  1. After skiing for 6 days in a row with temps in the 80's, light winds, today the cold front hits us in Kansas. Highs in the 60s so will not be skiing for a few days. No worries, back to the 80s next week. Might have to put on warm top if water temps drop too much. Not bad for October in the Midwest!
  2. @Xpropman which prop do you have?
  3. Wally bouys are the best we have used to date. They displace much easier than traditional Overton's bouys saving ankles and hold their color much better. We have had on set on for 2 seasons without any fading. When taken out of the water, the algae easily wipes off. The only limitation we have experienced is they do not hold up to ice when the lake freezes over. The ice cuts them up so we put old, traditional bouys on at the end of each season for the winter.
  4. We put our kids on the slalom ski from a junior double set (63") for the first season or 2. Both were 5 when they started to slalom with deep water starts. We then moved them on to one of my older 66" skis - keeping them on big skis helps them learn to pull behind the boat and keeps them balanced so they could learn a stacked position early. We moved them to a slightly smaller (64") ski when they started to make 26 or 28mph passes and needed to be able to turn a bit tighter. Both have progressed well and have way better forms than my husband and I, didn't learn all of our bad habits.
  5. @wskier check the ground, if you still have the fuse check it.
  6. @skosney‌ You are thinking in the right direction. The youth is the way to drive increased participation in the sport. We had a blast at Nationals hanging out with other families, toobing (that's how they spelled it in TX), pool parties, open bar at Embassy, rope swing, sitting on the dam in the cool river water. It was one of the best family vacations we have ever taken. We look at Nationals as a family vacation where we go to with other like-minded families where the kids get to ski a couple of times. Where else could you send your kid to a movie with someone that you just met a few days before, leave your car unlocked with thousands of dollars of equipment unsecured, give a ride to a hitch-hiker with a ski on his back and him end up being a Big Dawg and M5 champ (free coaching in the car), have a conversation about tricking with Eric Lee, watch a grown man's pants fall off at the bar, spend 4 hours relaxing on a tube with other adults while all the kids race ahead so they can go over the rapids as many times as they can before we catch up with them.......... @Horton Your perspective will change in a few years. We have had fun at every Regionals and Nationals that we have been to. @krista‌ The only thing that was boring during the whole trip was the junior development awards ceremony. Would be nice if kids were fed first, not at 11pm. The ceremony needs to be not as long and more fun.
  7. @MS @ski6jones sounds like we already had TX law, now we should consult lawyer J. Noble Daggett from 'Dardanelle and Yell counties.
  8. @JoeMac‌ You should have joined us at the bar after the event, the entertainment with lots of the Big Dawgs there was priceless. Cindi Jorgensen
  9. We left before the final 2 skied, by then we didn't even care who won. We went for the show, everyone around us agreed that the show was ruined by the delay. Didn't really like the kids to be seeing all the drama. We spent a lot of time with our son explaining how to be a good loser in case he had a bad day at Nationals, exactly opposite of what he witnessed @ Big Dawgs under the Lights that night.
  10. @chris_logan‌ that was a joke, LOL.
  11. For some reason, this had me thinking of Dr. Jim Michaels...........can the coordinates be changed for each contestant bouy?
  12. @Moskier3ev‌ Tracy says the river is where he will hanging out at, thanks for the heads up on the need for cans. Can't wait to get there, will be fun!! See you Sunday.
  13. Is there a place to swim? That is the best way to beat the heat and entertain the kids.
  14. I guess if you can afford the house and lake, you can afford to hire someone to mow the grass. While watching the video, I kept thinking that having that much grass to mow sure would take too much time away from skiing. Beautiful lake, looked like the wind protection was doing its job.
  15. @Chef23‌ The junior ropes have to be LOC provided so no use bringing your own, per new AWSA rule, just an FYI. @WBLskier‌ At Nationals in 2011 at the same lake, there was a swimming area close to the slalom starting dock, but it was not very deep and kind of muddy. Kids swam there some but not much. There will be plenty of kids there so encourage her to join the gang. We took bikes but didn't use them much as they had a golf cart shuttle to the parking lot. Haven't decided if we are bringing them this year.
  16. @walleye‌ I will volunteer to be the rope handler for you as you like to fall on your openers. That would be an easier job than being your beer opener. Having to pick u up mid course does get a bit tedious, but I like that you can do any bouy adjustments as needed before it is my turn to ski. I like the contestants to be 10 cm out of the water.
  17. We have been using Brenda's ropes and handles for more than 10 years and have always been happy with her product and service. Handles and ropes always measure true. The boat ties are great - no metal to scratch the gel coat on the boat. Brenda's products are top notch. We cheated on her last year when we bought a new rope and handle at Nationals due to convenience and we were very disappointed. Below are pictures of the "other" mfg. rope. The whole rope is twisted in 1/2 of a season, the loops began to fray within 2 weeks. I tried to contact the mfg. to check on the warranty, and was told it was most likely due to user error - first that I did not use on a ski boat (we have a Nautique) and then was told I probably did not know how to hook the loop on the pylon. Hahaha.
  18. @501Brandon‌ We were having the same issues with our club. We just signed up for insurance through Wayne and sportsinsurance.com. The only stipulation for the insurance was everyone has to sign a waiver and your club has to have a procedure in place for getting the waivers signed and stored. They are very easy to work with and 1/3 the price of the lake liability insurance offered by USA-WS.
  19. @thager‌ What did you do to be put in jail?
