  1. As a W4 skier, I oppose W4 lowering max speed to 32 mph. Let the handful of skiers who go to IWWF tournaments use ZBS scoring if they want to ski at 32 mph. The vast majority of us do not ski IWWF tournaments and don't care what the IWWF does.
  2. Would this be an appropriate time to insert a global warming joke?? Especially since we are talking about CA :p
  3. thanks! @JeffSurdej, the others that were incorrectly in M1/W1 are also back in B4/G4.
  4. @JeffSurdej thanks for the update, but it's the rankings list is more messed up now than ever. My daughter who is ski age 17 was in girls 1 ranking list last night, and is in W1 this morning. She should be G4. We are attending tournaments this weekend and scoring is not sure where to put her.
  5. We are starting to ski fall tournaments and the kids want to see what the COA for Nationals is for the new G4 and B4 divisions. Is the COA date still the Thursday following Nationals? Are the new divisions available for scoring for entry in the fall tournaments?
  6. I don't care which rope I ski with - have had 2 tournaments with the new rope and did not notice it. What I do hate is I cannot tell what line length others are skiing at from the shore. Makes watching slalom boring!!! We usually ski with an In-tow rope from Brenda, just ordered a new one.
  7. I skied behind a 2020 Mastercraft last weekend at a tournament with the 6.2L. Everything inside the boat was the same as the 2019. Pull behind the boat was great!!!! I am a normally a Nautique girl but must admit I like the Mastercraft much better than the Ski Nautique.

    Re-power

@Jody_Seal We re-powered our 98 Nautique 4 yrs ago and did a single puck conversion upgrade over the weekend. We could not be happier!!! The wake for slalom is great. We considered upgrading, but as hulls continue to change, if you upgrade to the latest and greatest, you will be continually chasing your tail (if you bought an older '15 200 you would still would not have the same hull you will get in a tournament). Will we be able to get the $$ we spent on the conversion if we sold it?? NO, but the $$ we have and will save in taxes and insurance on a converted boat will save us that money in the long run.
  9. @Hockdog nope, not perfect pass. Zero off convertion from dual to single puck with Rev S. Most of the time they answered the phone call with a live person, the times I had to leave a message they called back same day. I've heard others complain about their experiences. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and helpful they were to work with. Installation complete, time to ski!
  10. We completed the upgrade for the single puck conversion on our boat today. We had a few questions with several of the steps and had great customer service from Timmy, tech support and Jamie, sales. Our phone calls were promptly retuned, Timmy even called us back on Sunday afternoon! THANKS !!
  11. Yeah, what a bummer! Yesterday I had the Mastercraft, today I have the Malibu. That sucks!
  12. We had a rule that our kids wore life jackets anytime they were at the lake, whether they were on shore or in the boat. If they didn't comply, they had to go back in the car. We did not use coast guard approved jackets when they were little, just thin speedo ones without neck support from Target to make sure they would float if they got out of our sight for a second. They were more comfortable that way and did not complain as much. Once they started swimming and skiing, we switched to CGA jackets. The were NEVER allowed on the dock or boat without a jackets - set the precedent early so it becomes natural to have one on.
  13. TSC1 bubble butt nautique
  14. @Jody_Seal Can I change my vote to definitely yes if AWSA changes to ABD? I'm getting tired of all of the changes that are being made in hopes of inticing membership to grow. As stated earlier in this thread, membership has not grown despite all of the changes that have already been implemented. LOCs can host a variety of different kind of tournaments (handicapped, head to head, GR, etc.)if they're wanting to spice things up. No need to change the core of our sport that works well for many of us.
  15. What I saw with ABD in the INT was very few people progressed out of one division in into the next. It could have been sandbagging or it could have been a sense of contentment in a given division. I know I increase my buoy count by skiing with skiers who are better than I am.
  16. @JeffSurdej age groups makes more sense that having a 16 y.o girl have to stand on the dock with 35-60 y.o men. Personally as a 49 y.o woman, I enjoy skiing with women in my generation at tournaments, especially since I don't get to ski with other girls my age any other time (me and the kids and guys on most days at the lake). Ability based skiing was tried by INT - it was not fun!
  17. So what is the interim measure that has been handed out? According to the article, either a resolution or interim measure must have been handed out for his name to be listed.
  18. @lpskier good point about the records for B3/G3. I love watching G3 division at Regionals and Nationals, some of the best and most competitive skiing! Changing the rules "hoping" that it will keep more kids in the sport seems like a poor justification. Many of the kids that are 16-17 y.o. have been working for years with specific goals in mind as they reach the pinnacle of their divisions. This is not about having a good birthday or bad birthday -I have one of each - this is about making high school kids ski against young adults, some of whom have graduated from college for the hypothetical pipe dream that changing the divisions will keeps kids skiing. Isn't that why ZBS was instituted?
  19. One of the proposed rule changes that I am opposed to is the change in the top age for junior skiers. The proposed change: Boys: U10, 9 years and younger, no changes in speeds from current B1 U12, 11 years and younger, 45kph/28mph Ramp Height 5 Feet, Slalom 52kph/32.3mph U14, 13 years and younger, 48kph/29.8mph Ramp Height 5 Feet, Slalom 55kph/34.2mph U17, 16 years and younger, no changes in speeds/ramp heights from current B3 M1 Age 17-24, no changes in speeds/ramp heights from current M1 Girls: U10, 9 years and younger, no changes in speeds from current G1 U12, 11 years and younger, 45kph/28mph Ramp Height 5 Feet, Slalom 52kph/32.3mph U14, 13 years and younger, 45kph/28mph Ramp Height 5 Feet, Slalom 52kph/32.3mph U17, 16 years and younger, no changes in speeds/ramp heights from current G3 W1 Age 17-24, no changes in speeds/ramp heights from current W1 That rule change would make kids with bad birthdays - after Nationals and before Jan 1 - move into MI/WI as juniors in high school. That is not right! 2 years left in high school and they would be considered M1/W1.
  20. My husband had a drifter vest and it ripped before he had skied 6 sets with it - no crashes. Another member of our club had the same problem. I would definitely go with Eagle.
  21. I think it all comes down to priorities. If you want to ski, you will make it a priority with allocation of your time and resources. Don't have access to a private site - get a portable course and put it in a public lake for the day (we did that for years). Have small kids - take them to the lake with you and build a family bond the is unsurpassed (my oldest was at the lake at 5 days, on the boat at 7 days old). You don't have to have a fancy boat or a house on a private lake to have fun! It was a ton of work for both scenarios, but the rewards made it all worthwhile. We now have a family lifestyle that I would not change for the world. The reward is having 2 teens that still want to spend time with good old Mom and Dad, often bringing their friends with them!
  22. @bassfooter maybe your knees and back are fine because you are not a jumper....
  23. I used to be able to see who had what reactions on comments on all threads. Now I can only see how many, not who gave what. Why did that change?
