  1. JT is a respected TC. IF there’s a place that’s dead on, I’d take his backyard in prep for Worlds.
  2. Main lake at Travers has not 1 but 2 jumps deployed virtually all the time (as it has for decades), as it did this weekend, in the same positions. Would also strongly suspect the setup will be the precise same in 2 weeks. If for nothing else, I'd bet they wanted to create the precise same sightlines for Worlds. It is not an uncommon set up. The set up is such that the far side boat guides (from jump) is the inside jump course buoys. Absent that setup, that lake would be chock full of buoys, and trust me, it's got a lot going on already, and no more width to move it out. Nate turned a fast (bad) 1 and couldn't get back to boat guides. Jump is virtually where a right sided 2 ball would have been. He just didn't make it to the wakes. While it may have caused a distraction for him yesterday, it was a bad one ball. Given the number of pros who ski this site daily, if there were complaints/safety issue, it would have looked a lot different there than what it has for years.
  3. Can they not match strut specs from another OEM? ie, if you need a 16 degree 1", is there no other brand with those specs? That'd surprise me but sounds like you're on it.
  4. 3 words: Discount inboard marine (skidim.com). I bet Vince can steer you right.
  5. Andre, totally agree, but in the absence of regular judges, you can't have events, and in the absence of events, you can't can't get your asst.
  6. yes, or a handheld unit. software is diacom. I have no idea what information could be garnered from an automobile OBD reader. https://www.rinda.com/marine/diacommarine.htm
  7. Given your year, I would think it'd be a plug shaped like this: https://www.rinda.com/rindashop/shop/adapter/94005 I don't think an auto OBD would be much help. If you've not done the cap and rotor yet, it needs to be done. If you haven't changed both fuel filters, that needs to be done. I'd change plugs as well. If after all that you have same issue, then hook up a fuel pressure gauge. Everything above are standard maintenance items that in light of the FCC filter findings, suggest to me your boat needs some service TLC before even chasing this problem further. If all the above don't fix, I'm still in crank position sensor camp.
  8. Despite filters being suggested earlier, and which are fine suggestions, if the cap and rotor have not been changed to solve this, absolutely put a new one on. They're like $50-75. I was including those in my simple things description but should have been more clear.
  9. The point is, with it, being a one to one transmission, RPMs are slightly lower and slightly lower on the torque curve, unlike the Mastercraft and nautique which are higher in the torque curve. Therefore, it could give the perception that it is a slightly softer pull, hence a move up to the Bs. But it’s hardly “soft” or underpowered, just a different feel for them. It’s not a deficiency necessarily that Malibu doesn’t use a reduction transmission. They never have, even when, for example, the power slot begin usage for Mastercraft long ago. Malibu was able to save weight and generally run a few miles an hour faster than MC and cc, and hence was the preferred inboard barefoot boat for a long time, save for the specialists like Sanger. The real difference will be in jump.
  10. Seems I'm seeing more nautique footage than Mastercraft today, lol.
  11. Maybe, lets face it though it could have been more entertaining than Top Gun and the fact it was "pushed" on "us" would have yielded the same complaints.
  12. I understand you're willing to lob an alternative idea, which is to be applauded. I'm just pointing out that it's not just about USOC requirements.
  13. Who do you plan on getting to run it and provide any insurance? USOC mandate aside, this was also a requirement of USAWS insurers.
  14. Awesome to see Jaeden Eade on the RO! Home lake, home boat, will be pulling for him to ski well!
  15. Try Watching tv in basic downward and upward dog. Once the big muscle groups get stretched and loose, I’d bet your piriformis can finally then “see” a stretch in those positions and you loosen up over time. Low, one leg step throughs after. Turmeric every morning.
  16. Because the difference is, by cutting it down at the tail, the “new” tail has way more support (from width), than a simply shorter ski. Yes, construction and stiffness may still remain, but the ski rides higher. Apparently kids skis are like politics, lol. In my “opinion”, there’s a difference between lower level skiers, and an 80# kid at 28 mph at 15 off, but I would never disagree with someone with more experience than I. Lots of good opinions here OP. There isn’t a magic pill except boat gas. Enjoy the journey.
  17. Respectfully, I would disagree that an 80 pound 28 mph 15 off kid is best served by a ferrari-esque shape and construction. He doesn't weigh near enough or create the forces needed to to let that ski do its thing. A 63" Vapor is not necessarily a "kids" ski just because its short. I understand that your son picked up a pass, but that's as much a function of length as it was shape. Look if it works for OP's kid, great, but a softer, shorter ski than a 65 would be my vote, not a stiff-riding ferrari with very little forgiveness at 28/15. Would suggest a call to Brooks Wilson, who may well disagree.
  18. And then boat path can split towards centerline a bit more and use the outside boat guide to learn even more width. (around 1 ball, around left side boat guide at 2, etc.)
  19. I understand where you're going, and that they can fail, but causing a hesitation? I'm not following that but seek to learn about this as I've already done one on my 08. thx If the basics dont fix it I'd bet on crank position sensor.
  20. He meant potentiometer. It's basically the servo that translates drive by wire signals into physical movement on the engine. Not unlike a perfect pass servo. I don't think a 196 would be DBW until 08, but could be wrong.
  21. Am I wrong that an 05 would not have one? I'd hit the fuel filters, cap and rotor, and then put a fuel pressure gauge on.
  22. Its perfect. No need to overthink it. Wrap handle will be useful too.
  23. Obviously no reason for a toe hold, so you might as well just use your slalom handle for now, assuming you like its sizing. I use a 15" width wake board handle for rope-passing ease. Yes that screams I don't know what I'm doing, but it works fine for a non-toe (hand) pass.
