  1. Doo, thats a huge prop for that power. It must work though. I have talked to Eric email only. He suggested the exact prop I've been useing! Im working with Bennett tabs to have one built. Looks like it will be 14" long the tansom x about 11"inches off the back hydralic adjustable. We ski with 1 to 5 people in the boat so adjustabilty should be a great option. Hopeing to lose some wake is the main goal and NO headers this summer!
  2. with 30 year of experience, everyone is right with one exception. Wax is the killer. This is how a Dupont chemist explained it years ago. First most if not all waxes are a form of oil. If you put oil in your body and set in the sun for days what happens? You burn! Over waxing increase the suns uv rays to burn the pigment out of the gel coat color or even paint. I was told waxing is good for helping the dirt wash off period. Spray furniture polish all over the boat its almost the same stuff. Heavy buffing to get the oxidized gel off then keep it covered. Now clear coat on cars looks great for a long time because of the UV protectint in it, gel doesnt have that.
  3. Jack, surprised... the Response has a wake I'm shooting for, love that one. How large was the plate you installed how much angle down do you need to make a difference in the wake. In the drain hole! MC's hole is in the center of the boat.
  4. Jipster, I have the same boat and have been looking to lower and soften the wake to. USA ski, Sounds like the oj 4 blade would be the best choice, call Eric their. Any body got any other ideas? After much investigating I believe the transom of most the older MC'S run low in the water which must be a direct reflection of the wake and terrible chine spray at short ropes. I think Im going to add a wake\trim tab to the center rear of the transom next. Everything I have read and heard this should help get the transom up some. Many other Tourney boats have used them before so why not. MC in the early 2000's even added a hook to the transoms to do this same thing. I rather not do a permanent modification, bolt on is easier and adjustable.
  5. Ya me to..... whats up? I have the cash burning a hole in my dresser. Once my wife finds it......
  6. Almost 1 year ago exactly I tore not one but two Patelars in a winter Volley ball game (won the point!). Completly tore both knee caps down to my shins! Now 1 year later and still doing the PT I learned to do last March, strength is back 125%. Soft tissue healing is seemingly forever, have patience. Today I still feel like my knees are overstretched rubber bands! Skied very little this summer and did the course only once, depressing getting up on 2 skis. Guys if your knees are hurting under the caps dont be stupid like me get (force) an MRI and get them fixed, this hell was not worth it! Happy new years! and thanks again to the help from this forum.
  7. Jerseydave you will love the slalom wake on your new to you 93 Prostar. One problem short lines give lots of chine spray beyond 32 off. My 93 Prostar 205 uses an ACME 4 blade that I believe helps the wake. I've skied just as much behind the Malibu LXI'S of the late 90's to early 2000, they have a much softer wake than the MC, sorry MC owners. I love hearing from others the good wake analogy and the 93 and 94 Prostar in the same breath, Eric!
  8. It gives me the balls to spray! Where else can you discuss or simply read about our sport at this high level.
  9. Not sure if I'm "older than Ham" but for us older folk I bet my skiing hostory has a lot of similarites to others. I skied from 8 to 21 then came the girls... then came the kids! No to little skiing at this time. As the kids got into their early teens we all got into it. Partly because I could now aford a Prostar! and at 45 excersize of any kind was GOOD. Now 50 skiing is part of my life. I hate to say it but slalom as we know it may not be growing. A recent survey on our lake proved wake boarding was a fav. over slalom. This was from guys that rip up the course.
  10. Never thought I would get this much interest. Safety in this case is over-shadowing performance so I think the Stealth will be the one. The high boot wins, I rather break that leg bone than an ankle. Ice coming soon here so time is on my side. Thanks all and happy holidays!
  11. Rs-1's a plate binidng where both feet stay together?
  12. Favorite Lake, White Lake in the Adirondack mountians of upstate NY. Private lake, paradise for 2 hours every morning 8 to 10:00 am, when the course is in, fog has lifted and we start ripping it up!
  13. Agree with all the above and thanks for the info. This site is great for REAL information. I understand the Fogman-Stealth relationship but dont understand what the diff. is with a short boot vs a taller one? I would guess more leverage from a taller and less with lower? But a lower gives more ability to adjust by bending some at the ankle. I'm buying something just want to make the right move. I currently use Connely Fastback- hinged and yes there tall! Oh ya... chaseing bouys is my love so turning is important, any thoughts?
  14. Im looking for a safe binding for next season after double knee surgery this Jan. I like they way they release, especially side to side. Boots a bit tall but could be and ankle savor.
  15. First I love this site that's "full of talent" Horton keep up the good work!  Jeff Lyman Collision repair shop owner M2, 50 in 4 weeks. Live and ski at my home on the river in Syracuse NY usally 2 times a week or when I can find a driver ( wife scared to drive on our river kind of tight turns). I started skiing courses about 3 years ago and lucky to have 1 near by and another at our camp up north. Bouy chasing has excited me to be a better skier rather than just free skiing with no measure of achievment. Started sking behind my late dads 12 footer with a 10hp at about 8. Then progressed to a 1954 flat bottom 17' Chris Craft, which still sits in out boat house in the Adirondack Mountians. Jumped and tricked some in the 80's with a beer in one hand and the rope in the other.... stupid. But I lived! Bought my first real ski boat and ski just 5 years ago a 93 Prostar 205 and Connelly F1X with double sidewinders. Great boat but my PB's have all been behind Malibu LXI's 5 @ 28 off, soory MC owners its a fact I love the wake behind a malibu. Was dreaming...... not really I was really thinking about entering or training for a tournament after 50 but now with 2 blown out knees competition may not be a good idea. Hell I'm lucky if I'll be able to even chase balls by the end of this summer. PT going well but still hobble around like Frankenstien. My 18 year old daughter got her first new Connelly womans ski last summer. She looks forward to showing up the young boys! My 15 year old son is a up and coming wake boarder, never slalomed and I'm not pushing him to. This sport while personaly trying is a great way to unwind with good friends. Looks like I'll be a driver most of this summer. Memories are many over the past 40 years! Ed J.I've driven some NASCARS on road coarses and run over 100 laps at Atlanta MS. I agree race car driving has a closer coralation to skiing than one might expect. Â
  16. Very first time getting up behind my new to me Mastercraft 5 years ago I heard a cracking noise, thought it was a vest buckel. 2 days later doc said I tore tendons between my ribs. No skiing for 2 to 3 weeks and still hurt most of the summer, not fun. Started my PT on the double knee repair last week. Now two weeks in tonight I got 68 degrees of ROM and started with 40 last Tuesday. I'm very happy with progress so far not easy but PT works. Drove my truck for the first time yesterday and no more braces, I'M HUMAN AGAIN!Â
  17. From a non tournament skier and as I read on here a PB of 28 off is only so-so. I have used for 4 years double Connelly fastbacks (same as drafts a little taller), the rear hinge-entry style. I ike the forward position it puts my legs into helping to get the hips forward. Very easy entry and exit. When I first purchased I could not get up on one but could put my rear foot in the binding and close the hinge all while up. Huge dividens to me just for that, not possible with most other bindings. Cons, always keeping the screws tight....nothing else. I agree with other post, higher the binding is better to get that force to your larger bones in a hard fall. I will never ski with a RTP, seen my buddy with his ski and leg rapped around his neck when his rear foot came out on a simple wake crossing.
  18. To me its a saftey deal. I believe the double boots are a much safer set up not to mention more leverage turnign the ski. I once peeled my skiing buddys right leg with ski still on back around his head. After a nasty fall in the course I saw for myself as the spotter his left RTP did not hold his foot in while the right with ski bounced and grabbed the water breaking his femer. Discusting to see but sold me on hopefully keeping both feet in or out of the bindings. I have fallen and him many times since and 90% of the time both feet are still in, one would think two legs moving together are much stronger than one???? Sorry just relaized this is a thread about top skiers. Please disregard all comments above.
  19. Encouragment Bill.... thanks. I have an appointment with the surgeon this coming Thursady and hopeing to get started with PT. He did tell me 2 weeks ago I can have my trainer do the PT along with my other work out. Swelling is way down I would guess about 20% of what it was. Knees feel really strong and supportive. Plan on working alot this week my business needs me. Walking seems to be the best therapy stretching the leg muscles that have been in limbo for the past 5 weeks. I am truly sick of these braces and muscleing in and out of chairs a real pain in the as.... Sliding in and out of my wifes SUV back seat also a big pain. Oh well no othe choices. My wifes is deserving of a specail something for her efforts.
  20. Wow, most of you guys weight what I do, yes skiing at a lighter weight is huge in energy savings. I found that out last summer after loseing 25 lbs and now 200. Not sure what the P90X is but after knee surgery on both 5 weeks ago I'm limited to what I can do. I hired a trainer to help out in the gym 2 days a week because I cannot stand by myslef in double braces. He spent alot of time investigating our sport and the muscle groups. He's got me stretching more than weight training and it hurts! He says flexability is as important as strength and hes makeing dam sure I can, ouch.... but does feel good. Told him last night he should make a dvd for my skiing buddies. Any info I get here I pass on to him keep it coming, please. Skidog... Your not serious about drink more beer and eat pizza are you??? I'll have to check with my trainer first, lol . Anything is better than sitting on a couch day after day healing I guess.Â
  21. Since I've started with what I call ski training no more wait is coming off, wanted to lose 10 by summer. Question muscle weighs more than fat? So I need to stop training to lose? In 5th week of busted up knees will have lots of work on the lower body once I can bend them again so might is well work upstairs! My Ortho wont tell me even if I can ski this coming season, got to be ready.
  22. Gota find me some spin classes! Said you ruptured your right quadricep. I assume that is what I did. My quad tendon became removed from the knee cap completly. In surgery they drilled 3 holes in my knee caps, pulled the quad and tendon back down with thread to the cap and tied it ( I hope tight ). Was your injury the same? I told the doc just before he put out to drill 4 holes and add additional thread I ski ! He laughed. Volley ball hurt me more than skiing the course in the past so I can easly drop that sport. But you have inspired me to try hard to be in shape for this summer ( ours much shorted than yours) to atleast ski some. I'll probably end up being the designated boat driver more than anything. I'll be in FL, Sanibel Island in mid April and was planning on skiing with a friend near the old Cypress Gardens, its out now. Cant wait for some sunshine though. Appreciate your thoughts here, hard to find others participating in our unique sport.
  23. You said replaced the inline filter then it ran fine for 4 hours then did it again. Sounds like dirt or something in the tank. Pull out and look inside? Should be under warrenty? Or, I bought a new boat years back with similar issues turned out to be the fuel tank vent was clogged with buffing compound from the factory, cleaned and all good.
  24. Thanks for the info Bill, just what I was looking for. Did you ski some the summer of 2010? I see you did the tournament late in the season. Your exactly 1 year older than me, I was thinking about entering in a tournament in a few years but this will slow that thought. Hate to miss even some recreational free skiing this coming season. Stupid question what is ROM?Â
  25. Actually just the opposite, wish I had gorilla quads. I believe over the past 10 years of hard snowmobile riding I tore some of the tendons to the patella weaking them. They've been bothering me and finally gave out at the same time jumping up and landing, ugly mess.Doc don't say much that's why I'm reaching out here. Still feel young at 50 I dont need this!
