  1. @MCskiFreak, I haven't skied very much yet, as the weather has been complete crap in Iowa. Once I ski a few more times, and ski behind something else I will comment more. I have a 2008 MC TT to compare to, but I doubt I will see or feel a difference. @JWR, I like shiney and red!!! Thanks for the compliment!!
  2. I agree 100% skidawg. Everything has a risk to reward ratio. If I had three kids, a wife, a house, and etc... to pay for/be with, then it would change the way I look at it. For now I will continue to be young dumb and full of....., single and with no house payment.
  3. I would agree. I think it is more about getting a ski set up than a particular ski. Physical condition is great, but I think coaching is the number one thing to help someone improve, along with time on the water.
  4. What do you mean jumping isn't safe?? When I started jumping in college everyone told me it was as safe as anything else on the water! :-) There is no better rush than jumping, and I will continue to do it until I can't. I feel if you have some sense it is reasonably safe, but yes I have broken multiple fins on the side curtain and went OTF once. Its all worth it when you have those "Big Ones!"
  5. 26 as of 3 weeks ago. First year in Mens 2. Learned to ski behind a 1969 Correct Craft Mustang with a 289, 2 barrel carb, and straight pipes when I was 16. No skegs on the boat either. Was named the "Yellow Bird" for its disgusting dark yellow color. Great boat though!!
  6. Nice looking boat Richard!! Is that the 6.0 or 5.7? This reminds me I never posted any pictures of my boat. Here are a couple from last week. I have skied a total of two sets behind it, and pulled a collegiate tournament in WI last weekend bringing total hours to 6.5. Sweet driving and running boat though!! /vanilla2/uploads/FileUpload/6/746.jpg /vanilla2/uploads/FileUpload/7/747.jpg /vanilla2/uploads/FileUpload/8/748.jpg /vanilla2/uploads/FileUpload/9/749.jpg /vanilla2/uploads/FileUpload/10/750.jpg /vanilla2/uploads/FileUpload/11/751.jpg
  7. East Tx Skier, I was on a MPD from the get go, having a Jobe MPD for a few months, and then the Radar MPD after that. I LOVED that ski!! I tried an A1 last year and hated it. I could run some passes, but felt like a 747 across course. Went back to my MPD after two weeks. Then went to Florida in January for Midwest AWSA winter meeting, and skied at McCormicks and tried out the Strada. I was hooked after two sets. I loved the MPD, but they finally fixed the few very minor things that I didn't like with the MPD. STRADA IS SWEET!!!!
  8. Sorry it has taken me forever to respond.... I couldn't agree more with "jwr" about everything has to be in line. For me, it is easy to get my skis, and hips pointed towards shore, but it takes a lot more work to get your shoulders squared up to your hips all going towards shore, or to the bottom left corner of the jump, but think about shore to exagerate it. So back to the comment from Horton... I feel like if you try and get most of your load to your right arm and then into your right hip, that will place the handle far enough away that I feel your shoulders are going to be open to the boat as you cut to the ramp. I always try to think about rotating the bar on the handle to a horizontal position parallel to the water. I think if you can keep your shoulders going in the same direction as your skis/hips it helps to carry load through the ramp and into the air turning into lift. I'll stop here for now as I am really craving my first jump set of the year and am beginning to slober on the keyboard..... lol
  9. I skied my 11 MC WTT last night. I have the 5.7 MCX still, and felt it had a better hole shot than last years boat, as a pulled a few people as well. As far as the wake, I never notice much, and like normal didn't notice anything big at all. I only skied passes at 34/22 and 36/22. First set of the year.... Trick wake was pretty sweet with just two in the boat. I will probably add a little weight for learning flips. All in all it seemed great!! It has the new strut fyi...
  10. @Horton I'm sure you aren't paying for them anyway.... You might as well let someone else try them!
  11. Good coaching is way more than someone telling you what your doing wrong.... A good coach will be able to see what you are doing wrong and also tell you the root cause of that. Most of the time something else is causing the obvious bad action. For basic example, many people have a bad offside turn because they let off the pull too early and don't keep their direction going out. Its easy to see that the turn sucked but harder to see why. Good coaching is worth its weight in gold!!!
  12. I disagree with the left arm theory. I am on my phone so will elaborate tonight when I have a keyboard.
  13. I have worked at McCormick's in Tampa for a total of 16 or 17 months over the last 4 years. They put a cable in the back two lakes in 2008. The cable they put in is really high, for wakeboarding, but is a 3-event size cable. Even if you hate wakeboarding, go ride a cable some where. I promise you will have fun!! I pretty much never wakeboard, but riding cable and hitting the kickers and rails is a whole different fun. The crashes seemed to hurt less, as the cable is normally running around 19mph. I never did throw my slalom on, but would love to try. My favorite was riding the shoe skis!! Good times!
  14. I just got my 2011 last week but haven't had a chance to ski it yet. Weather hasn't been good, and haven't got the course in yet either. Hoping to ski in the next few days. My boat has the new strut, but I got the Indmar engine. I haven't even drove it yet. I'll let ya know my thoughts as soon as I get on the water. I bought a Strada in January while on a 5 day FL trip, so only a few sets on that as well. Should be a great first set!! I really dont think the new strut is going to make a difference on the wake, but that is ONLY my opinion, for now. I start at what most would call the worst wake, 34mph 22off, and then go to 36. One of these years I'll stop starting at bra speed! hehehe JK
  15. I picked up my 2011 MC WTT from the factory Friday morning. I have not even taken the cover off yet. It was 27 on Saturday when I wanted to look it over. I do have the new strut design, but got the Indmar 5.7 MCX motor. I went with red for color. I will hopefully post pics in the next few days. Weather looks to be a little better today. Hope to ski this weekend with it! Will report back soon!
  16. I think it is timing. Is that what you are thinking?
  17. Waters Edge in Wilmington, IL. Site of the 2010 and 2011 AWSA Nationals. There are lots and probably homes available there. 2 Lake site.
