My kids have participated in many sports and I have never seen other sports change rules based on kids' feelings.
  13. My 17yo G3, scratch that, G4, scrach that, G5 skier said she wants to quit skiing because it is becoming a joke with all of the rule changes. She is choosing to swim in college instead of skiing where qualifications and results are evident and consistent.
  14. @JeffSurdej OK, sitting down with family and we are all confused......what is the max speed for the new B4 division? Is it 36mph like before???
  15. Looks like the Nationals schedule that was released earlier this week does not include B5/G5. When can we expect the revised schedule so we know when our kids ski?
  16. Very sad news. Prayers for Dawn and family. He was a great innovator and supporter of water skiing.
  17. @T-fromTO You already have the rule change to 32mph for max speed for 45+ women in IWWF, again, we are talking about changing AWSA rules.
  18. @T-fromTO I am talking about AWSA membership and rule changes, not IWWF. I don't have a dog in the fight about IWWF. Looks like you are from Canada.......ZBS in AWSA skiing does allow everyone in AWSA to ski at the speed they deem appropriate, except if the skier wants to stay at higher speed at AWSA Regionals and Nationals (or other class L tournaments).
  19. @thager @MISkier @Jody_Seal hahaha, I agree! 2 years ago we changed W4 to align with IWWF and increased our age division from 52 to 55 yrs. old. Now we're looking changing max speed in same division to follow IWWF again. Now kids divisions have changed. Seems like the tail wagging the dog. Why don't we stop with all the rules changes and let ZBS make those who want to ski differently than traditional speed/line length happy? Most of the rules changes appear to be to appease the less dedicated skier at risk of alienating loyal AWSA members.
  20. @Not_The_Pug excellent! I'm glad to hear your wife a skiing. Sounds like ZBS scoring is working for her. Again, no new rule change for AWSA needed! The proposed rule change will affect those who ski ELR tournaments where overspeeding is not allowed.
  21. @Killer So you are willing to risk alienating the loyal W4 skiers with yet another rule change affecting the division for the pipe dream of "maybe it will convince some women to stay in the sport"? If those women are not dedicated enough to stay in the sport using traditional or ZBS scoring, then it is not likely another rule change will entice them. More likely, in my case, if the max speed is lowered to 32 and over speeding is not allowed at Regionals or Nationals, I will continue to ski Class C tournament @ 34 mph but will skip the 2021 Regionals and Nationals. How does that "grow the sport"?
