  1. Progress. Continuing to gain strength and a little weight in the gym. Now 186lbs up from 174 post surgery and 192 prior to surgery. Feeling stronger in the gym. Today was my 6th day of skiing (all spread out by days or weeks). Ran a handful of 32s (just started running 32s last time out) and shortened and ran two 35s. All felt good and, honestly, easy. My optimism for the season is growing.
  2. I think a balance of course and open water throughout the season can be helpful both from a fitness standpoint and for technical work. I find that wind conditions in the spring often don't favor my course, so I ski open water when the course is blown out just to be on the ski, get in shape, and work on the "little things" that make me a better course skier.
  3. rash guard or heater top. I wear one for almost every set. I have "larger" arms than most, and the chafing is never ending. I wear a heater top even in warm weather/water
  4. Sounds like the Radar folks are still planning to have fun on the lake. I suggest that those of you going to nationals stop over and pay them a visit.

  7. That week is usually one of the best two weather weeks of the year in MN -- think I'll spend it here ripping with friends, under the circumstances.
  8. I have a Senate as my "guest ski" at home. I haven't taken a set on it, but literally every person I've had try it looks great on that ski. And that's people from 160lbs to 215lbs, one of whom was 6'6" tall. Seems to just be an awfully friendly design that still lets people ski their best. I should probably ride it sometime just for grins.

  10. Really hard to do colors with the online boat builder. I have found that the colors online and the size of the picture makes it really hard to know what you will get. That said, you did a great job. My 2015 Prostar has 220 hours on it, and all the technology continues to work just the way it did when I got it. One heads up. Reach inside the fuse panel and turn off the battery power if you aren't going to use the boat for a few days. Failing to do so will result in a dead battery.

  13. Hi all! Well, just finished my 6 weeks of radiation yesterday. Still have chemo today and tomorrow, but it sure is nice to be done with commuting 100 miles each way, five days a week. Can't wait to find out what our new "normal" schedule is. Pretty sure it will involve skiing every day!
  14. Today will be the last treatment of week 5. One more week to go on my daily commute to Mayo Clinic.
  15. Week 4 of 6 in the books. Hopefully put the boat on the lift this weekend.
  16. Week 4 underway. I'm not tired per se, just less gas in my tank. Typical day we drive 100 miles, lunch, treatment, drive 100 miles, and hit the gym. Up until a week ago we were walking after the gym. Now it's a 90 minute nap. I am gassed after the workout. Guess that's what happens when chemo assaults you blood quality. Still, lift and dock are in and the boat will be here this week. Hope to be skiing by April.
  17. I like mine on my ProStar, but with a 6.2L it may be different.
  18. Or we'd rather not spend a couple grand to fly someplace, ski once and come home . . .
  19. Two weeks of radiation and chemo down the hatch, four to go. So far my mind and body are holding up well. Starting to feel a little tiredness at times, but I think that may just be long days - typically happens late in the week after 4-5 days of driving 3 hours, radiation, workouts and walks. I just broke through 180lbs this morning. I was 181. First time over 180 since the start of February. Getting stronger in the gym too, although all this driving is making me stiff. Need lots of stretching and time on the foam roller every day.
  20. I've gained back about 5 of the 15lbs I lost post surgery. Now almost 180lbs. Workouts are working. Interesting thing is my strength is just as good as it was at 190lbs. I'll keep slowly gaining with workouts, but think I might hold at about 185.
  21. Tough to keep nice on and off of a lift every day. Had a black bottom on my 197. Had it buffed every spring because it had scratches from the bunks.
