  1. Worst crash I have ever seen. Is he ok? Agree, disturbing to watch. Something definitely strange at the 2nd wake...boots release seems likely. What does Nick have to say about it?
  2. You probably drove up to Tahoe, broke into Lapoints house and forcefully borrowed it. You are a big guy, but my money is on Bob taking you down next time he sees you
  3. No one cares because you, Willy and Bob Lapoint are the only ones with an A3 in their hands. How did you get one anyway?
  4. First move I look right up the rope at the pylon as I cut left. As I edge change and move out to the apex I am looking up the 2/4/6 buoy line. At max width I look right at the gates as I time the turn in
  5. Horton, let me know how Seth thanks you for posting that pic. Definitely not laughing, "OH NO, how the hell did that happen, my teammate, my buddy!" Even with the last minute choice to stand up 3, it looked like he was going to ski away no problem. Its so hard to stay in the moment in those unique situations. I bet Seth has never practiced standing up 3a39, I know I haven't. Against me Matt (also Lefty) took a similar turn to stand up 5 ball. That light hit feels sketchy to me and I usually try to S turn or full turn, again, only if you I am totally focused on that moment, otherwise sh*t can happen. Seth will get dialed in and be a threat, he is just getting warmed up
  6. Klundell, yes in the finals Shane, I talked to Nate about that. He chose to go first because he wanted to get at least 2a41 and make Larkin get to 3 ball. Agreed, those guys are focused on winning, not records. Being the higher seed is definitely an advantage, and the strategy is specific to each match up. Greg will kill me for suggesting this, but what if we could manage mics on the dock and at the ends of the lake so everyone could hear. Some of the guys choose to keep their card close to their chest and others talk openly
  7. Its my favorite event of the year. The combination of Pro/MM/Am and spectators makes it so great. Greg and Debbie get a lot of support from local volunteers to help put the event on so its always running without a hitch. The webcast guys and announcers are awesome. Anyone on the fence about coming next year, do it, you wont be disappointed. I have had the opportunity to be the boat webcast camera guy in the OM finals last few years and that's always interesting. Watching the way the skiers interact, who picks what boat, who talks sh*t, who is nervous and who is focused. One highlight: I was in Wills boat in the final pairing. He seemed like the most focused guy in the event. So calm and so dialed in. He was so pumped for the win it felt special to be within a few feet of him when he was throwing his fist. Congrats Willy! I cant wait for next year
  8. Good beer and baby sitters, bring the rest of the fam and come out
  9. I think only access to Kelly is via homeowner. Never been there, but know those that have. Heard its like a bath tub, rolly after a few passes. Still cool its a site at all though.
  10. Thanks Dawg, I had one good round when it counted. You should come to Diablo and strut your stuff??
  11. @horton, thanks but I am not worried. My wife knows bull sh*t when she hears it, especially coming from a ball of hair. Looking forward to seeing you there
  12. That pic is awesome! I have been working on how to make that "reverse C" a part of my skiing for years, felt it a few times, know where near doing it consistently. I love Mr Jones post having talked to Nate, thats good stuff and consistent with what little I know of the guy.
  13. I should ad, his 39 was one of the easiest I have ever seen. It looked like an 8' tall dude running 32 off. Nice skiing!
  14. One of the best things about this site is that I can avoid the crap on other sites. I only check this forum. I don't want to offend MS, but do we have to pollute this site by re-posting garbage?
  15. Also, on snow skis they only worry about height. I know its a whole different deal, but the idea that a skier of a certain height needs to be able to move over skis of the appropriate length seems the same to me.
  16. I think on most skis at 6'7" and 190 you would be on a 68". I think for a tall guy to be balanced over a ski, that ski needs to be longer. Weight is of course important, not sure which is more important? I think: weight relates to displacement and flex, where height is leverage.
  17. Jim, those 2 empty lakes used to have water in them. The google pics from ~2005 showed water, not sure what happened. The mystery lake rodltg2 found looks like they ski on it, but it must be short. Measures ~1,600ft
  18. I am there. Entries posted on the website http://www.diabloshores.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Pro-Am-2012-ENTRIES6.pdf
  19. Free skiing is like going to the driving range. But in either case you have to know what you are working on.
  20. @bhs, no worries. Agree other than brand you don't know what it is and in the past even that wasn't certain! Greg is on a stock A2 and I am on a stock D3 X7. Seth is on a prototype D3. Thats all I know.
  21. Getting off topic, but in response to @bhs... The level of the BD is defiantly going up. Guys were saying that sweet 16 was the hardest cut ever. Partly because guys are skiing better, partly because we now have guys like Andy and Todd in the field. I expect to see Rogers soon too. I think this is good for the series and for the sport. Going forward I expect you will have most of the usual suspects make the final and there will be a few spots left for the more regular joes to get in when they ski well, like me this time around. Almost all (if not all) have real jobs. Only some (not all) of the guys in the sweet 16 get skis for free and usually after providing a lot of design input and representing the company.
  22. I am with Shane, just happy there are enough people to put on Nationals. The sport is smaller, and there seem to be less highly qualified volunteers to put on an event, therefore the chances of things going wrong is higher. Just my opinion. I personally had a gate zeroed (I knew it was close), talked to the officials, pursued the review (they confirmed 0) but was totally happy with how my Nationals ride was handled. I am already pumped to come back and get it right next year.
  23. It is so cool to see at night, I say leave it. It is of course more difficult than during the day. My understanding is everything is actual wrt the course, driving, times, etc but the night final is not record sanctioned, so no records would stand.
