I agree with @Horton, 196 is a good boat, I like it better than the SN200

and it seems like Nate skied on the same X7 for two seasons, or at least he didn't switch to the new graphics last year

@dbski we are about 15 minutes south of North Cape Y.C., definitely bring your ski

Our lake level in SW Michigan is low, buy about 8", perfect for the waves rolling out, just worried if we get another summer like last year, we may not be able to ski come September. Although with the rain we just had I'm guessing it's probably up.

 

@dbski, I think I've skied at your Pit before, with Rip and Damin, several years back, it's about an hour drive for me. You can come down and ski with me if you want, a little west of I-75 and north of the Ohio border.

I've been a D3 guy for the awhile, currently on an X7 at 34mph, which I love, but was thinking of trying a new stick this year. How does the Quest stack up against the N1 and the A3?

PVC pipe and cap would cost around $10 and a nut and bolt to screw into the bottom of your camera $0.25. $10.25 < $75. Also looking at the e-z-cam website I couldn't see any way to shorten the rope and still use the mount, there doesn't seem to be anywhere for the extra rope to go, so do you have to take your rope completely apart for the mount to work. At least the ski doc looks like you can shorten the rope.

I would think riding in an aluminium boat would not be very comfortable, the damping characteristics of aluminium is not very good. Try riding an aluminium road bike vs a carbon fiber bike, the ride difference is amazing

What are the ball times? is it happening right away, 1st segment? 2nd segment?

@ToddL, if its a baggy tons of places to get latex seals, I use rubber cement to bond the new seals to the suit and an iron with a rag to heat up the old seal and pull it right off the suit.

seems like they would have to be in a different position for each driver based on the drivers height and seating position. Seems like a pain to adjust

I would leave him at LL. I'm in a similar situation, my daughter is 8 and at the begging of the year was working on 15mph @ LL and now has run 28mph at LL, two times. Until she can run it more often and or get deep down 30 mph I will leave her at LL. We have in the past to keep things fun and different run up the rope at 23 MPH just doing 1 ball starts, her personal best was 3 at 28 off too, I was impressed. We don't do it very often just enough to keep things different. I think its more important for young kids to run easier passes than to miss more difficult ones, it builds confidence. My goal for my daughter every set is for her to run 80% of her passes, if that means running a pass again or only going up by 1 mph than that's what I do.

also when she out grows the Wiley you can send it back and they will re-wrap it for the fraction of the price of a new one

I know Masterline makes one and I think US Gear makes one. Has anyone used them and are they reliable? strength? always return to the same point so your rope is always the same length? What is the main advantage over traditional ropes?

I agree with AB, take something and rub them around in the palms, If you don't it will take a few sets until they wear in.

I didn't start skiing until I was 24, first time I say a course was 26, I did manage to get into 38' off before I aged down to 34. I still ski 36 every once and awhile, I think it's more fun than 34.

 

I see a lot of people open up at 22' @ 34 and then go to 22' @ 36, instead of opening up at 15' @36.

I currently have a a Reflex with a 500 Silvertta release mechanism. It has begun to develop slop around the pivot bolts, enough that my heel easily lifts several millimeters off of the plate. I found a lightly used 404 mechanism for cheap, but I know the cleat heights are different between the two releases, 57 mm for the 500 but I don't know what the measurements should be for the 404. Can someone please measure their Reflex with 404 Silveratta cleat height?

if you could get that to work , you could set up a monitor that shows the SplashEye End Course Camera software. That would be sweet

Pull the engine out and have an engine builder go through it in the off season. Relatively inexpensive compared to the cost of a new boat

I wash my vest and other neoprene stuff in a front loader on normal with towels. No problems for the last 5 years.

@WBLskier, to get this back on track, hard vantage point to coach from but, looks like your angle through your gate is shallow, but can't tell way. Also it looks like your skiing almost right at 2,4,6 causing you to be down course, were you have a little more space in front of 1,3,5, once again don't know why.
